Project Status:


The Dark Wheel is once again expanding! This time it is out of HR 4979 and will end Aug 28-30!
Fantastic job CMDRs! Now we get to let that system calm down and see where TDW lands

The details in Charonium have been ironed out with the Leviathan Scout Regiment. The good neighbors policy is the rule of the day, TDW will be no higher than #2 in the system and 20% INF is ideal.

Turdetani - Federal Reclamation Co’s BGS managers and I have been discussing this system and have arrived at an agreement where FRC will assume control of the system as well as the BGS activities there and TDW will remain at #2 with a station to be used to stabilize the BGS. This gives FRC a system they would like to control and keeps TDW in the system at a stable position. All goodness all around! When it comes time for the conflict, we want TDW to LOSE that one.

TDW is #2 in BD-18 3106 and climbing fast! Excellent job CMDRs! Keep that INF rolling and the system will fly the TDW flag very soon!!

Did you try to keep their profile low? Maybe they want 0.5% in S-D only? By the lore they would like to be shady.
We did do an operation to make things happen in ShinDez, granted it was to try to see if an expansion could occur, the end result after getting VERY odd results and presenting data was Fdev telling us that ShinDez like other "special systems" are above the petty squabbles of the BGS, meaning that there is another set of rules there that self corrects the system.

Looking at the EliteBGS archive, there was a crash of that sort around the Odyssey release (settlement-related, most likely). Didn't seem to do anything, and wouldn't have been sustainable without that early imbalance in settlement actions.

The results you got were pretty understandable, I think. Don't underestimate the power of several thousand players taking random actions each day.

meaning that there is another set of rules there that self corrects the system.
The special systems rules prevent conflicts and inbound expansions. That's enough to stop "petty squabbles". You interpreted what they said to mean more than that, but it doesn't have to and there's pretty strong counter-evidence that it doesn't. [1] There's no need to postulate extra rules for self-correction when the standard ones are sufficient.

Self-correction is just a function of how the BGS works at extremely high traffic levels - every faction gets pushed deep into diminishing returns on all its curves, and the ease of gaining influence decreases the higher you already are. The special systems are of course high traffic - and the forced lack of conflicts also serves to stabilise influence further - but the same effects can be seen in lower-traffic ones.

[1] Most recently, the crash of TDW influence around the Odyssey release. Understandable given the effect of settlement missions was way off in the early Odyssey days - but also a demonstration of the sheer power of passing traffic. And something that couldn't have happened if there was a separate self-correction rule in there - the influence spread which occurred, and the rate it happened at, was far larger than anything you saw.

Turdetani - We want Federal Reclamation Co. to take control of this system, any work here should be done to benefit them instead of The Dark Wheel. When it comes time for the conflict for system control, we want TDW to LOSE that one.

LP 787-52 - The Minutemen have approached me to be the ones to run the BGS here and keep TDW at #2. We want to hand this system over for them to control so they can do just that!

TDW is #2 in BD-18 3106 but the climb has stalled. Let’s take advantage of the light work this week and redouble our efforts to make TDW own this system!

Correct, this is certainly a lower priority item than taking the system

With a 9.3% influence triggering war and no negative states (though this may change) the loss result of that would be approximately 4.3% on a 4-X loss.
Easily fixable after the fact. Further, if the war is allowed to expire (7 day limit) rather than being forced to end in a 4-X, the amount of inf lost on the losing side will be lessened.
So, if you are inclined, absolutely help LHS 2335 Group win that war.

HR 4979 Expansion has ended with a landing in YUQUI. There are no player factions here and the arrival was uncontested due to prior retreat. TDW is currently at war here for #3 in the system!

Where two non-native factions conflict, neither winner is “desired”, depending on INF level after the conflict, we would likely boost the LOSER to avoid retreat (happens at 2.5% or lower). Two native factions in conflict can be ignored and their INF in the system can be addressed after the conflict ends.
  • Another general rule, we want non-native factions above the native factions to avoid invasions. Take note that when factions are above 7% influence, and two of them match in %INF, and at least one of them has an asset, this will trigger a conflict. Where possible keep a few % between non-native factions to avoid a conflict as the loser will likely need to get boosted back up above the native factions for stability of the system.

That was a close one! I was working the CZs all night when they suddenly disappeared and I dropped out some 15km from a FC instead of at the expected CZ. I figured that war had ended, but didn't know which way. A look at the "news" upon returing to (now) our port revealed...

We want to keep boosting INF here to solidify the hold on the system.

TDW has a couple of wars that need winning in YUQUI and CHONTANTICI. The win in YUQUI will help TDW climb the ladder with the goal of system control and winning in CHONTANTICI will keep TDW right where they need to be for our “good neighbors” policy.

There is also some general housekeeping to take care of in a handful of systems, but all of you know EXACTLY how to handle those items, see below

BD-18 3106 is solidly in the hands of The Dark Wheel! AWESOME JOB CMDRs!
Just a little conflict cleanup there with one minor faction and that system will be in maintenance mode.

The conflicts in CHONTANTICI and YUQUI are both 3-0 and should wrap up on the tick, but let’s make sure they go the way we want. After that TDW is in elections in WOLF 433, so stuff those ballot boxes CMDRs!
