Haha, shame I just thought that would be a crazy way to find whoever's littering around merope.
I sold one to outpost at Warkushanui like 3-4 days ago.
Ok was still looking for a pattern to the signal holo. Found another SSS and this one had a medical convoy in it. The signal holo was the same, no verticle movement and fast flashing from left to right. This is the second time I have run into a medical convoy in an anarchy system and the convoy has no affiliation with any faction.
I decided I would go ahead and try to collect one for the heck of it. I know we already have one, but since it was lawless space and I wanted to have some fun I went for it. Now notice I am in my stealth DBS which I run without shields as I am constantly using silent running. I waited for the python to start the jump procedure before starting the attack as I have found that if you do that the escorts will leave you alone as they are constantly trying to jump out and therefore they cannot deploy their weapons.
It was a tough fight, burned through 5 chaff and 6 heat sinks but I managed to pull it off.
Then while I was scooping up the cargo I could (I only have 8 cargo space) one of the Vultures that were still buzzing around ran into me. I barely managed to survive that but I was able to safely make it to an outpost for repairs.
So if anyone wants a "scientific research" for any reason let me know. Ill be on for a few more hours and would be willing to drop it off. I can't really think of anything to do with it other than sell it at a black market.

Oh the short attention span of youth.
There was a time not too long ago, where a scientist would invest 100 hours or more just to get a glimpse of a ua. Now when we have galnet telling us of 2 systems of interest, it seems that a few waits for a signal source is enough to convince everyone that there is nothing to see, wait for fd to offer it up on a plate.

Ill head over to 49 Arietis as I am currently just looking for signal sources to try and confirm what Han_zen mentioned. Might as well kill 2 birds with one stone, hopefully I'll come across a UA.
OK, so thanks to RedWizzard's plotting (not that kind of plotting!) we know the UA/AEOs form a rough sphere around Merope with a radius of about 150 Ly.
Also, thanks to Cmd Delmonte's field work, we know there's definitely a sphere of some definition involved (but not a Dyson's sphere!). It might just be that yes, it's a sphere of UA/AEOs around Merope, or that their spherical arrangement itself is for a specific purpose.

Things that stuck out to me were:
- It's a distinct region of space
- Formed by supernovae in the Pleiades!
- It's about 300 Ly across (ie, a radius of 150 Ly!)
However, the complete description seems to move further away from any similarities from the UA/AEO sphere area.
But still, maybe the UA/AEOs really are skirting the edges of a demarcated territory, or a molecular cloud of suitable chemical make-up for the Mysterious Entities behind them.

The reports are cofusing me. Are all SS dispaying the eratic left to right pattern?
Is this new in 1.4?
Is this hapening in UA systems or everywere?

Fast enough that the bars look like they are flashing. The thing is I could swear I have seen the verticle bars changing in size. I have not found a UA yet. Perhaps if someone is near one of the UA hotspots you could take a look and report your findings. I'm gonna stay here and hope I get lucky.

I think they have changed in 1.4. If you look at older videos on YouTube, you can clearly see the lines moving vertically.
@RedWizzard - While there's a chance I've blundered about in systems already covered and, also, while it may've already been taken as a given that the 'Merope Shell' is, indeed, at 135-150LY from Merope...
All Floaters found within currently accepted 'shell' distances from Merope. Seems strongly indicated that shell has not currently changed diameter or thickness, though this only indicated by a statistically point-and-larf number of systems visited by myself today.
Despite some patience and system re-entry - at 149.36LY from Merope, Taurus Dark Region NX-U B2-1 seems not to be playing host to a snotter. (Similarly less than 150LY, but by a similar smidgen, like previous check in Taurus Dark Region NX-U B2-0, already reported.) NX-U B2-1 did have vanilla signal sources.

Well I checked a total of 23 SS's. All of them had exactly the same signal holo. So if it ever was an indication of anything it doesn't seem to be anymore. 9 of them were SSS's. 1 of the SSS's ended up being a medical convoy. Sadly there was no UA. I'm pretty tired at this point so I think I'll head over to Gaiman Dock and call it a night.

I am currently in 49 Arietis and I have an UA in my cargo. Any ideas on what I should do?
Take it back. As far into space as you can. Leave it and fly away. Don't watch, listen, scan, anything. Leave it alone, walk away, and stay away.
It is just me in deep space with a UA and my ship got scanned with NO one is around!?
