Please try to create a new TCE.ini (remove/rename your old) for a test.

Hello again.
I just opgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 & and from TCE 1.1.1 to 1.1.5 . TCE was running fine, well that is until now.

No error messeges. it just started running very slow. startop takes a very long time, it takes a few minutes for TCE to realise a change of location (from 1 star sysem to another or station)
Openning panels like the "add a market" panel frezes the app for ca. 30s before it opens.

It is weird, TCE was in fact running alot better after i changed to windows 10, in the beginning at least.

I tryied going back to TCE version 1.1.1 in hopes that would work. but that is slow as well now, not as slow as 1.1.5, but slow.

I openned task manager to have a look. and i also see the TCE processes not closing afterwards.
I can see that after the TCE UI shows, it uses around 10% cpu and starts eating memery (not alot tho).

I guess TCE is not competible with windows 10 ?.

Running on Win. 10 just fine :)

humm oki, i wonder what it is then.

Ä) Install in a new location and try to import old DB

OR

B) Make a backup, clean install, recover backup

Basically removes some problems by doing one or both of those. Since it is a slow startup it could be a corrupted file somehow, but if that doesn't fix it and the problem continues, then you know it is a problem with your DB files someplace. If we pin it on the DB then Eventure can look at that.

I am running Win 10 too and have no problems.
Opening a panel the first time needs a little to setup the panel, so the Market Database Panel, for example, needs about 6 seconds to open, the Navigation panel close to 10 seconds. But only the first time. Thereafter it is immediately.

A slow startup could be happen, if
1) Trade/Region Range is quite big ( > 500 LYs).
2) Slow CPU, RAM or HDD.
3) Chipset drivers problems.
4) Numberous netlog files ( > 1000).
5) Big netlog files ( > 1 MB).

Hello, Thanks for the reply.

I did some re-installing of both versions, but 2day i thougt i would try again so.

I installed version 1.1.5 on C:\TCE (ssdisk).

I tried running the program before adding DB:
Startet normaly
Openning database/markets: 15-20s, opens instantly after that.
Navigation windows: Around 20s first time, opens after around 10-12s after that.
It seems to go faster after each time i open them.

------
Then i added the DB via the import function from another TCE mk2:
Startup takes a few minutes.
Openning database/markets: 15-20s, opens instantly after that.
Navigation windows: 40-50s first time, faster afterwards.

------

Then i tryed the backup function as a way to transfer the DB from one 1.1.5 to another 1.1.5 as u wrote.

Seems have taken away alot of the delays now. down to 10-15s on windows and location updates.

The startup time is still a few minutes :) but i can work with this.

Thanks again.

End of wall of tekst.

That is about the speed I would expect on startup, The first load being slower makes sense since it is building the tables.
Because of the startup on the menu I was wondering where that would come from, I mean nothing had actually loaded yet, and then the loading data is just that... and to drag there beyond expected means something was getting hung up. That was looking like some sort of cache error. Dunno. Just theory. But it worked it out, and that is what counts.

And Eventure's '3) Chipset drivers problems.' worried me the most as a possible, that's hard to diagnose.

EDIT: How big IS your DB file?? :)

Ohh i ment after i pressed "LAUNCH TCE" in the little launcher menu window thingy, and it starts the loading bar. not the start from when i executed the exe.

My DB is 3.25mb as a backup file.

Gotta document all the things. [hotas]

Beginners Guide for using TCE MK.II in conjunction with EDMC

This is a short and basic tutorial for getting you started in using TCE in conjunction with EDMC.

For optimal comfort and usability i recommend using ED Market Connector http://edcodex.info/?m=tools&entry=150,
grab the latest Win version directly from here:https://github.com/Marginal/EDMarket...eleases/latest

After downloading and installing both EDMC and TCE.MKII first start EDMC.

Quoted from EDMC Setup:
'The first time that you run the app you are prompted for your username and password.
This is the same username and password combination that you use to log into the Elite: Dangerous launcher,
and is required so that the Frontier servers can send the app your data and the market data for the station that you are docked at.
The first time that you hit “Update” you will be prompted to authenticate with a "verification code", which you will shortly receive by email from Frontier. Note that each "verification code" is one-time only - if you enter the code incorrectly or quit the app before authenticating you will need to wait for Frontier to send you a new code.'

You don't need to alter any options in EDMC. If it says you're connected after the update procedure, you're good to go.
You can close the app now, no need to have it running in the background because TCE is using a commandline version of it.

For your first start I recommend being docked at a station well inside the bubble, 'cause there is a small chance of not getting market data from lesser known stations on the outskirts. It's just that EDMC connects to the api-Server FD provides, and there are some entries missing.

Now start TCE MK.II
Run the config, let TCE detect your paths to ED and EDMC, set your preferred language.
Start TCE before starting ED, so it can take care of the 'verbose-logging' setting.
Let TCE load up fully before starting ED, don't start them simultanously, that could generate errors.
After you've started ED and are ingame, TCE should show your actual position.

Now we're going to register your very first market (yay)!
Goto Database -> Markets -> Add new market
In the first dropdown field choose the name of the Station you're in.
IF inside well-known Space it should be in the list, and the following fields will be filled automatically and a 'save' button will appear.
Take a glance at the values to verify if they're correct, and hit save.

All going well, TCE should now connect with EDMC, and after storing the data you'll have a load of infos ready to go:
- The market data of your actual position
- The available Shipyard aswell as Outfitting(!)
- Your Personal Data (your current ship incl. current loadout, ranks, your 'fleet'...)

Now, to get something like the trade advisor working, you'll have to register more markets, same procedure as above.
Fly to station, register and connect. You HAVE to be docked at said station for EDMC to work, so, yes, you have to actually fly there and cannot register different locations out of your actual position.
After succesfully registering a few markets you can take a look at the Navigation and/or Trade Tabs, and see if there are already trading opportunities to find.

I'll leave it at this for now, it's just to get you started.
Feel free to take a look at the Manual for further directions and/or ask specific questions in the thread.

Kind regards, and always fly safe and profitable,
Cmdr Punkerich
