Type 6 - To boldly go

Last night I found my first "Metal Rich" planet (100% metal) on this trip. I've scanned about 200 systems since I left "civilization" and this is the first one of this type I seen so far.

I had scanned just over 500 systems back in the "bubble", but never paid too much attention to the system map, but now that I'm doing nothing but scanning I always poke around the system map to see what I've discovered, so it might be that Metal Rich planets are a tad on the rare side.

I've been diverting here and there to the systems with G class stars but still no luck finding an Earth-like planet, but it's still early days yet and I've got all the time in the world with no great desire to return.

Ouch - no Elite fix - we feel for ya :) Hang in and stay tough, there are a hell of a lot of systems for you to still find :)

Don't worry, we'll all put an extra hour in to make up for you!

Scanned my first water world with rings.....looked like a gas giant, but when I selected it the image was of a metal rich planet (the icon next to your scanner), so I took a gander anyway. Will be more observant of gas systems in the future.

Having a blast out here, there is just loads and loads of undiscovered systems, broken my 1st 1000 ly from Sol, ship is still in tip top shape and still nothing but darkness out here and not a single cmdr explorer yet.

Stay safe out there everyone.

@newbie

Nice jovian that you found. I like this explorer thingy more than all other activities at time. A litte pew pew us fine alsi but not the hole time. And acutal i'm done with trading.

Maybe i will fit after return my Lakon Type-7 for exploring. With mostly D rated stuff and weapons :) ...you know me... its able to go around 25 Ly. Thats a good range for a heavy trader.

Hmm... maybe i will set sail toward home today. Wanna try this out !

Fly safe and we read us here...

I just had to post these

1st one i have ever come across

And finally found an earth like world - i name it planet newbie and their leader Cmdr pew-pew :D:D

Hello,

like others i like to read the explorer threads.
Right now i'm out in my Adder named 'Humboldt'
My first target has been Rigel from there i went to the California nebula. Now i'm heading towards the Perseus Arm, which i wanna follow till its bas at the center of the Milky Way. It will last a while.
Till now i'm 2.500 ly from Sol and have travelled roundabout 4.000 Ly
My Adder has a jump range of 25 LY+ and 86% hull left. This accident happened when i jumped right into a close binary system.

What do i scan?
Like the most here i scan the system with the advanced scanner and Metal Rich planets if they are within ~ 600 ls. If they are tiny planets i reduce the distance to 250ls.
Gas giant i go till 2.000ls and other suns up to ~15.000, but that depends on the type of the star. Brown Dwarfs max 5.000. They scanner usually start at about 2.500 to 3.000ls
Earthlike and Waterworld planets i go up to 2.000.
When i look into the System Map and i see just Icy Rocks i scan the star , eventually a 2nd or 3th star, that depends on the distance and move on.

What have i found till now?
Earthlikes 4
Waterworlds 15
Neutron Star 1, but i discovered one on the map and i'm going to visit it tonight. It is not far away from my plotted route.

How i'm going to plan my route?
On the zoom out Galaxy Map i'm looking for my rough direction, then zooming in and searching for a star which is close to 1.000 ly away.
Settin a course to this star. of course with the economical feature on.
When the course is plotted i set the planet filter that it shows just the scoopable stars and i'm going to control the path if it has enough gas stations.
Then changing the filter to the unscoopable planets and following the rout again to see, what is the longest part without scoopable stars.
And finally i set the filter to show me just Black Holes, Neutron Star and follow the path a 3rd time, but with a little bit zoomed out.
So i found my first and now the 2nd Neutron Star.

What do i do against the loneliness out there?
Going out into the real live, drinking beer and enjoying ourselves with my friends which do not even think about playing (stupid) computer games, watching football, even when my club VfB Stuttgart (Season Ticket) is the last in the Bundesliga tableau.

Oh this got much longer then planned, but it fits to my journey

I decided a week or so ago to boldly go where no human has been before – or at the very least, very few.
I'll bet my house that where no human has gone before looks rather exactly like every other star system in the Galaxy..... Soo YAWN!!!

I wonder if Amundsen ever said similar (Puts on his best Norwegian accent) "Jeg vedder huset mitt som snø feltet ser ut som alle andre snø feltet på continant":D

((throws a cheery wink, salute and grin at Ripster)) It's marvelous what you can come up with when you are almost 5,000Ly from home and only have stars whizzing past for entertainment:D

True Wyke = I am 9000LY out and on my way home, I will post when I am closer on tips to getting home safe as I have a lot of data and am sort of Human space scared now :)

That's the dangerous time now Ripster. What are you flying? As the biggest risk for me, flying a stripped down (No shield Jenny'd) Sidewinder) is actually NPC pirates in civilized systems.

I can run through the twilight zone no problem, it appears that FD have killed off NPC there altogether. But my main worry is getting a random encounter from an NPC as I do the run in from the sun to station. And knowing my luck, I'd get an elite something or other grab me and rip my lil ship a new one befre I can get back into a hyperspace

I have explored hundres of systems, not one of them is the same. But, if it doesnt float your boat then dont do it.

What a post! You made my day. I have no idea what you have written in Norwegian, but just to mention (especially) Amundsen has a quality of its own. :D
