Release Trade Computer Extension Mk.II

Hi all, long time no see, (again)

The minimap option is not working for me, no sound and the box remains empty when I click it.

QUESTION OR BUG?

Am I going blind? As I can't find any information in ED for a star's Absolute Magnitude, which is a field to fill in when adding a star in Cartography? Also Rotational Period. Are these in the Journal only?

Welcome back!
The Minimap panel is currently offline due to some problems with it, like showing the proper heading as in ED. Don't know, if it will come back, because i'm hitting a wall on finding a solution.

No and yes!

You are not blind, most data of stars are not displayed in ED, so you have to leave the field blank. Some data is showed in the text description, but sadly not all.

Yes, the journal data is more informative when scanning.

Eventure,
Are you able to store Ring Composition in Cartography? Metal Rich, Icy etc?

Next version will add those data, but when adding a star or planet manually, you have to type these data into TCE by hand.

Hi Eventure,

it seems TCE has a problem with Black Holes. Whenever I scan one, it is not entered into the Summary panel and the scoopable part remains in unknown state. They also don't appear in the Cartography panel although the camera window pops up after a scan.

May be it is because they are called 'Schwarzes Loch' in german and you don't use the ingame abbreviation H.

Thanks

I assumed it was coming from the Joural as EDDiscovery has the same data also.

You are right, TCE has a wrong marker for blackholes, it's H not blackhole, as you correctly stated. Will be fixed with the next update. The translation was not the issue, because the marker values weren't translated.
If you don't want to wait, you can change the value at the Resources.db > StarTypes > StarClass from BLACKHOLE to H.

Thanks for reporting.

TCE won't even start anymore even reinstalling it from scratch does not fix the issue.

This is what I get when I try to launch :

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Make the following:
1. Install TCE again to a temporary location, but don't remove you current installation.
2. Copy the Trade Computer Extension.config file from the temporary location into your current installation.
3. Start your current installation and it should work as before. Remove the temporary installation.

Thought I added a limit of 1 seconds to the hide delay, will check it, when I am at home.

Nope, I get the same error !
Can't find where that info could be stored, before what you replied I had deleted TCE completely, even looked in the appdata forlder but found nothing there, rebooted and installed again with the same result.

I can get it to work by installing in a different location but if I move the same files back in the old location I get the error again.
Could there be an entry in windows registry ?
That would be kind of weird since TCE does not appear under the Control Panel Programs and Features and there is no uninstall function.

TCE did create an error report that I will forward by email

No, TCE didn't add anything to windows. Most is stored in the file, I mentioned above. If you install TCE to a different location, copy only the player.data file and the complete database folder, not the executable.
Otherwise you can edit the .config, I mentioned, change the Delay/Show value at the bottom to a value, which is not 0, e.g. 1.

Hi Eventure, Just a quick one. Since 1.5 my camera isn't auto loading after a scan. Ive tried checking, unchecking in the options panel and re installing TCE but still nothing. Camera works fine if I invoke it from cartography.
Also a quick thank you. I cant imagine playing ED without TCE now, best app for ED bar none. Ill be sure and send some beer tokens over for you :)

Thank you pal!

Check the value for Auto_Camera at the TCE.config file, if it's set to "true".
Tested it here and the Camera panel appears, after a scan. Do you have the issue with both stars and planets?

That issue with the Star Class not updating correctly after performing a DSS of the main star has reared it's head in the Regional Summary Panel. :rolleyes:

And as before when I've jumped to a new system the Star Class has now been updated correctly.

My problem is fixed :) It wasn't a problem with TCE. When I upgraded to 1.5 I decided to take a little break from trading exploring and bought a vulture. I rigged it out and forgot to install a detailed surface scanner, I actually wasn't aware it was a necessity for the camera to auto load. Anyways, everything is working for me as it should now on latest version. Keep up the good work Eventure, I couldn't play without it :)

Great to hear you have found the issue. It will change in the future, so scanning without a DSS installed will produce an output at the journal too.

@Small Dev Update:

Preparing the next update for this weekend and I reworked the Navigation panel (Star Systems/Region Summary) to add more details about a star system and a better display of the data shown.
So let's take a look:

ReowrkedNav.JPG

I removed the location and market row and replaced them by several location type icons (unregistered/coriolis/ocellus/orbis/outpost/planetary port/planetary outpost/stored location/engineer).
Added also a scoopable icon to the star class column to free additional space for the icons above. Now you are able to see, what installation types are within a particular star system, without selecting it.

Additionally, I reworked the star system summary display to be in line with the design of the panel. I replaced also the bold Destination, Set Bookmark and Delete Unregistered buttons with smaller icons to have more space for the data to display.

Have to do some last testing today, so the update will be released tomorrow. Please share your thoughts about it.

I would ask that you re-add a market place column. Maybe just add a money icon with a y/n column to the others already there. I use that functionality extensively when I'm flitting about doing missions. Basically, when I bring up that panel, I first click on 'state' to get only those 'explored' and then on 'market' to only see those that have a stored market, as I'm normally not interested in those without. But I want to see them by system, not market name. The fact that they have one is more important than the name.
