Ships Type-10 Released!

I think about it this way: Lakon fans like myself want an end game ship that can compete with the Anaconda, the Cutter, or the Corvette. The ship looks so awesome so it would be ideal if it actually delivered on this. We didn't get that today unless you are an alien fighting specialist who is loaded up with AX weapons. I think the part for me that makes me sad today is that for mining the Type-10 is pretty darn close, but that class 6 PD snatches defeat from the jaws of awesomeness.

I'll still get one, but I won't end up using it that often which is a shame.

Yeah-yeah, but what about the Zorgon Peterson fans? We want a cargo haluer, an explorer, a large multipurpose... ;)

Compete with what though?

I have my endgame ships already and they are my DBX for exploration, my Cobra Mk4 for planetary scavanging and trading, Vulture for Combat and the cobra mk3 for what ever I want to use it for. I also have a keelback for when I want to use a SLF.

The anaconda, corvette and cutter are only endgame ships if you make them endgame ships. Personally I have no use for them. Why does the Lakon ship need to compete with those three?

Again a big ship with NO SIZE 1 module slots - many dont care I know, i find it ridiculous. As if the manufactures dont know that there are some size 1 modules that could be better fitted in a size 1 slot instead WASTING SPACE using a size 2 or 3 or 4 slot!

That does anyone me too. If you want to fit a class 1 ADS or DSS I find it wasteful to put then in class 3 or 4 slots because that's the smallest a ship has.

Balancing something just because engineers exist is a falacy though. It should be balanced against other ship’s base stats, right now it seems that might not entirely be the case?

What if I told you theorycrafting has a poor track record? And that the same people writing off type-9 now, wrote off Cutter day one, as well. What if I told you that maybe the forums don't have all the answers? Make you think. Type-10 has vast potential.

Folks are just hung up on the PD and aren't seeing straight. Same thing happened with Cutter.

Yeah I'm being a bit of a party pooper here. I'll stop. Wish we got a class 7 PD though, it would have made a VERY big difference to me. Enjoy the new ship CMDR's!

Class 6 PD is a shame; it absolutely trashes type-9 though, why use one when for about 40 mil more, you can have a crapton more power in the type-10, with better handling, more speed, way way more shield and more utility.

Yeah, sadly the design of the T10 makes the T9 completely obsolete.

RIP space cow. :(

Do you? Ugh. Okay, here goes: The anaconda is not just an endgame ship because people make it one. It’s an endgame ship because it’s stupidly maneuvrable for its size, has waaaaaay too much firepower to be fair, costs a fraction of the price of a federal corvette and performs about 60-80% as well, beating it by a large margin for cost/usability. It’s stupidly versatile, can do literally any profession in the game with style, so aside from all that, nothing endgame about at all -.-

Tl;Dr: since the type 10 costs about 120 mil and an anaconda 147 mil, and the python 57 mil so roughly half its price, it’s fairly reasonable to compare it to those ships. And, from what we can see, in terms of pure firepower, the slight more expensive anaconda blows it out of the water for basically any non-xeno activity. Which, last I checked, for quite a lot of players is... 100% of their game? That’s why you will see a few complaints about its pd here and there, if it was one class higher it would be pretty competive for pve choices etc.

so I flew my anaconda over and slapped its dd5 a rated thrusters on it... honestly it's not bad, I haven't flown the type 10 but I've flown the other big 3. Seems to fly kind of like an anaconda, max boost speed was 293, turn rates aren't bad. Granted this is isn't the best dd5 drives and it's stock, so ymmv.

Oh chill your beans, it's a game that needs balance.

I find it a little ridiculous explorers don't have C1 slots, but outside that there's no requirement for FD to give every ship in the game free scanner compartments to fulfill moody players' OCD.

A slot 1 can be used for cargo if you dont want to use other C1 modules, so its not wasted space.

BTW what does OCD stands for?

Well, bought mine in SD, immediately took it to Lori Jameson and got the Life-Support and sensors G5 light weight, then went to Felicity Farseer for an FSD mod and I'm getting....

36Ly out of it! [up]

Admittedly, it won't stay like this cos it's currently unarmed, unarmored and fitted with a 6A PP but it's definitely got potential as a significant upgrade over the T9 as a cargo ship.

Also, if you can explore in a T9, you can definitely explore in this.

It has more shield potential than python; it has 9 hardpoints; it has a crap-ton of armour and a larger power plant.

It will also spend most of its time watching dem mega shields recharge because it can't sustain the capacitor

Also all the armchair experts that are writing off a ship because it has a class 6 PD, without even bothering to look at it and notice all the other disgustingly good stats. Righto. Your loss.

I brought that up as the crowning point of its "ehwot" moments, but I just don't see it being the specialised tharg hunter/combat ship it was intended to be.

I referred to the Python semi-facetiously, but while I understand not everyone has the rep or the patience to learn to fly it, I can't see the T10 outcompeting the iCutter for expensive tharg killers. King of shields, better distributor to maintain them, hardpoints aren't terrible for fixed weapons other than the nacelles, looks fit, very fast...

As I imply though, I got a bit more love for the iCutter than most. I don't get people's issues flying it in PvE. If ya try turn fighting in it, it gon' go bad.

A slot 1 can be used for cargo if you dont want to use other C1 modules, so its not wasted space.

I didn't suggest it would be wasteful - quite the opposite. I am saying you aren't entitled to have every ship contain internals that suit you. Why should a trade ship be optimised for scanners?

I did suggest though this doesn't apply to explorers specifically. Any dedicated explorer ship, and preferably scout ship, should have two dedicated scanner slots akin to military slots for navy ships.

And my apologies, I should have noticed the "international" badge. OCD = obsessive compulsive disorder. Used frequently in a colloquial (informal) way to refer to an annoyance at anything that doesn't line up or look perfect - for instance, getting annoyed because you have C1 items in a C3 slot.
