Release Trade Computer Extension Mk.II

OK nearly. I restarted TCE and when it loaded it did show system and station, but then it changed, system is correct but its referencing the planet im on and not the station that I'm landed at.

And the missions are still wrong

Ive now been to a few other sytems and its still not updated. Missions still stuck at 8 and i have 2 left.

Thanks

Panic.... Lol, sorry but reading all your posts seems it like that. Let me try to help.

Hahahaah. I thought for sure North Korea was hacking me and ww3 was imminent.

Lol but yeah it can seem that way. I'm very scatterbrained and my mind bolts of in all kinds of directions. Follow paths down rabbit holes an the like, so it can appear like that.

But yeah I guess the star message issue must have popped up around the time I took a break. Never remember seeing it, and was wondering what was going on since it would happen without TCE or anything else running.

And to be completely honest I was 100% that whatever my issue was was on my end and going to be a pain in the you know what, since there seemed to be very few affected by the journal thing, or few reported. And the only other report at the time was a similar situation of taking a break and basically jumping ahead a few version. So yeah maybe a tinge of panic, I have almost all my explo data in TCE so was worried if it was bad I may lose it. Lol

But I know Eventure is on top of things here and really good at what he does with this program, so I figured it would get sorted and was just trying to find anything I could to report to help, and yeah I do kind of over do it. I'm glad it ended up being an apparently quick fix for him.

And I want to say that I really appreciate the time you and anyone else took/takes to offer suggestions or any explanations and just general help in at least narrowing down what may or may not matter for the issues brought up.

@eventure I updated and still seem to be experience some issues, though similar not exactly the same. Will post a bit more info in a few mins

The new build is an improvement except like others my missions from before the Elite 3.00 update are still stuck and new missions are not added. Local station is correct on startup but doesn't update when jumping to a new system. I have to exit and restart TCE to get the local system panel updated. The destination never updates.

Is there anyway to reset the missions? Not sure why there are 5 old missions for Olgrea stuck there. Makes the destination system panel useless.

I have auto updated, then I manually updated and experienced the below either way.

To start the beta journal issue is sort of gone, I don't get the pop up anymore. But I still have to load up ED before TCE to get it to connect and get the notices welcome commander, journal feed activated. If I then log to menu and back in I don't see that pop up again and TCE does not update at all. When I restart TCE it has unprocessed journals.

I'm having similar issues as those above with mission panel even when I see the TCE has connected messages. It's not seeing any current missions I already have from before the TCE update today? THey just don't show up at all. I'm not seeing any stuck missions that I don't actually have in the TCE list. Not yet at least.

But yeah it's still having the issue where ED has to be run first and you have to load the commander in game and then launch TCE for it to connect it seems. And if you back out to the menu of ED at all, it will not reconnect for me, and then of course it seems like TCE is not updating, but for me it just isn't connecting back up. I don't see any events or error messages at all. Restarting TCE while actually in game will get it to reconnect and work again.

I don't know if the others experiencing TCE not updating have mode hopped, or just logged to menu and back in when it does, but that's what is happen for me.

If there is anything you would like me to try or anything I could provide just let me know.

Thanks for all the work on this.

somehow after getting TCE up and running, it crashed while in ED and the application file deleted. When I tried reinstalling to the directory, it wouldn't let me do so

Eventure is going to need more information than that, and a bug report sent to him. Click the 'Report Bug' from the start splash screen or when in game from the Options Menu.

With regards to people seeing issues with TCE not recognising the New System/Station: I've seen this a few times, but when I quit out of TCE and restart, it always updates to the correct System/Station. I've seen this in the Beta version 1.6.7 of TCE also, but it doesn't happen all the and as such difficult to reproduce when you it want to.

CORRECTION: UPDATE FOR USERS: TCE has got stuck for me and although it recognises the system I'm in it won't recognise the station I'm docked at, no matter what I've tried.

I've deltailed the issue in my bug report to Eventure.

Possible bug:

I had "Camera Panel After Scans" set to OFF from the launcher Settings section. I attempted to activate "Show Camera Panel After Scan" from the Panel Configuration in the actual TCE application. I scanned a stellar body, and no camera popped up. I have since decided that I don't care, because taking decent pictures makes exploration take that much longer :)D), but I thought it worth mentioning here anyways. This was with the latest update to TCE that came out yesterday, 1.6.7.1 I believe.

In short, it seems the two places to control camera behavior might be interacting improperly with one another.

Small feature request: You've been fantastic with the mining requests I've made, and I sincerely appreciate it, as I'm sure most miners do. In the Cartography panel, it might be worth changing the order of the search fields. If I may, I'd suggest (from top-to-bottom, only dealing with the two RINGS features added) that it be listed with RING RESERVES first, and RING TYPE below that.

So the sequence would look like:

NAME
CLASS
ATMOSPHERE
COMPOSITION
RING RESERVES
RING TYPE
RANGE (LY)
SPECIAL

The reason for this suggestion, is that rings are typically referred to as Reserves, then Type. Such as "Pristine Metallic," "Regular Icy," etc. in ED talk. Also, I noticed that you've added the reserve level to the RINGS detail in Cartography...bravo sir. Fantastic work, as usual.

Hey bAdbUd, have you tried it with the new 3.0 release of EDMC?

I installed that as soon as it became available, plus TCE gives you a warning if you don't have the latest version.

