Yea I’d say if it has animals in an environment where people take care of them and people can watch them as guests… it’s a zoo for all intents and purposes. This goes for wild parks, safari parks, classic zoos, aquariums, and marine parks (like SeaWorld with big marine megafauna)

Not really, those are more like natural reserves.

I have been to a handful of wildparks and they are for sure more zoos than they are reserves. Often more old fashioned than modern zoos but placed in very nature rich areas with lots of space. With a focus on European and/or Northern hemisphere species + many domestics.

That's because they aren't common in zoos, they are common in wildparks. People really should check the listings in zootierliste before making these claims.

At least in my country they are pretty common in captivity I really want it and I saw them in different mixed habitats like

Mouflon × Red Deer × Water Buffalo × Gaur × Bactrian Camel × Waterfowl

And it's a great great combo TBH

No they are Zoos, but mostly with european Species

German and Austrian wildparks do not serve the purpose of conservation. In my opinion they are not even zoos in any way.

How can what counts as a zoo and what doesnt be an opinion?

A zoo is a facilitys that keeps animals in enclosures for public exhibition.

Thats quite literally the definition of the word, so any facility which main purpose is to keep animals to present them to the public, is a zoo.
Thats why a petting zoo is a zoo and not a farm, because the animals there arnt kept to be farmed but to be an attraction to the public.

So saying that a wild park isnt a zoo is like saying that a chihuahua isnt a dog.

Well that is one weird and very random mix for sure.

I guess just that the most common pack lineups lack an ungulate when we’re discussing

oh

well yeah because in the case of latinamerica there are other types of animals that are much more interesting to get, specially birds, monkeys, rodents and arboreal mammals.

most ungulates we could get from latinamerica are pretty much straight up clones: another tapir, another wild camelid, another deer. Not that they are not important or interesting but other animals take the spotlight because are more unique and pressing to diversify the southamerican roster.

I want the brazilian tapir and the vicuña/guanaco but we already have a latinamerican tapir and two camelids.
i want a pudu and marsh deer, but with a full Americas pack the elk and musk ox take the spot.

that said people do list the pudu, guanaco and vicuña quite often in their line ups.
