Type 6 - To boldly go

Well done I say! Does this the first T6 at Beagle Point make? Back in the day I couldn't reach it since I didn't have boost. I don't think Rusti made it, either.

Did you check in the 65.000LY thread?

Not the first Type 6E at all! I think I may be the fourth or fifth. The Keelback, Type 9, and Type 7 have all made it, too. Quite an endorsement for the Lakon series of haulers. I did about 5/6 basic boosts from a 25 ly jump ship. But I was running on fumes for those jumps so the actual unboosted jump range on each of those 5/6 jumps was 29, I think. With boost at 25%, that proved enough to make it.

I know Paleogamer was already there when I arrived with the T7, he may have been the first, but I'm not sure.

EDIT: Checking the arrivals thread for the Type-6

1st - Paleogamer
2nd - Alad Insane
3rd - CCninja
4th - Felix Macedonica

Oh wow, this is amazing - a T7 and a T9..... *****shakes head****

No, I didn't either. Still never used FSD boost - every time I think about finding out about what I need to do, I get distracted by something else :D

Hahaha, same here CMDR Aurora....same here. Have been distracted by CGs, now the Engineers....all the while saving up for an Exploraconda to be maxed out in terms of jump range, and then....maybe then I'll also look into boost to find out what's possible.

Just before I so ignominiously ran out of fuel in my current, now very dark, system, I hit a rich vein of your First Discoveries running along the 6000-6200 line out towards BP. You have been busy.

Just thought I'd let you know. Your work has been noted.

It's dark.

I picked up a Type 6 for the simple purpose of a space taxi and I was pleasantly surprised with its attributes. It upgrades with a good fuel tank and FSD resulting in a great jump range with just a few million credits spent. Just be sure to add a heat sink or two.

Surely someone is already out there with an engineered T-6e, right?

My DW Keelback was engineered to lvl 4 and now almost capable of jumping 30lys without much compromise of the build - that is to say it has high rated thrusters and shields alongside with all the necessary stuff. It is now parked in the bubble as I'm flying a Fer-d'Explorance, but it'll return... I was just hoping, that ship launched fighters could have some use for an explorer...

Oh, I had forgotten all about this thread. I loved it when it began.

It is largely the reason I am where I am now...in the middle of nowhere.

I have just spent a long time re-reading its contents. Happy days.

Go anywhere, do anything. My 'Jeep' doing scans on ELW 3.5 kLy out.

FSD is tuned to G5 giving it nice 40+ Ly jump range, bit depending what I drag with me there. This excursion was with FS and extra fuel tank and SRV. Also done famous explorer jobs with cabin and just looked around for neat sights near the bubble.

Wow. A Type-6 with a jump range of 40LY? My T-6E jumps slightly over 29LY on fumes. I've been out since January and haven't really got to grips with the Engineers...I really mean "I have completely ignored them!". I'm on the way back to the Bubble now (still 57,523LY from my "Home" Station) but have suddenly become very keen to have a play around with this.

Meanwhile, here is a gratuitous selfie of the Mallow checking out a Water World earlier today.

How many T-6Es have gone to Beagle Point and beyond? No-one knows, but luckily one more (hopefully) manages to come back! Congrats Cmdr Macedonia for the fantastic trip, and Cmdr Chiggy for helping tee-sixer out!

If I remember correctly, I think there were 6 T-6Es to make the official DWE arrival roster? Not bad out for a arrival fleet of over 500!

Great pics - and love the paint job. When I get back I will see if I can upgrade the old rust bucket.

I know the feeling . . . Lovely shot of the 'Mallow', by the way. I still have fond memories of us both parked up down near the southern pole at Beagle Point 2.

I still have fond memories of us both parked up down near the southern pole at Beagle Point 2.

Those days journeying amidst the gloomy valleys of BP2 were good times, indeed.

Oh, but we were different men back in those heady days of Summer 3302...possessed of fewer wise thoughts, perhaps?

Look at what has happened to us since then? Months in the Abyss with the terror of loss and abandonment, for me; you become trapped in a region of empty Space and, as a very few have done, face down the awful realisation that the SD switch is now our only salvation. A brief burst of angry light delivering us eternal peace. Yet, you were saved. What a truly glorious adventure that was. Watched by millions on Live TV. Look at you now. A hero. A man become his own tourist location.

I remain glad to have left BP2 though...and yet I read you are heading back there! I am travelling slowly down to the Ellaid region and at last on to my Home. Systems are all nominal. The Mallow's hull remains strong and our power plant rattles but delivers energy when required.

Safe travels, Cmdr Felix Macedonica. I look forward to the day when our paths, once again, will cross.

Flying happy

A postcard from void!

Visited that system over year and a half ago (and got the tag!), dug it up from notes and wanted to pay a visit because of the jets of a 0.2D orbit neutron :)

So while reaching that I'm about to finish up some POIs of that early exploration. NGC 7822 visit has been waiting, and gotta finish up the 2MASS sector over halfway from Sol to Heart and Soul. From there, beyond perhaps?

Kirsty's still flying good. Took her to Ms. Martuuk before setting out and got nice boost to FSD range and bit weight off from thrusters by clean tuning them. She now jumps whooping 40-41 light years per pop. Kirsty got some legs, and they're insured too!

Wow

Great to see there are still some old T6 er's still out there :) and that this thread is still alive [heart]

Just loading up and updating my elite files so thought I would browse the forums for inspiration.

*nod* to Jon and Orange sheets = loving your work :D

Great to see you back Ripster!

Currently on a trip to nearby sights that I've missed. On the first trips I took with the T-6 right about two years ago (!) I tried to get to Y Canum Vanticorum, but it seemed impossible with the ~29-30 jump range. Now that I engineered Kirsty (yes, still the exact same T-6) to jump ~40ly per jump, I finally decided to pay a visit. Was worth it :) Postcards have been sent but appanrently postal service will get them here later...

Hail Cmdr, well met. Good to hear from the Cmdr who began all of this Type-6 Explorer madness!

I'm still flying only my second T-6E...the first got four-shot killed by an NPC during the run up to DWE. I was devastated. The current Mrs Lakon has a 27.47LY range but no mods. I'm currently 54k LY out with no plans (or route, to be honest) to return any time soon.

Fly safe, fellow T-6ers
Jon

EDIT: Gratuitous shot of the Mallow over-flying an Ice World.
