Type 9 Heavy that doesn't run from pirates possible?


Begin here, bolt on turrets. I'd use Multicannons. At least one corrosive and maybe an incendiary or two.

Use standard shield if you don't have prismatic. If your intended model is submit to interdiction and fight back you don't need long term shield endurance, you need enough to beat that one guy.

Want a 'merchant' ship to be able to take on pirates? Without massive amounts of engineering?

That requires FDev to revisit defensive mechanics for low-turn-rate ships. Turrets buffed. Gunner role (multicrew in general) expanded and stabilized. Mines given wider radii or auto-tracking, damage scaled back and traded for heavier debuffs on velocity or other effects to hinder the attacker. There are many ideas on suggestions over the years.

None of them have been implemented.
S'ok. None of the feedback for EDO was implemented, either.

'Balance' and 'Fun' are two words not found at FDev.
