Ships Type-10 Released!

How is the T10 a mediocre trade ship? It has the exact same optional internals as the T9 has, but with the added benefit of a larger FSD and thrusters. So with the same amount of cargo the T10 can jump farther, maneuver better, and fly faster than the T9. It completely makes the T9 obsolete as anything other than a stepping stone IMHO. And oh yeah, the T10 can defend itself better to boot.

It doesn't have the same internals, it trades some cargo for military slots. Am keeping my T9 traders, my engineered T9 miners will be donating parts to a couple of T-10's, I'll use those old miners as storage and module transfer ships. 1 T-10 miner, 1 T-10 military heavy multipurpose.

I've flown the T9 for years, it doesn't need more defence for PvE cargo runs, doesn't need extra speed for those 9km in and out of the NFZ

For trading? Have you ran the numbers? Unless I finger-fumbled at ED Shipyard the T10 hauls a significant (to me) lesser cargo amount. IIRC about 65-70 tons. And I gain what for 200+ million?
An extra couple LY of jump distance? A minor (that doesn't matter to enemy ships) increase in speed?
As above now throw some very minor Engineering at the 9 and even those minor differences go away.
Trade away if you want in a T10 but I'll stick with the 9. Or if you have some T9 phobia going get a TradaConda for the same (or less) money you'll be shelling out for a T10. And have a way better ship.

The distro makes using biweaves vs Aliens a no-go proposition, unless you use undersized C6 Biweaves. Otherwise the regen will rapidly drain your SYS to zero, and if their EMP goes off in this minute long window, the anti-shutdown device won't have any juice to function. Which will leave you shieldless and adrift.

Somehow the trade ship line up is:

Cutter > Anaconda > type 9 > type 10

And not:

Cutter > Anaconda > type 10 > type 9

Despite the type 10 being very similar to the Conda in a lot of aspects.

Awful fixed weapon convergence for a supposed fighting ship, especially considering its intended role, this is the deal breaker for me. That and the glacial handling in sc. What a disappointment.

No real burn with your evaluation except I put the Anaconda and T9 at a trading equivalence based on how, what, and where you are trading.

It's possible Fdev wanted this ship to be a hull tank.....

Oh dear.....

Yeah its similar in some aspects, but the Conda is simply better in most ways for roughly the same price.

Not saying the Type-10 is automatically terrible, but its seems have a very niche use whereas other ships in the same price range have much better versatility and are useful in more than one role.

If you are gonna make a ship expensive you need to make it worth the price and make it head and shoulders above other ships in the same range or else its just gonna be passed over.

Cockpit view is great, just like the T-9, but you can get this up into the high 30+ LY jump range

I was mostly questioning the "all time great" part of your statement.

The Conda, AspX and the DBX are the all time greats. This thing could be used that way, but its not ever gonna be better than any of those.

Looks like you could probably push 40Ly, not that I've ever cared about jump range, done most of the galaxy in a T9/T7/Cutter. Found and charted the first neutron field in a T9, it's not all about getting from one end of the galaxy to the other in the fastest possible time.

I just remember a time when the type 9 was considered worse than the Conda.

The fact that the only ship nowadays to beat it is the Cutter....

I don't know whether to feel relieved, or turn into a hipster and use the Conda or the type 10 as my trade ship of choice....

Uh, I just redocked my T10 to count the internals again thinking I could have made a mistake, but no I'm still counting the normal stock nine internals the T9 has, with an additional two C5 military slots?

C8
C7
C6
C5
C4
C4
C3
C3
C2
C5 MIL
C5 MIL

I mean, I've not flown my T9 in awhile, but I could have sworn thats what the T9 had as well? Minus the two C5 mil slots of course?
