Still trying to figure a good suggestion for the T-6E rally. I'm thinking west. Not much traditional traffic to that rim I'd gather, or has Colonia changed that trait?
Leaving Colonia to head in the direction of the Ellaid sector. Been on my To Do list for about two years...so now is the time to go.
The Mallow has been fixed up and she is looking all shiny and new, once again. This Cmdr made it to Exploration Elite after selling all of my DWE and M7E data...so I'm feeling all shiny, too!
I have been heading out for a grand nebula tour to chart and visit all the deep space installations I can find out there. So far the direction has been roughly southwest with major detours and I have reached as far as the Heart and Soul Nebulas.
But as things go I got distracted... At Base Camp and the Farsight Expedition Base I heard rumors about something lost in the Formidine Rift. Only after some alcohol supported investigations in a few pubs I got coordinates and a system name, but not much more. People there don't like to talk about the Rift. 'Better don't go there...nothing good comes from that system...'
---Do not open if you like finding out stuff yourself!---
Looking into old news articles I found a name: Zurara...
Now I am on my way, still a bit more than 1 kylie out from my presumed destination and even space stands against me. The Formidine Rift is not a place one should travel to without preparation. More often than not my ship computer fails to calculate any meaningful route because of the vast distance between star systems. Luckily I bunkered FSD-boost materials or otherwise my journey would have ended a kylie ago.
So this is how exploration really feels...Passing voids that regular space travel cannot bridge...Always the nagging thought that you might end up in a dead end or a deathtrap because of dwindling supplies...Out here the feeling of isolation becomes even more profound as the normally abundant sight of star systems is kept from your eyes...only a handful of dots out there...the sight of the galaxy behind you is the only assuring thing. Do not travel the fringes lightly!
I have to continue onwards now. Hope sets in as patches of stars become a bit thicker again and the Boomer's computer is finally able to plot short routes at regular distances. Maybe I am past the worst...
Has something terrible happened in the Boesky sector?
About 19,000LY out...and I have suddenly started coming across crashed ships, burning SRVs and wrecked navigation beacons. The latest find is still on fire! There has been some nice salvage...platinum, silver, narcotics...but I have no cargo slots on the Mallow
Thargoids? Must be.
Anyway, in other news, I am heading as far down the Galactic as I can. I just fancied a trip to the Basement.

New one for me...I found a moon that orbits a ringed GG. Nothing special so far, I agree, but here the moon is so close to the ring that the ring itself is actually within the planetary limit for the moon (the blue circle) and I can see the ring "elements" orbiting above me from the moon's surface.
View from the surface. Look closely within the light area of the Galactic disc...
Well I finally arrived in the Colonia region under escort from iridium Wing and cashed in all the exploration data amassed from the DWE 3302 trip. I had taken hundreds of images and dozens of video recordings of the 2 year trip but in the end was too exhausted to compile them all together. So here's a short selection of images instead showing-off this stubborn and bruised Lakon Type 6. It's my small way of saying thank you to it and what it's been through:
Enjoy? But it's so busy and full of ships and strange unexplored signals that I am getting nervous just looking out of Jacques' bar. My fingers are itching to escape out into the black!
