Orders 23-27 OCT 3308

Project Status:

TDW space is looking mighty fine coming out the weekend CMDRs! Pretty much all of the nasty bits (states/conflicts) that needed handling were done quite masterfully by all of you. There is one “time sensitive '' conflict (just because it’s at 0-0 and running out of time) as well as a close one for TDW in ROSS 1015, but all the rest just got started so we have plenty of time to get those sorted. There are also a few systems needing massaging, Anyanwu is the “worst” of them, basically we need Aeglips to not feel left out too much and leave, but also want to avoid any conflicts in the process, see the general missions section below for exactly what is needed there. While scrolling down to read that part, don’t miss the other things that the TDW BGS BUFFET has available for your play sessions.

Additionally, I believe that the dust up in LP 787-52 has been resolved, we have had the larger diplomatic discussion and Star Pilots have indicated that they only wish to remain in the system, as such they will occupy the #3 slot per Minutemen’s desire for how the system should be (and since it’s their system, it’s their call).

Items of note:

Anyanwu - TDW could use a boost here to keep the gap, at the same time, doing missions for LHS 346 Democrats and Aegilips Co (who are really low) would help steal inf from the #2 system and promote overall stability here (especially if the Dems catch more INF than Aeglips do so they don't get into a fight)

Coelrind - Expecting a likely conflict with Alchemy Den here, if/when that happens, feel free to ignore, TDW has plenty of INF here

Lave - TDW is pretty healthy, but LRN continues its slow decline. Low factions are still being used to leech influence away. Work for LRN and a bit for TDW here. Lave system is one of the exceptions where we will work to assist the owning faction more than usual.

LHS 417 - We can ignore the conflict here, but afterwards a couple of missions to fix INF would be good

Yuqui - Need a few missions here for TDW as the gap between us and TEAC isn’t quite wide enough

Turning the Wheel remains in the final planned phase of the project. Our primary goals during this phase are to maintain the systems that The Dark Wheel controls for BGS stability and to continue to expand TDW into neighboring systems. If a new system is free from other PMFs and/or PP issues, TDW will take ownership of that system. If other PMFs occupy the system, we will seek an agreement to allow TDW to stay, be friendly, and not attempt to take control of the system. This is the “good neighbor” policy that has worked very well for the project thus far. At present, the current status of TDW in so many systems is in opposition to what the codex entry says. As TDW grows and this difference becomes even greater, it is hoped that this will trigger “something” with respect to Felicity Farseer’s quote in the TDW codex entry.

Above all, we continue Turning the Wheel for the camaraderie that working together for a common goal brings.

As always, if something pops up that “looks odd” see the General Remarks.

Please remember:
  • Do NOT work for other factions in TDW systems, unless requested below.
  • Do NOT hand in trade goods or cartography data to stations that we do not own.
  • Do NOT hand in bounties for any faction other than TDW in our systems.

Possible Next Expansion Trigger System:
TDW Missions for INF, Cartography Data and Trade Profits at TDW controlled stations, and Bounty Voucher turn ins are desired at:
Keep building TDW in Santy and maintain us around 65% in LHS 397. Both are possible strategic expansion points.
Knock out the last little bit in LHS 306 to take advantage of our high influence. (We’ve actually dropped a bit here instead!)

Conflicts:
86 Mu Herculis War - Support Coljanja Gold Power Services 0-0 (nearing calendar limit)
BD-18 3106 Elections - Support LHS 2335 Group 0-0
HR 4979 War - Support Alliance of CD-33 8748 0-0 (winning will fix the INF loss from outbreak)
LTT 5455 War - Support Minutemen 1-0
Nu-2 Canis Majoris War - Support TDW 0-0
Ross 1015 Elections - Support TDW 2-3

Ross 154 War - Support Barnard's Star Advanced Corp 0-1

Bounty Hunting:
Bounty hunting in any of our controlled systems (9 PUPPIS and/or ANYANWU Compromised Nav Beacons and/or Resource Extraction Sites in TDW controlled systems are great places to go).
Turn in TDW bounty vouchers earned in these locations:
  • LHS 397, Santy , LHS 306
  • Lave

General Missions & Passengers:
Note: Work Missions for INF in the following systems for the given faction, when moving these factions up above the native factions, if a conflict starts, we typically want these non-native factions to WIN those conflicts against native factions
Anyanwu - The Dark Wheel - Just a few missions to balance the next two lines
Anyanwu - LHS 346 Democrats 9.7% - in a decent position, but a couple of missions would help lower the #2 here
Anyanwu - Aegilips Co 4.0% - far closer to the retreat threshold than desired, a few mission to bump them to the 6-8% would be very good
Hrimfaxi - Kaupolock PLC - a couple of missions will put them slightly higher for stability
Phra Lak - The Dark Wheel - A few missions to keep widening the gap to #2 would be very good
Yuqui - TDW could use a few missions for gap reasons
Lave - some missions for LRN and TDW, but more for LRN than TDW

Commodity Trading AND/OR Exploration Data:
Trade and Cartographic data into TDW owned stations in the following systems:
  • Phra Lak - Schiltberger Station (All Pads)
  • Yuqui - Fremont Port (All Pads)
  • LHS 397 - Zillig Depot (All Pads)
  • LHS 306 - Melvin Port (All Pads)
(Any TDW station in systems where our influence is between 40 and 50%)

Preferred #2 non-native factions for long term stability:
9 PUPPIS - Ralu Independents
ANYANWU - Alliance of LTT 5419
HR 4979 - Alliance of CD-33 8748
LHS 397 - Sol Workers' Party
LTT 5455 - GQ Virginis at #2, Minutemen #3
Santy - Independents of Isleta and Green Party of Sameni at 2,3
WOLF 629 - Sol Workers' Party

General Remarks:
Where TDW is a guest, we want to be above the natives, ideally not conflicting with other player factions, and never in conflict with the controlling faction. 15-20% INF is a good max, unless otherwise indicated
  • ARQUE - TDW is a guest of Alliance Rapid-reaction Corps, no work required here
  • CHARONIUM - TDW is a guest here with LSR but with no diplomatic comms with Star Pilots
  • CHONTANTICI - TDW is a guest of Wolf 406 Transport & Co (AEDC)
  • COELRIND - Hudson PP system, Dukes of Coelrind to control here
  • DOMOTWA - TDW is a guest of Sidewinder Syndicate
  • HAHGWE - TDW is a guest of Civitas Dei
  • JAUNERA - TDW is a guest of Delta Squadron and is preferred for the #2 slot
  • LAVE - TDW is a guest of Lave Radio Network
  • LHS 1857 - TDW is a guest of Flotta Stellare
  • LHS 417 - TDW is a guest of Blood Brothers from Alrai
  • LP 787-52 - TDW is a guest of Minutemen and is preferred for the #2 slot
  • ROSS 1015 - TDW is a guest of Terran Colonial Forces
  • SOKOJI - TDW is a guest of Wolf 406 Transport & Co (AEDC)
  • WOLF 433 - TDW is a guest of LHS 2541 Alliance Combine (AEDC)
  • As a general rule, when factions in a TDW system are in conflict, we want the native faction (N by their name in Inara) to LOSE. Where two non-native factions conflict, neither winner is “desired”
  • Another general rule, we want non-native factions above the native factions to avoid invasions. Take note that when factions are above 7% influence, and two of them match in %INF, and at least one of them has an asset, this will trigger a conflict. Where possible keep a few % between non-native factions to avoid a conflict as the loser will likely need to get boosted back up above the native factions for stability of the system.

Please continue to use EDMC or similar tools to keep local data up to date.

Miss Crypto has finished off her homework early this week so she's ready for Thursday. Don't give her something nasty that requires her devious attention!

(Who said gaming and schoolwork don't go together - this has been a very solid motivation for her!)

Understand, you greedy satanic gold hunters and comic book readers, that no one agrees to the 3rd place, as well as the 2nd place. Therefore, have the courage and play in an open game. Catch another quote: It is better to die standing than to live on your knees (D. Ibarruri) ¡No pasarán!

Well folks, I think I might be soon out of a "job" in preparing these orders. Tonight, I set Miss Crypto the task of evaluating all TDW systems to write up the notes we use to produce the orders. She has successfully evaluated every TDW system and highlighted the actions we need to take with 100% accuracy all on her own. We now have to actually write up the orders template and paste it in the usual places but the hard work is done. Grumpy old Crypto can put his feet up and relax!

