Tricks for trading

So I was wondering - has anyone come up with any tricks for following a trade route wearing the Rift?

So far I've figured out that I can spam local chat and use it as a notepad, and I'm toying around with the idea of programming VoiceAttack with the silk road so that I can ask things like "Where to after <x> station?" and "What do I buy at <y>?"

Has anyone else discovered any other tricks to avoid taking the Rift off every 2 seconds to look at a screen?

I'm an Autohotkey user, and I have my routes in a little CSV file that I have bound to a couple joystick buttons. Then, it auto-types into the galaxy map to search the next system on the route. Text-to-speech helps along the way. Similar to the voice attack solution I guess. Of course, adding to the route must be done without the rift. I haven't cracked that one yet.
