Type 6 - To boldly go

Hi buddies...

made it back yesterday. In one piece... touched the rim of populated space and sold my data. Got me a few million bucks.

last discovery.jpgsun in his neck.jpg

Then i headed to Volsum. Its my second home out there, after Mokosh. Wasen´t sure which ship to choose. T-7, T-6, Asp... Got the keys for my Asp and took her out for a ride.

Checked the local RES and earned around 200k in about 15 min. Easy money... than headed out for a few nice pics

above the field....jpgout again.jpg

Today i wanna try SweetFX. Anyone here has expericence with it ? The pics are amazing. Here is the forum link. Hope we read each other !

Jim, out...

Just a quick update on my return dash - 7,600LY out and had a mild stand off with a contact Binery. The flying brick took 2% hull damage and some more damage to the systems  BUT we are still in one piece and still heading homeward. I suspect our real issues will begin when we encounter MAN!:(

Rip, look for a system like Manite, which I use as my civilization base. Has a decent station, yet I can jump straight into 'civilized space' from quite deep in the 'Twilight zone' then all I have is just the one run in from the star to the station. As I said earlier, the biggest worry for me is actually NPC's, but that is simply because my Wee Birdie as quite a fragile beastie. By the way, has your FSD taken so much damage that it is starting to misfire? It's more troublesome then a problem but defiantly enough to generate a "What the hell" moment when it starts doing so!

Thank you for the heads up Wyke :)

Still a bit far out to be worried by NPC's but I am sure the fear factor will increase as the distance decreases  Strangely the FSD is better off than most modules - currently 95% so fingers crossed no miss behaving just yet :)

Bah! 95% is just nicely broken in! Mine was down to 65% when I finally docked up!:D I was surprised that the station docking master didn't zap me with a huge fine for the oil and coolant that I left splattered all over the hanger.

Make it 94% now - too fast and too close the last neutron.... :(

I have some way to go before bettering you though Wyke ;)

Whilst zipping back home I am stopped at the Bubble Nebula - all very pretty :)

And flying away.....

Very nice Ripster, haven't found anything like that on my journey yet, i'm now almost 1800 Ly away from Sol, Ships still going strong with no mishaps yet. The last 800 Ly roughly on my route has all been newly discovered systems which is great. i did find a black hole but it had already been discovered.

Fly safe on your journey home.

Hope you surveyed it all the same Newbie? UC will still pay you good credits for fresh, updated info and a black hole will still pay you top credits

yes scanning everything in the systems except the ones that are like 400K+ ls away , takes too long to get there. i did when i first started this 2nd journey but after a few it kinda cuts into your time. This is the way i wanna go but i'll see what happens along the way.

HighResScreenShot_2015-03-19_23-11-05.jpg(Sorry had to use paint to show the route on the map)

Fly safe newbie... seems to be a huge journey !!! And take a lot of pictures.

Thanks Jim, it seems daunting when you look at it cause it is a long journey but many others have probably done a lot further than that, gonna take me quite some time to get back home!

Another progress report. 3,900 LY out from home, no more mishaps (touch wood or T6 plastic :)). making steady progress, still scanning anything interesting, now I wish I had the Asps jump range  Don't tell the flying brick ;)

See you back in Civilization Rip! Just messed up with what I can best describe as being a star nursery, too many of the pesky things for me to dodge!

Oh no!!!!

Have you been out for long? I am sorry if they toasted you, that's bad luck

I just survived a contact binary - pointed the nose between them and hit the engines and just had to hope I didn't go too close and drop out. Just more module damage but am still just in one piece :)

Not to bad, but enough to have me and my lil Sidewinder heading home. Made it out to 7,200 Ly. Will be interesting to see how much I get for cashing my data in, all I have done is D-scan each system as I zipped through. I may have to rethink my wish to be one of the few Sidewinder pilots who get to the galaxy's furthest reach. But saying that , I did double my distance from my first attempt:) So maybe if I can temper myself more and try to keep myself safe from me, it may be worth one more go

After long trading runs around Alioth to get the system permit and to support the Aliance, I suddently felt the urge to get out of there. All this dull trading, all these custom procedures, these dumb politics and fruitless little wares –I felt I didn't have enough room to beathe.
So I dropped all these cargo holds, got a shiny new detailed surface scanner, replaced the basic discovery scanner with an advanced one. After refitting most remaining modules to save weight, I put in the biggest fuel scoop I could get at Rominger Dock at 78 Ursae Majoris and just pointed the nose of my trusty brick „Thusnelda“ towards this sparkly band of our galaxy and headed out.
The first systems where of course discovered by my fellow CMDRs. But then, my first unexplored system. Nothing too special. Just a sun and some icy rocks. But my first, none the less.
I wandered aimlessly into the void. Visiting systems and finding my first gems on the way. Some High Metal content planets. Then first alien live! Granted, just some dumb algae with an ammonia based metabolism floating in the atmosphere of a gas giant. But hey.
But then I hit gold.
HIP 71270, or Audax' Rest as I am inclined to call it. Three suns. Three planets full of metals. Nice. Then, a water world! My first I ever saw apart from the ones in inhabited space. It has an ammonia atmosphere but it's ripe for terraforming. I didn't think it ever could get better. But the next planet, was a water world, too. And a nitrogen atmosphere with a rich life. The place I will retire someday… Gave me some 180.000 creds too.

As I reached out for the center, I felt I could do something more for my „Thusnelda“. The turn of speed lacks somewhat. And as I found out there's Pratchett's Disc Station at HIP 74290 I speeded towards the station, deciding that it makes a nice starting point for another journey.
But first I cashed in some 1.3 million credits and got my Trailblazer rank, not too bad for a spontaneous trip into the void.

I can hear the call of Sagittarius A*…

You know guys, it is such a shame that FD don't support an official player Guild/Corporation system. I actually enjoy all of the explorer posts, both here and in other threads. I could see it now

'The Extraordinary Ladies and Gentleman's Exploration Club'
or
'The League of Extraordinary Lady and Gentleman Explorers'

Somewhere nice for us to swap tales of daring do, or discuss the merits different ship fittings. All while sat around a roaring fire and with a glass of brandy in hand!
