Release Trade Computer Extension Mk.II

Just wanted to share how to get TCE in VR with SteamVR and Vive. I saw a few pointers, but not too much detailed info so here's how I got it to work using OVRDrop

Here's what I have:
2 monitors, TCE is overlaid on monitor 1 and I use Voice Attack to control while in VR
In OVRDrop, select Monitor 1 to be sent in, then in VR use the Vive controllers to move and size the panel.
In 2D save a profile - this saves the position of the panel for re-use.
In OVRDrop settings, I set a hot key to toggle the display - I used Right Ctrl

In Voice Attack, set commands for "screen up" and "screen down" to press Right Ctrl and option to send to OVRDrop window

In game, saying "screen up" displays the monitor panel with TCE. A black desktop, no icons and hide taskbar would probably look tidier here, but at this point it works.
Use the TCE Voice Attack profile to show panels, e.g. "tracom trade" and Vive controllers for mousing.

Once done with planning out a route, "screen down" then plot a route in the galaxy map etc.

I did notice a big hit on frame rate, most likely because of OVRDrop sending a whole monitor screen, but also because of display settings, so used Dr Kaii's ED Profiler to set some sensible VR settings and it all seems to work pretty good.

Donation sent for this awesome tool :)

Have to ask, if you are using the lastest version of TCE?

Yes, sir. I've been keeping my version of the application up to date as you roll out changes. As of all changes up to today, I'm still getting the same symptom.

I'm still wondering if I've screwed something up on my end. I'm going to continue to play with it and see if anything changes. As it is now, I have to stop the route and restart it to get it to continue down the looped trade route.

Thanks.

Not sure if anyone else can confirm this, but as I was playing last night after installing the latest version, I has issues with the monitor switching. App started on Monitor 1, I clicked to use monitor 2 and nothing happened. I did this a couple of times, and I tried to move it to monitor 2 myself, only for it to revert straight back to monitor 1. I set monitor 2 up and shutdown restated and it worked fine. Only other problem was Waypoints and Cargo, they were still on monitor 1, occupying the same location, the original waypoints location.

I can't test it again right now as I'm working ATM.

[1] SRV DEPLOYED ERROR

Landed on a Planet and Deployed SRV and then got this error. And the error kept repeating so I had to quit out of TCE. However; this only happened once and I have been unable to recreate the problem. There are no pictures in that default Elite folder, but why would TCE want to look there anyway?

Oh and that reminds me of a Feature Request I had. Could you add the Failed Percentage next to the number of failed missions. Perhaps you can also put the Completed percent as well. I'm mainly interested in what percentage of missions I'm failing. Like right now it looks like I'm failing 12 - 15% of my missions (though that might be because it's not recording all my missions right now).

It's in the next update!

Hey Eventure as always Arrghhh maintaining 2 PC with TCE spent the better part of the evening updating be nice if I could get the my better halve to take care of hers LOL love what looks like some neat new features how goes the revamp of TCE-Relay any luck?

Also why I have figure out how to copy and paste my cartography pics over after a Full Version update I can never seem to save my keybindings which file holds those? and why don't it backup with the old DB am I most likely doing something wrong everything thing seems to backup and restore ok

OK another one I am having problems with transferring is Faction History after full installs I lose whatever history I had for my faction anyway to import that as well?

Sadly, I have no influence on how fast the service will be back. One works on it, that is all I know. No timeline.

That is an integrated part of the latest version; update 2.4.6.1

Not for the commandline executable. So the best way is to let the EDMC running in the back with TCE.

[1] HIRE CREW ISSUES
[A] When adding a crew member if you take a picture before updating the name, the picture is removed when you've added a name.

When deleting a Hired Pilot, that isn't first in the list, all added pilots are removed.

[C] When deleting a Hired Pilot in position 3 in the list, all 3 are removed and the "ADD NEW PILOT" function is also removed. Requiring TCE to be restarted. Also Add a Pilot Slot and then delete it and again the "ADD NEW PILOT" function is removed, when this is the only pilot in the list.

[D] Add a pilot, then take a picture, don't update NAME or SHARE %age and then add a 2nd Pilot and take a picture and the first pilot added now has the same picture as the 2nd pilot, also happens with the 3rd Pilot added. Basically if you don't update the Pilot Picture, Name and Share, prior to adding a 2nd/3rd Pilot then the picture will change to the 2nd/3rd pilots picture.

[E] You are aloud to add more than 3 pilots to the list, you can only ever have 3 pilots though.

[2] STAR SCANNED VALUE IN EVENT REPORTER IS SHOWN AS ZERO

This appears to happen with ALL stars

No values are shown for Planets, I don't know if that's intended though?

FILES EMAILED.

1A: Confirmed, it will be no longer allowed to take a picture while in the creation phase.

1B + C: Can't confirm it. Working properly here! Please can anyone else test it and report back?

1D: Confirmed, it will be no longer allowed to take a screenshot of a crew member, if the name is the placeholder "NAME".

1E: Actually, but may change in the future, who knows...

2: Confirmed, fixed the issue for stars and planets.

Hello all,

Thank you for this great API to the game. I have a quick question.

Is there a way to open the extension on my secondary monitor rather than on my primary one? I've tried to launch it on the secondary but never manage to do so. Any tips appreciated.

Thanks again!

Thanks again!

Open the Options panel, select the System tab, activate Multi-Monitor Setup, select Monitor 2.

I created a short video to illustrate the problem I've been having. I've sped it up a bit but hopefully someone perusing this thread can have a look and tell me what I'm doing wrong or at least point me in the right direction.

Video is here: https://youtu.be/k_iTFoQCPGs

I'm hoping it's a case of user error but any advice would be appreciated.

