I like the T6, it looks a bit like my VW T25 campervan, which is also called a brick.

I've not been playing long and it's my third ship.
Started some long hauling of Rares (58t on board)and decided to show my wife this lovely spot in the middle of a planetary ring. You know the kind, the back lit planet in the background and the ice chunks near the ship. Debug camera on, nice:) Then for some unknown reason I thought I'd try out the silent running system. Only to press the wrong key and eject my complete cargo. And coz I'm new (not picked up cargo yet)and not very quick (I panicked, which in space your not supposed to do, I know) I only managed to pick up 3 tons of it before it all disappeared.

Now I've got back to where I messed up and have started to make mucho profit, so I can fit the t25, sorry T6 with better equipment for the Tour de Milky Way.

good thread this.

Welcome to the T6 explorers fan club, the most underrated exploration vessel in game but with loyal fans who know better.

How do you find out how much intergraty u have on your T6 , when it dont show up on your Hud. What menu if at all do you have to go into to find the info ?

You cant, but be assured that you will come back with 0% integrity after a long trip, you can minimise the 30% hull reduction from the 0% ship integrity by using a Hull Reinforcement package, i use a 3D class hull reinforcement package on the T6 which upgrades the default lightweight alloy Hull from 90 to 150, which is better than a stock Cobras hull (120) at only 8t of weight, an excellent upgrade for the T6s light hull and well worth it for exploration.

Andrew just dusted down and I have no intention of looking or selling here - just glad to BE here.

I hear ya and feel for ya - I will take the time to look at the data as the credits were never a motivation when I set out - exploring was the thing compared to cash when I began (there was no cash in exploration)- just being there in a T6 was something special.. Big hugs though that you didn't make it back :( It's ok for commanders to hug right ? In t6's it is HELL YA)

Congratulations on your safe trip back.

Thanks for the condolences, and yes a hug is quite alright between Commanders :)

I was looking forward to that feeling of finally getting back in one piece after a few weeks out, instead I'm sitting here in the hanger pondering whether I should go back the last system I died at and continue on or strike out in a new direction but I'm definitely headed back out into the void again.

No worries about the data, no details required. I just thought maybe between us all here that we might be able to shed some light on that new scan type and whether it's even doing anything at the moment or if it's just a placeholder parameter for later use.

See ya' in the void.

I will sift through the data later today, apologies I went to bed, needed the sleep after the last 400LY's jumping back to home. I want to look at the data when I am a little more refreshed ;) Hopefully Andrew I will have some info later :)

Armstrong terminal = I kiss you all over !!!

I am landed and in one piece :)

Grats!

Is Armstrong terminal outpost or proper station? I've been thinking that once I get back, there's no way I'm going to dock through the slot. Definately it's going to be a safe outpost landing in a quiet frontier system before heading to UC office...

It could be, I was hoping that as people get back with their data and have a look at it and comment about their scanning style that we might be able to narrow down when a scan would be considered as a "penetrative scan", but it'll all come out eventually.

Sadly for me I died and I'm back at my last station. I was getting some scenic shots from inside an icy ring when I lost my server connection and when I reconnected and reloaded my ship was spinning out of control and blew up

Ouch! Feel for you Andrew, that sucks. Glad to hear you are heading out again :)

OMG what an amazing feeling to be back, slightly strange elated and deflated.......

Welcome back Ripster, glad you made it in one piece. BTW, did I see you in chat on Mahddogg's stream on Sunday?

re: My Untimely Death

I actually found a silver lining to my recent death, I'm annoying that way :D

As I was sitting in the hanger thinking about where I wanted to go I remembered my log book and was considering deleting the last two weeks of entries, but weaseled my way out of doing it by reasoning that the log is just a text file and the low res pictures (by 3301 standards) are not much different to transmit than the kill warrant scanner data, and even if it took a few hours to transmit a copy of my log and photos back to the nearest Remloc Facility for backup then it could be scheduled during my sleep cycle (couldn't do that with the raw scanner data as it would take longer to transmit then it would to fly back, that's my story anyway).

That got me imagining what it would be like in 3301 to regain consciousness in a Remloc Facility and not having any memory of the last two weeks and then trying to piece together what might have happened to cause your death by reading what "you" wrote in the log entries and looking at a few photos that were taken along the way. Was I careless? Was there a major ship malfunction? Pirates, way out there? Aliens?

So now I'm headed back to the last system that was in my log. I have no idea if that was the system I died in as I only put entries into my log when there's something interesting to make a note about, and I honestly don't remember now.