However I don't think this has anything to do with EDMC. I belive it's more likely to do with the log files and how they are being processed by TCE. The seemingly random nature of this issue leads me to think there is something specific with a station that fails to be recognised by TCE, but it alludes me as to what that is.

Ah yes, but TCE won't warn you if it's already running when an EDMC release comes out. :) Only after my 6 hour explo trip tonight did I notice a new EDMC had been released in the meantime...thought it worthwhile to at least ask.

Trying to update from 1.6.6.8 to 1.6.7.1 using the auto updater but it keeps crashing when starting to install the new full version of TCE. I will send a crash report but this is the text of the latest exception report:
The error message says
"Unhandled exception has occured in your application ... Procedure call or argument is not valid.

Original error referred to .Net framework but i don't have the text.

(ps, have restarted my PC but same error occurs, no mention of .Net Framework now. Will do a manual update)

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

That error doesn't look like a TCE error. Yes it's a .NET error, but TCE errors usually have references to TCE in the output I'm not saying it isn't, I'm just curious why there's no reference to TCE in the error output.

With 1.6.7.1 and EDMC 3.0, my TCE is no longer recognizing when I've entered a new system. It properly updates to display "<SYSTEM NAME>: Approaching" during the hyperspace jump, but once I've arrived in system, it remains stuck on that display. Even dropping to regular space doesn't update it to show that I've actually arrived in system. Thus far, none of the stellar body scans I've performed while this symptom was present have shown up at all in my Cartography panel.

Note that restarting TCE entirely *does* display the proper system information upon login, but fails to update properly beyond that.

My Flight Log shows "UNKNOWN STAR SYSTEM" for several entries tonight. I'm not sure if this is a bug, or if I don't know what I'm doing, but I suspect this is the same issue that bAdbUd spoke of.

BUG: Clicking on LOCATIONS in the NAVIGATION panel produces this error.

See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

This has been reported many times now (it's blinking annoying that bug though), along with the "UNKNOWN STAR SYSTEM" issue as well, sometimes it resolves after restarting and other times it doesn't, until you've had a coffee and been to the shop and try again, and hey it now works. That actually happened to me this morning. :D

With the other two bugs, (the REGION SUMMARY one I've seen) had you performed a search in the Star System or Market Places panels?

On another note:
It might help if I actually posted the issues I've found here, as I have recently just been emailing them to Eventure.

I've closed and re-opened TCE multiple times tonight...none of the systems I jumped to tonight have any data. The only one that now shows up in the Cartography panel, is the system I exited the game from. However none of the stellar bodies, or any other system information, is present in the Cartography section. Just an empty entry. :( I am hoping that doesn't mean that I've lost all the data I put into TCE tonight. :'(

The REGION SUMMARY and LOCATIONS bugs both happen immediately upon clicking the panel, even if that is the first thing I do upon starting TCE. Something seems very wrong with that page, because if I ignore the error, the only entry that comes up is KHAN GUBII....but I'm more than 1000LY from the bubble right now, so I don't see how that's possibly an accurate region summary. Plus the panel still says "STORED STAR SYSTEM CATALOG" despite being the REGION SUMMARY panel.

Sorry but I think you will have lost that data. I don't move on to anywhere if TCE hasn't updated correctly, I may move to a different station in the same system, or jump to a system I've already recorded and then jump back to see if that gets TCE to update. Something very odd is happening.

But as always is the case after EVERY update from FDev, we always have a week or two of 3rd party apps suffering, I'd wager it's poorly documented feature changes, and documented changes that don't happen and changes that happen that are not documented. That's normal life in development, this isn't a dig at FDev.

I've worked as a software tester for over 20 years now and communicating via documentation is and always will be flawed. Try writing down the instructions for riding a bike. I bet you'll miss some very pertinent information out, and what you do document will be interpreted in a different way as to how you intended it to be understood. And even if you did manage to get every single piece of information clearly written down and understood by someone who is learning how to ride a bike, do you think they'd then be able to ride a bike? No is the answer.

Hello everyone,

some of you reporting, that TCE is stucked in processing the journal.

I've tested TCE in the current version for about an hour without any issue, you reporting.

So I require a detailed report (what happens, when it happens, what you did before it happens, etc.) with a bug report INCLUDING your ErrorReportFiles.7z.
Without the files, I can't recreate the issue.

Thanks in advance.

Ok so I looked but cannot find such a file? Also I'm not actually getting any error or events reported if that matters?

So I have had the mission tab getting stuck, but I think that is an ED issue, I had a few missions stuck in the tab, but I had a few missions that would not turn in. Could not communicate with server, and then my whole board was messed up and had to reload like 3 times before I could take any new ones. Never could turn in those missions. They do disappear once their time is up though.

My only issue I see now is the TCE will only connect to me if I load my commander first, and if I exit to the main menu of ED and then load back in TCE will not re connect at all. No messages of any kind. Restart TCE while commander is loaded and all "seemed" fine for me.

I will gladly provide and send anything that would help, I can't seem to find an error report file anywhere, and as I said I'm not actually getting any errors, idk if that makes a difference?

When I get TCE connected it seems ok as far as system locations, I was heading back to more populated space last night before server shutdowns and it seemed to have my current system right. Of course if logged out for anything, then if I don't restart TCE it would appear as if it's frozen.

Anywho, if someone can help me find that error file, please and thank you. [smile][up]

It's in the root folder of wherever you installed TCE. On mine it's at:

C:\TCE\ErrorReportFiles_V1.6.7.7z