I can't test it again right now as I'm working ATM.

I can confirm that monitor switching doesn't work the way it used too. if you select a different monitor, only the options window moves, and only moves once. Waypoints and cargo stay on the same screen.

Moving from screen 1 to 2.
Once you relaunch the app, the app moves over to the main screen but the waypoints and cargo, remain on the other screen.
If you select the options panel again with the app running on screen 2, the options panel opens on screen 1.

Moving from screen 2 to 1.
Once you relaunch the app, the app moves over to the main screen but the waypoints and cargo, remain on the other screen.
If you select the options panel again with the app running on screen 1, the options panel opens on screen 2.

Hope this makes sense.

This issue will be fixed in the next update, which is actually in beta test.

This is a little difficult to test for me, because I didn't own more than one monitor, so I am very dependent on user reports, as your here.
I will look into this now and I like to send you a test version, so we can fix the issue finally together, if you have the time for tests.
Will send you a pm with more infos.

I have a 4 monitor rig, would be happy to test multi-monitor functions for you.

Nice additions to the Navigation panel.

I'm wondering if it's possible on the Exploration field to tell whether the full system has been explored or not. If so then perhaps it could, instead of just saying 'Explored', rather say 'Partial', 'Full', or such. And then change "Exploration" to "Explored".

For Population, the way you show it might be tidied up some. I think what's important when you have limited space and can't show the full number, is the relative sizes, so the fine details are less important. I liked Maedhros suggestion, use B for Billion, M for Million, K for Thousand, and then have no more than three digits before the decimal and one or two digits after the decimal.

"Exploration" is short for exploration state or state of knowledge, but missing room let me find this phrase. A tooltip will show the full name.
There are already different states available, they are named: unknown, visited ,scanned and explored.

Re to pop values, that will not work for other languages, for example in german, K for thousand is okay, M for millions too, but in german the word for billions is "Milliarden", which is abbreviated as "Mrd.".
So I used "Mill." and "Bill.", translated in german as "Mill." and "Mrd.". So it works for all.

I have added an additional column for locations today, how many are available at a star system.

Hi Eventure

First, thank you very much for this great tool. :)

I have some issues with the new version. For better allocation i will use numbered lists.

I like the new mission panel, this is very usefull for me, if i am playing bus driver with my Beluga as example.

A
  1. Can you please save the panel position like the other panels? I want to use the mission panel on my secondary monitor.
  2. The panel should not automatically closed, if there are no missions left. Or there should be a option to disable this behaviour. I want this panel permanently open.
  3. The time-left-values are generally higher than real.
  4. It would be nice to have the numbers of missions also in this panel. But really, this would only be a nice-to-have feature. ^^^
  5. Today I had two VIP passenger missions and they was marked as (wanted) but that was not true.

About the navigation feature, I want to use it for finding foreign POI's and to set own POI's:

B
  1. In the current version the mini map will closed automatically after a few seconds.
  2. And also the focus is lost after a few seconds. The focus goes back to ED then. This is really annoying if I type some text. This is TCE specific, with other tools (like EDEngineer) i don't have this problem.
  3. There are bugs with saving the POI's. I can't remember the exact text from this error messages but it have to do with "type conversion" errors.

A tech question: i know how do you retrieve the coords, but how do you retrieve the direction?

And sorry if a few points be already posted. English isn't my mother langauge and so i don't had read the whole thread.

Hi Drakkath,

thanks for your input, so let's see, what you have...
A1: Will be in the next update.
A2: Will remove the autohide behaviour.
A3: How much, UTC/local difference?
A4: No room left.
A5: Could you provide me the journal file or the entries for this two missions, when you have accepted them?

B1: The Minimap panel is automatically hidden on the following states: docking, FSD drive, Supercruise. Thats because Frontier are unable to provide useful data while in supercruise.
B2: Any specific panel?
B3: Sry, but I require the exact error details.

The direction is generated by the coordinates interval difference.

Thank you. :)

A3: not sure, i will test this.
A5: i will collect this if I am back at home in the evening.

B1: The Minimap panel is automatically hidden on the following states: docking, FSD drive, Supercruise. Thats because Frontier are unable to provide useful data while in supercruise.
B2: Any specific panel?
B3: Sry, but I require the exact error details.

B1: yes, i know. But that's not what i meant. The panel will closed automatically if I fly over a planets surface or if I drive a SRV.
B2: no, it's on every panel I tested.
B3: ok, if B1+B2 is solved, then i can test this point again.

B1+B2 i had not with 1.6.3.x, it's new with 1.6.4.x.

The direction is generated by the coordinates interval difference.

Thanks, that was my assumption.

While driving a SRV, the Minimap panel hides, because again Frontier didn't provide any location coordinates, only in normal flights.
I checked again, flying over planets is working (in normal flight ofc, not in supercruise!) with the Minimap panel. No auto-close anywhere.
So I can't recreate your reported issue. Maybe you could create a small vid, showing me the issue?

In the navigation panel, when I highlight a system, the summary shows the system below the selected system.
(Sorry abot the second screen. Watching TV on the second monitor. [smile] )

Okay, first part of informations, second part later.

A3+A5:

Yesterday i flown dozens of missions, impossible to remember all details. So I selected now 2 different passenger missions to force both issues.

Mission 1:

Danilo Sweeney, VIP, not wanted.

Time left is correct here. At the moment i get the mission TCE and ED shows the same time left (02:42). But TCE shows (WANTED) here, that's wrong.

Mission 2:

Bulk passenger, Business.

Time left is wrong here. At the moment i get the mission TCE shows 03:34 but ED shows 03:06. And TCE shows the icon for a VIP here, but i think there is only one icon in TCE for passenger missions, right?

Here the relevant journal part:
