This release brings the project properly up to date, with a modernised codebase, refreshed data handling, a native GUI, improved command behaviour, and Windows installer support. What's New In v13
- Large internal modernisation of the Trade Dangerous database and command systems.
- Improved fuzzy matching and place resolution across commands.
- The old trade command has been renamed to direct for clarity. The trade alias remains available for compatibility.
- The native GUI has been substantially improved and now covers more common workflows.
- Journal import support has been added to help populate commander, ship, cargo and credit details.
- Market/import handling has been refreshed, including updated support for current data sources.
- Legacy/dead options have been removed where they no longer matched current Elite Dangerous data or Trade Dangerous behaviour.
- Windows installer support is now available from the GitHub release page.
Important Upgrade Notice
This is a breaking release.
Trade Dangerous v13 changes the database schema and is not backward-compatible with older local databases. If you are upgrading from an older version, rebuilding your local Trade Dangerous database is required.
- CLI users: use -O clean when importing.
- GUI users: tick the clean rebuild option when importing.
- If you use scripts, check any references to removed legacy options.
- If you previously used the trade command directly, it still works as an alias, but is deprecated. Please use direct instead.

Obtaining Trade Dangerous
The easiest way for Windows users is to download the installer from the latest GitHub release:

Using Trade Dangerous
Trade Dangerous can be used either from the command line or through the native GUI.

Command line users
The command line will always be supported. Existing users should note that the old trade command is now documented as direct, although the old alias remains available.
For those of you who prefer CLI, the output from
trade run has been redesigned and looks good on any unicode terminal, with options for old school 80 column output if you need it.GUI users
The Trade Dangerous GUI was recently introduced along with a native Windows installer and has seen a few improvements and features with v13.
Where we once required knowledge of command line interfaces and Python use, you can now download and install without any special knowledge.

Solo Play
For those who prefer not to use the crowd-sourced data that TD and many other applications use, or who like their database to keep up with their own travels, Gazelle has updated his EDMC plugin ready for the new version. You can obtain the new plugin from: https://github.com/bgol/UpdateTD/releases/latest
Alternatively, you can ask EDMC to output a .prices file, which can be imported directly by TD. As ever, we are grateful to our friends at EDMC for their continued support.
