Just wanted to share how to get TCE in VR with SteamVR and Vive. I saw a few pointers, but not too much detailed info so here's how I got it to work using OVRDrop
Here's what I have:
2 monitors, TCE is overlaid on monitor 1 and I use Voice Attack to control while in VR
In OVRDrop, select Monitor 1 to be sent in, then in VR use the Vive controllers to move and size the panel.
In 2D save a profile - this saves the position of the panel for re-use.
In OVRDrop settings, I set a hot key to toggle the display - I used Right Ctrl
In Voice Attack, set commands for "screen up" and "screen down" to press Right Ctrl and option to send to OVRDrop window
In game, saying "screen up" displays the monitor panel with TCE. A black desktop, no icons and hide taskbar would probably look tidier here, but at this point it works.
Use the TCE Voice Attack profile to show panels, e.g. "tracom trade" and Vive controllers for mousing.
Once done with planning out a route, "screen down" then plot a route in the galaxy map etc.
I did notice a big hit on frame rate, most likely because of OVRDrop sending a whole monitor screen, but also because of display settings, so used Dr Kaii's ED Profiler to set some sensible VR settings and it all seems to work pretty good.
