Triple monitor setup & gtx 970

Cmdrs, does anyone run Elite in triple monitors 5760x1080? How is performance? How many fps average ? How much vram in that resolution Elite uses? Thanks

I wish I could do this but my desk isn't big enough.

Elite at 5760x1080 over three monitors on one gtx970 might be asking a bit much.

I bet your looking at medium settings and 30fps

Actually Elite is one of the most optimizes games it should atlest run 60fps in medium, this games renders almost nothing. Nop i am not asking too much

I have a 970 and a core i5 CPU. At 1080p in stations my fps dive bombs to around 35 from 60 In space.( max settings)

I think he Will be ok in Space but might struggle in stations and populated areas.

I've been running that exact setup since I started playing in April. Up till last week when the GTX970 carked it. It's going back today for warranty.

Back to running my previous GTX760, same triple monitors. Out exploring at the moment, so nothing too taxing. Holds 50 fps pretty solid, cept when in the hyperspace witch tunnel, it dips into the forty something a couple of times.
I think it currently has most settings at medium or high. Previously, with the 970, pretty sure it was mostly high or ultra.

So no, it's not asking too much.

Oh nice a thread I can contribute to. I am currently running a HD 7870. The Nvidia equivalent is about a 660. I run in 5670x1080 with graphics almost maxed out. I turn shadows down immediately in every game because they're hogs and I can rarely notice anyway. Game plays fantastically. I have mine locked at 30fps because I really notice the difference between 60 and 30, but when locked at 30 (console fps, basically) I can't tell it's at 30 and doesn't bother me one bit. So high to ultra settings, not nearly as powerful as a 970, with 3 monitors. Do it up man. The immersion is amazing.

I ran a GTX970 @5670x1080 too, until this week, when my card, too, died an untimely death. I'm back to a GTX670.

The 970 will run the game at high settings, but occasionally drops frames in stations down to about 45fps, although average FPS in stations is about 60, and over 100 n space.

I'm able to run 3200x1800, which is nearly the same total pixels as 5760x1080, on a GPU of comparable performance without major issues.

Assuming everything is configured properly, and you are not CPU limited, you'll probably be looking at mostly medium high settings for ~30-40 fps inside the more demanding stations, and 60-90 fps in space.

With a single R9 290X (very comparable performance to a GTX 970) and using default ultra settings in game at 1080p, I will essentially never see below 60-70 fps, barring the rare loading/generating pause during hyperspace jumps or extremely crowded SC instances at peak hours during CGs in Open.

Something has to be wrong with your computer, beacuse right now i have a 670 and in one monitor 1080p i have 100+ in space, in stations 60, sometimes it goes to 49 but usually 60.

Overclock your i5. I'm running 3440x1440 and rarely see dips below 60fps (posh station interiors drop to to just under 50). i5 is @4.3. My 970 is a factory overclocked one (KFA2 Infin8) and boosts to 1350+.

Tips on how to do that? I have a similar setup and wouldn't mind a bit of a boost

I could do this setup but I am on a dual sli gtx 970s I might try today and let you know

I tend to keep all three monitors separate becuase I use my other screen to manage nightbot and my stream.

Im running an R9 270 with 3 screens @ 5760x1080 with everything turned up as high as it will go.

i get 40-50fps when outside of a station and around 30fps when inside a station. its not 60fps but its still high enough to be eminently playable with no noticeable judder (at least none that isnt caused by the game!).

I run 3 asus 1920x1200 with a GTX 760. It runs fine. About 30 fps in very heavy asteroid fields is the minimum I get, normally its near 60 fps.

Your 970 should cream it!

Very motherboard dependent (I'm using a gigabyte Z77x-ud5h) but my cpu voltage is at 1.25 with an offset of -.15 for 4.3 on all cores. Cooling is a Corsair H80i and under load late 50s/low 60s cpu temps depending on what game/task. Graphics card is about mid-60s temps.

Tips on how to do that? I have a similar setup and wouldn't mind a bit of a boost

I run a (overclocked) GTX690 at that resolution with an old i5-750 @4ghz and only get fps drops/stutter going into stations and near planets, or occasionally very heavy RES. From what i've read online, the 690 is roughly comparable to a 980, and a 970 is just a little slower so i would expect you will be fine assuming your CPU is up to the task. My VRAM usage hovers between 1-2gb per GPU depending on where i am.

If at all possible i'd recommend rotating the monitors into portrait mode. I can't because their mounts are fixed (3x Samsung 22") but i find the missing vertical height is a nuisance and the full width across 3 monitors is mostly wasted.
Due to some issues with Vista and crossfire i get rubbish fps on 2x HD7770cu's so even tho' i have three monitors i just use the one and keep the others for forums/teamspeak/spreadsheets etc.