So dying has actually been a game enriching experience, at least in my own mind :p

Thank you orange sheets :)

It's a proper station - I have to say I went through the pre-docking checklist that I HAD WRITTEN down lol  Just to be sure I got it all right - It was my slowest ever landing but went very well. I find the letter box easier than some of the outpost landings as I get frustrated just trying to find the right pad and start zipping about the outpost faaaar too quickly

I did have a moment of complete madness one jump from home - as I dropped to SC from the jump something made me full throttle forward!! I have no idea why I did that, I have never ever done that before. The star filled my screen less than a second and BANG dropped out of SC close to the star. Took the usual damage and then had to suck up some more as I jumped away. It was a true OMG moment, that's why I parked up straight away and left the T6 safe - from me !

Waaay to go Andrew :)

For my next trip out , I'm considering putting a Refinery Module and a better class pickaxe in my „Thusnelda“ and do a little bit of rock hopping in between. As I tend to hop in econmode mostly, the reduced range won't hurt too much.
Is this a good idea?

Excellent thread chaps... I've thoroughly enjoyed the read!
Just bought a T6 to do a little rares trading and I'm enjoying the ride.... very manoeverable for such a large chunck of metal!

A few more trade runs and I'll be joining you in the void methinks!

I've done that, but currently running empty, since still hauling for distance. Gonna fill the bay up with refined products on my way back though.

I'm not flying a T6. But that's no matter, I simply don't know what my hull integrity is until I dock.

Hull integrity drops based on the time spent in supercruise and over the past few weeks on my journey to the core I have spent a lot of time in supercruise!

But, it's not an issue for us explorers - this is because even when you are at 0% hull integrity your ship is essentially fine. The difference is your hull strength is reduced to 70% or normal, meaning if you do take actual damage then it would take less to destroy your ship than if your integrity was at 100%.

I've done that myself (thanks for the idea Orange Sheets), however I'm limiting my "sampling" to system that have something unusual in them (for scientific purposes), that way I don't load the ship down too much and it fits in better with the role playing aspect of an explorer.

Little by little the discoveries start to come.

Today a first neutron star and black hole of this trip. Cute system, B-star, blackie, neutron and F-star. B by itself, neutron and F having tight 0.2D orbit (orbit lines went inside the F but neutrie was "visibly" above the surface), with black hole circling them on a five day orbit. Whole system was undiscovered, so keeping lips tight until back at the UC store (eventhough I'm suspecting that this particular system is one of the sad unclaimables).

Spot the hole:

Parked besides my first F-class supergiant (which was already discovered and claimed), HD14662. I haven't really paid much attention to F-class stars before this, but I happened to have the galaxy map switched to show the actual stars instead of filter spots. Easy to spot, since the radius is 57*sol.

On another note, I haven't been sampling lately because at first I didn't find any good stuff and then I realised what a drag it is to travel long distances with a dusty ship. I mean the rock grime from the refinery unit just gets everywhere! If I only could suck some water off a suitable world and hose down the cargo bay...

LOL Rock grime :p

Andrew - a quick heads up after "cashing" in all my data - it is unfortunately official, The T6 can't

P E N E T R A T E

No mention of penetrating in any of my reports :S

My T-6 was fitted with Class 5 shield and 2 gimballed laserbeams. Never go out without shield and sword ;-) On my way back i was interdicted by an Cobra (Dangerous skill level) and thank to my equiment i was able to blast him to dust... and cash in 13k credits .hehe. Jumprange was around 27 ly. Enough for a trip to the core. At the rim you need more than 30 ly range. Class 5 scoop fills the tank in under 20 sec if you scoop every star, what i strongly suggest ! FMU should be on board to. At least one. Better two...

The other internal parts were A rated... And take a class 4 reactor. You need the power...

@Ripster: If i go out the next time for deep space exploration we should group up ! Explorationwing ftw .hehe. Not just pew pew .laughs. Add me ingame if you wish. Name is Jim Panse :) Hope to see you soon out there...

Hi Jim

I was just rereading the thread to motivate me out into the void and saw I had missed the hidden gem.

I had no idea how to add so with the help of trusty google and my own fat fingers on the keyboard - I sent the hand of friendship from one T6'er to another :)

Today, 24 Mar 3001 at 20:37 Zulu I and my brick Thusnelda set sail and we are heading straight for the centre.
Given that my starting station Prachett's Disc lacks a little bit in the outfitting departement, I had to fiddle with my powermanagement to put in a B4 refinery module and one D1 pickaxe.
Now I use 8.92MW of my available 9.00MW, my jump range is 28.77LY unladen and 21.83LY laden.
Must have taken cesspit lane towards the centre, brown dwarfs all around.
No gasbags with ringsystems sighted yet.
Darn. New toy (never used a mining laser before) can't play.
At least my 64ton cargo is full of beer
