Trailerfollowers

Since we know the trailer is made from several different locations, I would *not* put too much effort into this.
However, there may be Commanders who wishes to visit the locations, here's some helpful things for you.

Horizons Launch Livestream: On the Horizon Episode 7 - Permission to Land
- During the Chris Gregory (Art director) interview
The clips are from their LAN session where they recorded material.

Watch from 03:8:22 : https://youtu.be/G_qwOcL1PUU?t=3h8m22s

Here's the places I could make out from various location while they where flying.
It's in sequence, however some locations are hard to see.
I've noted down it in this order, except when all you could see is a settlement. System/Settlement names are obvious.

One of the POIs appears to be a bit crashy, but it's not the barnacle - not that we've seen from the crash reports so far at any rate.

Michael

Okay.. I'm going to nitpick this one a bit. THE barnacle? So are we literally looking for the barnacle in a haystack? Because if so, then we definitely are missing something. Or we are looking too hard and the clues have already been given to us.

Other than UAs pointing to Merope, what other reasons are in this particular nebula? Obsidian Orbital.. And Palin's future base. That's two planets that I would guess would be a closer look. They are also the only things in game that would have given us a hint other than the UAs. Thoughts?

I think he probably meant there is a type of POI that is crashy, but it's not THE barnacle TYPE.

Not to speak for Michael here, but I believe he's saying it wasn't the Barnacle POI "type" that was crashing. It was another type of POI. He wasn't saying there was only one Barnacle POI.

*edit* ninja'd by Yoda, I was.

Has there been any confirmation that the Barnacles will show up as a standard POI (blue circle on the radar)? I know that some are random POIs but is it possible that they are of the type that don't show up on radar (permanent)? Knowing this would help a lot.

How long did it take this lot to find the first UA, let alone work out what it even was or what to do with it? ;)

To be fair, I'm pretty sure there are a lot more CMDRs in the game now, and certainly more engaged in this type of investigation. How many were actively involved in that back then? How many are actively involved it it now? Big difference, IMO.

No, I think you are reading into taht way too far. He clearly means the barnacle POI's are not the ones causing crashes - not that there's only ONE barnacle.

Completely agree with you. But at the same time are we sure? As everyone says.. he's very careful with his wording. And I know everyone would hate it to be just one. But I feel like we were supposed to find it by now and then it would kickstart more of them somehow. It seems like they keep hinting that its location should have already been very obvious to us all.

I just arrived in Maia last night. While I do have a full sensor suite and an SRV, I'm more fitted for combat. If any explorers need an armed escort due to the gankers hanging out in the area feel free to add me in game and we can wing up. Maybe there's other combat pilots out there who want to start a unified Maia defense force?

In game name is the same as on here.

Looking at the launch trailer, i am convinced you would see these better from low altitude in a ship, faster to cover the search area, there are quite a lot of stone like trees with green lights\jewels in them, from the video these look to cover a largish area compared to the srv size, also a tall pyramid structure. This ties in with MB's comment that if in the right location you would know.
I think they would be easily spotted from a ship low enough, it is just that no one has passed over one yet, or even been to the correct planets. Surely one must turn up soon enough.

Oh yes I don't disagree, it's just the ones who are coming in now (like with the last treasure hunt) seem to expect these things to be able to be found/solved in a very short space of time.

First page. And yes, it could be either. Persistent, non-persistent. Could be in a blue zone, and without a blue zone.
You need to use both your eyes and your radar. Or SRV.

Has someone checked the planet that Obsidian Port orbits around? Maybe that the right place is the easier to reach one.

You are guaranteed to find them if you are in the right location.

Michael

This keeps coming back to me when I'm searching for a nearly-impossible to see POI.

It got me thinking: The large barnacles, when we happen upon them, are probably going to be very obvious. I'm guessing shrouded in a shimmering haze, something like the UAs. Could even be audible (on an airless planet...). They might even be dangerous to approach, with our ships/SRVs taking toxic damage.

So I think from now on if I have a hard time spotting the POI that came up on my radar, I'm just going to skip it.

I spent 10+ hours there before MB had even showed up to tell us they were in the Pleiades, and then another 4-6 after he told us. Doesn't mean it's been searched by any means though, has a bigass crater in it that is misty and impossible to navigate
