UI cleanup. It's time.

Yep, I can agree with nearly all of this. A few of the points are less irksome than others; I use voiceattack for things like docking, but totally agree with the SRV points, scrolling in commodoties (why is this not default? It's SO hard to use) and issues such as focus (in 2D - VR doesnee do this as you have to LOOK at the contacts area... a nice touch until you try typing, it disappears and you're controlling the ship :p )

Good stuff; hope someone at FDev sees it.

Disagree on paint. Paint is purely cosmetic, and was removed from the autorepair on request, I believe? (Before my time, though.)

Did you see my further suggestion about updating the paint to keep cosmetic damage? I could see CMDR's teaming up to give each other "laser tattoos" on their hull; it'd be hilarious to see what people draw on each other's ships and it would still give us a way to repair EVERYTHING without getting rid of the battle damage we want to keep.

But for the training missions NO, i use this fairly often to see if my key bindings work like i want them.when i changed them or he game gets updated.

That's fine; if you use them "fairly often" that's why the option's there; but for 99.99999999% of players, we don't use training mode EVERY TIME WE LAUNCH THE GAME. We want to START THE GAME. START should be the first option where the cursor defaults, with training right below it, not the other way around. I guarantee that no matter how often one uses the training missions, every single player in the game uses the "start" option more often than the "training" option, thus "start" should be the cursor's default position.

I hope FD looks this over very carefully. This is a well written and highly amusing piece of work, and these are the kinds of QOL improvements I was hoping to see this season.

Hello, Daynen. :)

[Lots of sentences that END WITH SHOUTING.]

While we can all sympathise with your obvious exasperation - I doubt there's a single one of us who hasn't sworn at some menu or other at some point - you may wish to consider whether or not shouting at FD and giving them their marching orders every few sentences is really the best way to get your point across. :p

As it goes, I can have few complaints about the UI (I remember what it was like before they reworked it) but I can definitely see the logic of a fresh UI pass, going through the game and making sure more of the interface behaviour is sensible and reasonably consistent from one menu to another.

Unless you plan to start making ships with a different COVAS as standard fitting [...]

What a very good idea! There have been calls for UI to vary by ship and / or manufacturer since the game was launched. While so much graphics work might be an issue, there's no obvious reason why we can't have a separate default voice for each manufacturer. This seems like something that could help scratch a very ancient itch.

I hate to be "that guy" but it sounds like Sandro needs a new job then.

Mr Sammarco's the lead designer. Did you really mean to say that to the person with the most power to say 'yes' or 'no' to your suggestions? Ever thought of going into advertising? :D

Being in charge doesn't mean he knows best. He might be the guy making the calls but that doesn't make him right. I'm just not afraid to call the situation out for what it is. What's he gonna do? Ban my ED account? I'll just shrug, shake my head in disappointment and move on to bigger and better things. He'll still have a game with horribly glaring flaws that needs reworked and will continue to be mediocre game with great, but buried, potential until they're properly addressed. Maybe people don't like being ordered around but if you haven't noticed, not much else is doing the trick. Most of these UI issues have been a thing since long before I started and that was before Horizons. He'll have a hard time convincing me of any good excuse to leave so many issues unaddressed for this long.

And before you even say "money" there's only so much cash so many people can dump in so fast. The only greater influx of money is going to come from a huge influx of new players and the game's not getting that when people hear that problems don't get fixed and obvious issues don't get addressed for years. To reiterate, I don't really like having to be that guy but sooner or later someone has to be. At least I try to keep my lists articulate, concise and comprehensive, which is more than I can say for a LOT of complaints on these forums...
