Release Trade Computer Extension Mk.II

Issue with TCE.

Problem is that TCE says EMDC installed version is 3.12 (3.12 is available). TCE says “update is required”. I checked EDMC and 3.12 is indeed installed.

Note that yesterday while playing as usual, with TCE running, I took 4 missions with intention to let them fail. I shut everything down. Later I logged into ED only, no TCE, and allowed the missions to fail, and logged back out of ED.

Today when I started TCE as usual, it got stuck at 60% and I had to end task. Upon restarting TCE, I got the above warning about EDMC.

7z sent.

edit* After exiting, restarting TCE, verifying all DB's OK, TCE started as normal. It still showed that EDMC needs updating though. Not sure why.

The only time I get that warning is when I haven't yet logged into the game and TCE is ready to launch.

PS: What's with the LARGE font?

I always start TCE before ED, and never saw the warning or had a problem. While troubleshooting today, ED was running and I was in game, and TCE still gave the warning.

Lg font was due to copy/paste from email I wrote.

If TCE stops at 60% I usually find it's an error message. But it cannot be seen unless you use alt+tab. So next time TCE stops at 60% press alt+tab and hold them in, you can then click on any error message to read it.

So like I said, I normally start TCE before I launch ED, so any error message should have visible.

It IS possible though, that TCE was asking to update itself based on the logs from when I went in to ED to fail the missions, but didn't have TCE running. So in this case, the small pop up window that comes up and asks to update based on the logs, popped up under something else on the desktop, possibly the ED launcher itself which is tiled to not block the entire screen.

If that's the case, maybe there's a way to have the log pop up go on top of other "stuff", assuming you're not in full screen, or windowed that takes up the whole screen (ED after launching for example).

FWIW, I run several programs when I play ED. I launch them in an order that reduces the chance that one farting will not cause another to vomit.

Here's the order:

ED launcher (but not the game itself).
ED engineer.
EDMC.
Pause. Make sure nothing is erroring or asking for an update.
TCE launcher.
Track IR
OBS.
Voice attack.
Look at TCE launcher and make sure it's happy. Launch TCE.

After TCE launches successfully, Launch ED.

This way, by the time I actually enter the game, I know everything is good to go, and no ALT-tabbing will be needed. This has treated me well, and prevented most issues within the game.

I have the same problem. Installed version 3.12 (3.12 is available). Status. Update is required. :(

This is a bug of EDMC, reporting an available update but obviously it's up-to-date. Will report it to Otis to fix it with the next release. Until then, ignore the warning!

Eventure, I was looking at the Personal/ Active bounties and decided to head back and cash in.
After I cashed in I went back to the same window and had the error message, and it keeps coming up now.

Placed the error message and log file here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0By3EpqnOU1YSQThqRmpPeWE5aVU?usp=sharing

Hope you find the issue, thanks.

Thanks for the data, found the issue with some other quirks, so they become fixed with the next release aimed for weekend.

Re-positioning Waypoints and Cargo

Waypoints and Cargo Menus

They always appear in there original poistions, One a quarter the way across the other half way across. So I've opted several times to move them evenly spaced out at 1/3 and 2/3's across the bottom of the screen. The slight issue is they return to 1/4 and 1/2 across the bottom. Any reason why the re-positioning isn't retained?

I use TCE on my second screen so it's not actually and overlay to the application.

Thanks.

I recognized, you not having enabled the Multi-Monitor option in TCE.
Select thereafter the Monitor you want to display TCE.
Create a backup of the Panel.db file (at the DB folder) before, if something goes wrong.

In addition to the issue reported by Abil Midena, I'm not sure if this other issue I'm experiencing is tied to TCE or to EDMC. It never used to occur except since the last 1-2 updates of each. Basically it appears as if Windows is transferring focus back and forth between programs, causing the cursor to flash between the standard Windows cursor and the ED game cursor, which causes the game to "glitch out" and lose focus when transiting star systems or approaching a station to dock. I've narrowed it down to either/or TCE, EDMC, or an interaction between the two. The problem is that the lost cursor focus causes all the input to fail. So for example, if I'm approaching a station to dock, and I say, "Request docking" (for Voice Attack / HCS to respond to), the keyboard presses aren't all recognized and strange stuff happens, because the cursor has flickered to another program at the time the command / keyboard press is executed, so instead of successfully requesting docking, the left panel gets stuck at Transactions (or any other tab I happen to try & access when these events occur). As I mentioned, this happens during FSD jumps between systems, upon arriving at a system, when requesting docking, and when trying to launch. If I don't have EDMC and TCE running, the problem doesn't exist at all. Any ideas?

EDIT: If I run Voice Attack plus HCS alone, no problem. If I run VA plus HCS plus EDDI, no problem. As soon as I add in EDMC and/or TCE to the mix, the problem appears. I've had it happen with both, independently, so I can't tell if the underlying culprit is TCE or EDMC.

Sorry I wasn't clear, I am using multimonitor on No.2, you forget I helped with some testing back last year for you.
All works well on screen 2, just the repositioning is not retained.

Your TCE.config file from the report, you have sent, showing me, that you have not activated the Multi-Monitor option in TCE. The positioning of panels are bound to the selected monitor in TCE, which is actually "0", which is your primary monitor.
Activating the Multi-Monitor option and selecting the second monitor to display TCE should fix your issue. Please try this and report back.

Thanks for explaining, but I still have the same issue, so I've taken a screen shot of my second screen as I would like it to look.
This is capture.png.
I've shutdown TCE and re-launched it, and taken a screenshot as it comes back up. This is capture1.png
I've included The config file after the restart, not changing anything, I can see:

MultiMonitor="True"
MonitorID="2"

Am I missing something?

Sorry, my fault, getting old... I was confused about one report I received and though, that was your report.

EDIT:
Thanks for the config file. It shows me, that you have not activated the Free Panel Placement option. Please do it for a test. TCE will then deactivate the auto-positioning of panels.

Please check, if you have selected a key at the Options panel to send the focus to TCE.
If so, please try to change it to a different key. Maybe there is an interference with a selected key in ED.
If not, please tell me, when it exactly happens, on what occasions.
Thanks in advance.