Orders 28-30 OCT 3308

Project Status:

Well Commanders, after a delay due to RL drama, I’m back with Miss Crypto to cast our eyes over the current status of The Dark Wheel. We have a number of conflicts that have run away from us a bit and are looking to complete with the wrong victor. Lets attempt to pull them back if possible. Most will not be a disaster regardless of outcome. TDW needs some general support in a number of systems and has a possibility for expansion in Hrimfaxi.

Items of note:

Anyanwu - This system needs a bit more fine tuning as per last orders but we have higher priorities for now.

Coelrind - Low priority conflict here - may as well win for TDW by a single day. Currently 0-0.

Lave - An ongoing task - boost LRN and a bit of support for TDW. Big system, slow movements.

Yuqui - TDW and TEAC are still a bit close - general boost for TDW.

The following conflicts are going the wrong way:
BD-18 3106 Elections-Support LHS 2335 Group 1-3
*HR 4979 War-Support Alliance of CD-33 8748 0-3
LTT 5455 War-Support Minutemen 1-2
Ross 154 TDW Own War - Support BSAC 2-3

Project Status:

Happy Halloween CMDRs! Excellent job turning around most of those conflicts from the last update! Those that didn’t quite make it mean that we need to do some INF buffing to those factions, but that is rather easy to knock out. The only real “eyebrow raiser” is in Anyanwu with the LHS 346 Democrats falling quite low, with any lusk some good missions for INF can get sent their way before the next BGS tick and this place won’t be an issue, but if the retreat state hits, just keep the INF rolling to make it go away. Looking at the rest of the data, we have a number of conflicts still in the mix, so grab your favorite set of kit and get your combat and/or ballot box stuffing on! Also, I am keeping an eye on Hrimfaxi, looks like very soon we can likely expand TDW to another system! See all of you out there in TDW space CMDRs!

Items of note:

Anyanwu - LHS 346 Democrats lost their conflict and are now a retreat risk, missions to push them to 8% would be good

Chontantici - Can ignore the conflict here

Hrimfaxi - Support Kaupolock PLC in War, is currently going the wrong way at 0-2

Lave - An ongoing task - boost LRN and a bit of support for TDW. Big system, slow movements, think marathon not a sprint

Yuqui - TDW and TEAC are still a bit close - general boost for TDW

Goodness! LHS 346 Democrats Faction INF (in the Anyanwu System) was very low at 1.1% yesterday. So much better now at 5.3%. Quickly, too!
Nothing like teamwork

Noted that we await advice from TCF.

It doesnt really matter to us. Being #2 would make life a little easier. TCF may prefer Workers as the #2 faction as conflicts between them result in elections which are generally less contested as ballot stuffing is a lot less fun than shooting at things.

I'd prefer to be ahead of NPI but again it doesnt really matter. The low population and 4 non-native factions will always make systems like this reasonably unstable. Keeping us in the 6-15% ish range and out of danger from retreats or invasions is all that is needed.

The default answer for most systems where we are not in control is "dont care". These systems are always somewhat of a drain on our resources, micro-managing systems for other's benefit. Feel free to meddle if the game loop on offer is something you want to do.

Miss Crypto and I will be processing orders starting in about an hour. Got a few RL chores to conquer first!

Orders 03 NOV - 06 NOV 3308

Project Status:

Greetings Commanders! Things in TDW space seem to mostly be under control. There are a slightly higher number of conflicts than usual. We also have a number of systems where TDW influence is tending slowly downwards. Our influence in HR 4979 is very close to expansion level so we may as well kick that over the line if we can, then repair the non-natives in system before they get in trouble. Miss Crypto is pleased to see our progress over the last week.

Items of note:

Anyanwu - LHS 346 Democrats are now in a war with infrastructure failure bleeding influence daily. They really need to win this one strongly. Currently 0-0

Arque - TDW close to retreat levels. Boost TDW a bit.

Chontantici - Can ignore the conflict here TDW 2-0 up currently.
Nu-2 Canis - Can ignore the war here too. TDW 0-0.

Hrimfaxi - Support Kaupolock PLC in yet another War.

