I was in the middle of building a sexy Keelback / Type-6 hybrid Lego model when....things got a bit sidetracked and I went old skool Elite 1984....
Not finished (about 80%) but I'm liking its direction- retro angular goodness! Some concessions shape wise (for example the curved ED Sidewinder 'sides' to condense the diamond shape that otherwise would be far too wide) though.
Plenty of space for the cockpit (although the original shape makes forward visibility almost nil) and the model also has fully retracting landing gear. My only annoyance is the canopy will have to be 'imaginary' given there is no offical part I can use for it....although I could go a bit OOLITE and have a more conventional canopy:
