Greetings Admirals o7 add a more powerful engine for the Type 9, such a big ship and such a sad engine, it should initially have a jump of 40 light years.

The Cutter only carries more if you fly shieldless. XDTo be fair to your proposal, the T-9's jump range is pretty poor when fully loaded, possibly because it was massively buffed a few years ago allowing it to carry a lot more cargo than it was originally designed for. The Cutter makes an excellent trader & maxed out carries more than a T-9 too. I use my T-9 for variety when I get bored with hauling in a Cutter if I have to do a lot of runs.
But the use case you are thinking of is already covered in the game by a fleet carrier, which can carry thousands of tonnes of cargo 500ly per jump & when you load/unload it, use a T-9 (or Cutter) to travel a few light seconds to & fro at each end. With a Carrier I don't need either to have a big jump range & both already have massive fuel tanks.
Yes my hauling cutter carries 792t, shieldless with autodock to relieve the monotony. It does have a reactive armour hull though. Doesn't need shields (or weapons) to fill or empty a carrier. The Cutter only carries more if you fly shieldless. XD
(T9=758T // Cutter=730T if you fit the smallest shield possible)

It's probably one of the best explorers out there in a sense that it can hold everything, to include a Size 7 universal limpet controller and it has the best view.I love the type 9 it's the only ship which is true to its Type . It's a big trader it doesn't try to be an explorer or fighter it's a cargo hold with engines not good engines but they get you going eventually.....
