UA Mystery thread 4 - The Canonn

Those additional sounds are well known, they are there since the beginning.
I've always thought they are just markers. And very likely they are.

BTW the T reminds me of some ships ;)
Let's assume three T, three T-ships. Perhaps a nice test with all the T-ships close to a UA could be a thing. No snakes this time. :D
But I cannot do it all by myself and my two accounts.

... Very early on I used to get these mixed up with what those who had identified what we now know as the Morse, and I thought they were just markers too.

However, what if they're not, and actually represent another 'layer' of Morse - 'TTT' would make sense, given its established use.

These aren't the only high-pitched warbles to appear outside the usual honk sequence, there might be more to this.

I like it! :D

There are other small sounds as well, but they really seems accessory sounds to me. BTW no harm in going deeper with them.
I did the same with the BG noise, if you all remember, and the morse that I was hearing in it, so... (I'm still hearing it, btw... ;))

Careful now... you may stumble upon the truth...

Elite was not coded in C, it was coded in Morse...---...

Found one Taurus Dark Region MH-V B2-2, pointing to Merope

Wasted much of the morning listening to and learning about whale sounds... Is there a possibility that some of the UA's output is an actual whale sound, not just whale-like? Remember that both Voyager probes carried recordings of whales into deep space...

Many whales vocalise below the normal range of human hearing (< 20hz) Is it worth looking for frequencies in the UA output that we can't normally hear?

Sorry if this has been discussed before...

I have spent some time searching for those sound (first or second thread). What I found was that there are bits of the UA sound that are very similar to whale sounds.

- The howl is similar to the blue whale call.
- The purrs are very similar to humpback whale noise.
- There are also bits that are similar to 'laughing dolphin' noises.

I don't know if FD have used whale recordings to generate the 'UA sound package'.

Also the UA sound has changed a bit since 1.2. It has become clearer and more distinct. Perhaps less natural. I haven't checked lately, so I don't know how similar they are now.

Hello again!

Some info - last night, observing a Medical convoy in SSS, i scanned Python with Cargo Scanner. Saw a next thing: 2 x Progenitor Cells, 2 x Performance Enhancers, 1 x Occupied Cryopod and 1 x Scientific Research.

Got idea, bought some Progenitor Cells and Performance Enhancers, took UA at Pleiades and went to Merope. Dropped near star, jettisoned all cargo and looked. Maybe i'm wrong, but UA's sounds background had some strange noise.

I will record this later. Maybe i also need to find Occupied Cryopod, to something happen.

Okay, finally managed to catch up... Damn.
First of all, great job on the T-class ship thing!

Now that I am finally back from my trip to the core I hope that I'll be able to contribute more directly. I already went out to have a look at my very first UA (pretty much the first thing I did after cashing in the exploration data). HYADES SECTOR something-something, can check and post the system later, but it was in the expected range from Merope. I watched it for a while, then decided to try cargo scooping for the first time ever, even succeeded, and then released it again to watch it expire.
On the way back home I paid a visit to Varati and donated a couple of credits to The Canonn for station repairs.

Now I've been seeing again and again that people were asking whether or not there still are UA convoys in 1.4. As I haven't seen an answer beyond "Well, since the floaters appeared nobody cared about the convoys anymore." I am considering to head over to Timocani tonight, fly around for a while and check some SSS for UA convoys.
Other than that I am currently extremely tempted to grab a UA and drop it into the CZ at the current CG, simply to confuse people.

Good luck. Remember that people went hundreds of hours without spotting one in 1.3. I gave it a day hunting myself in 1.4, but 7 hours proves nothing.

Oh, so you've gone to look already? Damn, and I don't have even anywhere near a day to fly around tonight. Might still do it, lacking other ideas to get actively involved in this whole mystery.
I don't even know what the purpose of finding another UA convoy would be, beyond confirming they still exist. I don't see any possible benefit in snatching a UA from them over grabbing a floater.

Drop one UA at each Planet around Merope star, perhaps they will open, shooting an energy beam, opening the door to Raxxla :)

Its one of the dirty jobs that nobody likes to do. Put in a stint, if we get 10 people to put in 10 hours, then we can walk away.

Nowadays they (the federation) just hang around the blackmarkets and buy the speciments Commanders sell to try to destabilize rivaling factions. But seriously, confirmation that they are still collecting could be a clue to their motives. (gathering for research, cleanup, bioweapons or perhaps using them to destabilize rivaling factions spacestations?)

That'd be great if you could do it! Good luck CMDR.

Should of given this earlier, but anyone is free to add me in game.

Cmndr Sancho Deltoro, or something like that.

I can help out when needed.

And certainly isn't the most glorious of tasks, but somebody's gotta do it if we want a chance at finding out whether or not these things still are out there.

Thanks.

A few quick questions to those of you who have dealt with the convoys:
They're not aggressive and will ignore me if I do not attack, right?
Do they mind being cargo-scanned?
Do I remember correctly that they are made up of a T-9 and several Anacondas?
Any advice?

I am considering going in a Cobra with a cargo scanner. But if the convoys are either aggressive by default or turn aggressive when scanning the cargo I might prefer the Vulture.
Smash the T-9's shields and cargo hatch, confirm the cargo and then die laughing, because let's be honest, my Vulture can do a lot, but running is not one of those things. ;-)

Same goes for me. Feel free to add me, Cmdr unrealization.

Edit: Setting out. Vulture with cargo scanner. 9 jumps to Timocani, in Mobius, if anybody wants to say hello.

Ran across this and found it interesting. Anyone found any UA convoys that far out?

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=196602

Looks like they're only finding salvageable wrecks, no convoys. Also, I don't think there have been UA convoys since... 1.3? Can anyone confirm?

I've seen salvageable wrecks 5000+ Ly from Sol.

Yeah Salvageable Wrecks are all that have been reported so far (up to just over 9000 LY from Sol). We've only been gathering reports for about a week or so though.

The idea initially was to see if there were any signal hotspots (of any type) outside of the Merope shell, and to try and confirm/disprove rumors/reports of deep space SSS, but nothing significant has come from it yet.

Will post back here if anything comes up :)

cargo scan does not cause convoy to go aggressive
Convoys generally consist of a fed drop ship with its escort wing and 1-2 T9s with Conda escort.
Fed drop ship wing flies off ahead of t9 wing and jumps out. wait for this moment to attack T9!
I've been dropping into SSS around Varati since 1.4 in the hope of finding a Canonn UA convoy ;)

Are you guys collecting wreckage sites outside the bubble? I found my first one 3500 ly from Sol. Gotta check if I have a screenshot with the system name.

Thanks for the info.

I've been flying for an hour and checked a couple of SSS, and even 2 or 3 USS. The results thus far are that Hafnium, Gold and Explosives appear rather popular, and I earned myself roughly 300 kCr in bounties. Having a smoke, then I'm back in the Vulture.
I miss my KWS...

I think the record is 20-30 hours of SSS hunting (branch?). I looked for a lot longer then that, I stayed in Timocani for a good month saw 2 of my own and 1 when in a wing during biscuit barrel event :D
