Ships Type-10 Released!

Thanks! In case you want it:

<MatrixRed> 0.3, 0.45, 1 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0.37, 1, 1 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 1, 0.3, 0 </MatrixBlue>

Sweet.
Is that HUD always that far away, or do you have your settings set a particular way or your resolution really high or something?

Earlier today 4 ships conducted a series of basic flight maneuvers in the LHS 20 system close to the Ohm City station.
During the flight tests, the same thrusters were swapped from one ship to the next in order to minimise discrepancies arising from differing performance characteristics.
All tests were conducted with 2 pips to engines.
Static tests were conducted with each ship stationary.
Dynamic tests were conducted with the throttle set to 50%.
The results of those flight operations were recorded and are presented here for your edification.

The four ships involved were as follows:-

Type 9 Heavy.
Weight: 1643t
Drives: 7A CD5
Speed/Boost: 168/259

Anaconda
Weight: 1240t
Drives: 7A CD5
Speed/Boost: 249/331

Corvette
Weight: 1840
Drives: 7A DD5
Speed/Boost: 265/345

Type 10 Defender.
Weight: 1686
Drives: 7A CD5
Speed/Boost: 225/275

Type 10 Defender.
Weight: 1686
Drives: 7A DD5
Speed/Boost: 244/298

Test 1: Pitch. Static 360° Loop.
Type 9: 20s. Anaconda: 14s. Corvette: 14s. T10 CD5/DD5: 17s/16s.

Test 2: Roll. Static 360° Roll.
Type 9: 16s. Anaconda: 5s. Corvette: 5s. T10 CD5/DD5: 9s/7s

Test 3: Yaw. Static 360° Flat Turn.
Type 9: 43s. Anaconda: 32s. Corvette: 43s. T10 CD5/DD5:44s/40s

Test 4: Pitch. Dynamic 360° Loop.
Type 9: 16s. Anaconda: 12s. Corvette: 11s. T10 CD5/DD5: 14s/13s.

Test 5: Roll. Dynamic 360° Roll.
Type 9: 13s. Anaconda: 4s. Corvette: 3s. T10 CD5/DD5: 7s/5s.

Test 6: Yaw. Dynamic 360° Flat Turn.
Type 9: 35s. Anaconda: 26s. Corvette: 34s. T10 CD5/DD5: 41s/32s.

So after testing out my all plasma and 2 rail build i found out 1 big issue with the ship, its large HP placement.

If this thing is supposed to be fight thargoids it will have to use medium AX weapons. Multicrew won't help because gunners cant target the hearts.

So a well engineered t9 should handle better?
I have spent some time engineering my t9 and I love the way it handles now.

Yeah, sadly the design of the T10 makes the T9 completely obsolete.

RIP space cow. :(

Yeah, the T10 does sadly seem to make the T9 pretty useless. That's a shame.

That C6 PD is limiting but with a mostly kinetic weapon loadout it might do okay against NPC's. For Thargoid hunting this ship should do nicely though, as I think it can field the best AX+Flak array in the game now? I'm gonna buy a T10 and try some combat mining in it, lol. I might even fit it out and take another crack at soloing a Cyclops now, maybe this ship will finally give me a fighting chance...

It appears to be almost completely useless for goid hunting, the HP placement will make sure of that.

Nice! So, what I'm seeing here is that for those maneuvers, the T-10 is only worse than the Anaconda by as much the Anaconda is as worse than the Corvette?

That's gonna make some "The Anaconda is so close to the Corvette, the agility difference is irrelevant"-heads pop. :)

How are the directional thrusters on it?

comps are for clean 5 on the type 9, and type ten clean 5 and dirty 5. in most of the comparisons the type 10 clean 5 beats out the type 9 clean 5, sometimes dramatically. The only exception seems to be yaw which is pretty terrible on both.

Cost (Founders World): 109,472,813

2x Small Hardpoints
3x Medium Hardpoints
4x Large Hardpoints

Power Plant Size: 6

1x Size 7
1x Size 6
1x Size 5
2x Size 4
2x Size 3

And I was hoping for more juice to run those hardpoints- oh well. <sad> [blah]

EDIT:

Dunno where your stats are from, but they are wrong.

3x medium
4x large
2x small

8x utility

8 PP
7 thruster
7 FSD
5 Life
6 PD
4 Sensor
6 Fuel

1x 8

Powerplant is an 8 slot, same as other big 3.

How are the directional thrusters on it?

I didn't test them in any meaningful way but the handling feels fairly sharp when doing stuff like lining up for the mailslot and landing etc.

I suppose I could ship 'em all to a surface outpost and try launching vertically to a given altitude.
I also want to do some acceleration tests too.

Oh my bad.
Thought the t9 was stock (must work on attention span of a goldfish)
Still love my trusty t 9 though.

gotta say after looking at the numbers, this ship *feels* like an anaconda that is slightly worse. People have mentioned more ax weaponry, but poor hp placement which negates some of that advantage against thargoids... But as far as I can tell, it's slightly slower, slightly less agile, slightly less firepower (except ax), less jump range, way worse distributor

advantages over anaconda - slightly more cargo, runs cooler, price?

when you get up to that price point I don't see the 20mil as meaning anything really, what do you guys think? am I missing something?

Actually on DPS it is now the highest in the game. For an example all pulse laser build you are looking at:

CONDA = 121.2 DPS
CORVETTE = 111.9 DPS
CUTTER = 111.5 DPS
TYPE 10 = 124.5 DPS

If you were looking at a ridiculous frag cannon alpha damage build it's even more ridiculous:

CONDA = 1291.1 DPS
CORVETTE = 1075.8 DPS
CUTTER = 1220.4 DPS
TYPE 10 = 1434.6 DPS

Obviously after the PD is dry that DPS gets a bit meaningless but for an alpha strike it could be pretty devastating. Maybe a griefing tool.

No this ship does not compete with the big-3 in most aspects. A good solution for Thargoid combat and a stepping stone ship for most others.

"Stepping stone ship"??? Are you serious?

A-rated T10 is roughly equal A-rated Conda. Anyone who chooses T10 over Conda is most likely mentally challenged (thank you USA for this wonderful epithet!)

Don't see a reason for selling the t9 for it.
Might just buy one to give it a go