Lave - An ongoing task - boost LRN and a bit of support for TDW. Both seem to have slipped a little

LHS 1857 - Flotta Stellare are under attack for control here. This is the second war in short order. I believe EDF are being used as a proxy by another group. Support Flotta Stellare in the war then look to put us back into #2

Santy - Two conflicts are tying up all the influence and have dragged TDW down significantly. Resolve the conflicts then boost TDW back up again.

Turning the Wheel remains in the final planned phase of the project. Our primary goals during this phase are to maintain the systems that The Dark Wheel controls for BGS stability and to continue to expand TDW into neighboring systems. Note: Work Missions for INF in the following systems for the given faction, when moving these factions up above the native factions, if a conflict starts, we typically want these non-native factions to WIN those conflicts against native factions

  • Lave - some missions for LRN and TDW, but more for LRN than TDW (ongoing)
  • General TDW support in HR 4979 and any TDW system between 40 and 50% (lots of them!)

Commodity Trading AND/OR Exploration Data:
Trade and Cartographic data into TDW owned stations in the following systems:

TCF would like to see TDW in #2 at ROSS 1015, but are not overly concerned if that changes, specifically noting that particular system is always a bit of a chore...

Interesting how NPI (in Ross 1015) took such a big step upward - from 5.5% to 11.9%. Since they're non-native, it's just "interesting" (academic). Just thought I'd check on who #2 should be.

Project Status:

Greetings Commanders! Things in TDW space seem to still mostly be under control, though there are quite the number of conflicts... TDW influence in both Hrimfaxi and HR 4979 is very close to expansion level so we may as well kick one of them over the line if we can, then repair the non-natives in system before they get in trouble. Let's get things tidied up to see what the Crypto's have for a plan on Thursday

Items of note:

LP 787-52 - Minutemen have gotten enough INF to get their expansion started, now we need to patch up TDW (which is actually quite close to triggering a retreat) and get back the #2 spot with ~20% INF

Wolf 433 - The war here has been met with some resistance but has been clawed back to a 3-3 today, the tick tomorrow is ripe for the benefits of a hard fought win for TDW

Anyanwu - LHS 346 Democrats are clear of their bad states, but still in a war that they really need to win to avoid troubles. Currently 2-1

HR 4979 - Keep an eye on Alliance of CD-33 8748, currently ok on INF, but a couple missions will make sure they don't retreat by keeping the INF where it is

Santy - The Dark Wheel 37.6% - A few missions here to get back to 50% or so (future planning)

Lave - Starting to shows signs of some nice stability, just a little while longer boosting LRN and a bit of support for TDW and things should be good

Keep building TDW in Santy (needs conflicts resolved first) and maintain us around 65% in LHS 397. Both are possible strategic expansion points.
Hrimfaxi has gone off the boil a bit, but HR 4979 is almost at expansion. Boost TDW enough to get us over 75%

Anyanwu War - Support LHS 346 Democrats 2-1
BD-18 3106 War - Support LHS 2335 0-2

Hrimfaxi War - Support Kaupolock PLC 1-0

  • LP 787-52 - The Dark Wheel 3.4% - INF recovery from Minutemen going for their expansion here, want ~20% INF and #2 in the system, will likely involve a conflict on the way up

Project Status:

Hello Commanders. The Dark Wheel continues to enjoy relatively stable systems. Hrimfaxi and Turdetani look to be closest to expansion but both have conflicts that tie up significant influence and thus probably will not get over the line for a while yet. We have the usual selection of conflicts to meddle with and some general maintenance chores to look after. BGS as usual in other words! Wolfdragon has some RL getting in the way of internet spaceships, so Miss Crypto and I will handle Sunday’s update this week.

Items of note:

LP 787-52 - We now have a war with Star Pilots, but this appears to be due to the Minutemen expansion pushing us together rather than anything nefarious. Win this war for TDW by only a day or two.

Anyanwu - Aegilips Co have an Infrastructure Failure and are at risk of retreat. Missions to offset the daily loss is needed.

HR 4979 - Keep an eye on Alliance of CD-33 8748, retreat state nearly over.

Santy - Continue to boost TDW back over 50% and win the war for Independents of Isleta by one day.

Lave - This system is looking much better. Would prefer LRN at ~55% and TDW at ~15% so there is still some more to go for both.

LTT 5455 - Minutemen quite low, risk retreat.
