I think we need more Asian antelopes, and maybe one tropical deer.28 ungulates isn’t so bad - there are only 2 marsupials… not that I disagree, more ungulates would be good.

Maybe add a list to what we already have in each category for better comprehension?I updated the OP to remove the animals added in the Europe pack and I added some animals to the deer section and bovine section like the pudu, asian water buffalo and yak.
Ok I’ll work in it now.Maybe add a list to what we already have in each category for better comprehension?
I saw some yesterday too at animal kingdom so cool with their horns I wouldn’t hate them. For cattle, I enjoy Ankole cattle, although they are domestic, I believe. Saw some yesterday at the zoo, and they were amazing
I'm so jealous right now...I saw some yesterday too at animal kingdom so cool with their horns I wouldn’t hate them.

And bar headed geese! That exhibit is probably the best thing about Animal Kingdom, which probably explains my own preferences.I agree that Asia needs more hoof stock badly it’s so underrepresented there. Yesterday I visited animal kingdom and they had a asian grassland/ good stock yard with Asian water buffalo, blackbuck, and elds deer and it made me want asian grasslands all the more! I really hope we get more hoofstock
Absolutely, appeal is not limited to just experience and cultural familiarity, but that is why we have Moose, Reindeer, and Fallow Deer. My primary interest in animals and nature is biodiversity, and to me the interest in deer is the morphology and ecological diversity, and this is most observed in South to Southeast Asia. Deer are diverse and fulfill many ecological niches there, just like antelope do in Africa. Western audiences don't care though because they are seeing them through the lens of western species. They think, "oh, it's just another deer," and they aren't given a chance to be interesting. We can discuss what makes animals appealing all day, but I think you would agree that there is certainly Western bias involved.I agree that we should have more animals from more areas fullstop. But I disagree with your framing of the question. Just because someone is in the “west” doesn’t make them “western-centric” and the appeal of any species isn’t limited only to those with first hand experience or cultural familiarity with it.
Fallow deer are technically from Asia too. They originated in Turkey, and then European civilizations spread them everywhere. They're basically pigeons.Just saying that reindeer and moose live in Asia too...
I think that’s a sweeping generalisation. I think there are many reasons why people are or aren’t interested in a species - and I wouldn’t assume they aren’t interested - and I wouldn’t accept there is a western bias, rather people can be dismissive of what doesn’t appear to be special, wherever they are. And here zoos bear a responsibility to make things appear special, something they don’t always do.Western audiences don't care though because they are seeing them through the lens of western species. How could I forget the geese! They were all huddled up next to the bridge next to the second tiger viewing sleeping curled up in little balls so cute! Interesting fact I just learned: they are one of the highest flying bird species to get over the Himalayas! That’s insane! And bar headed geese! Agree with that, especally when we take a look at all the dismussive statements about european animals since the game came out.I think that’s a sweeping generalisation. America is clearly superior! We swear to our Eagles everyday and are blessed with superior wildlife! (Just sarcasm)Agree with that, especally when we take a look at all the dismussive statements about european animals since the game came out.
Theres no western bias, if anything a murrica bias, but thats another can of worms
I feel the same on cetaceans I really want them. Especially a beluga but the community is so split on it my hopes for that are shot at this pointLong time stalker and another ungulate fan (although doggos are my favourite and I still want them all).
My most wanted in PZ are:
Pere David's deer
Red deer
Chital or sambar
Scimitar horned oryx
Fringe eared oryx (one can dream)
Nilgai
Chiru (apparently they aren't kept in captivity but idc)
Chamois
At least one takin
Siberian musk deer
At least one duiker
At least one dik dik
Musk ox
Markhor
Impala
Blackbuck
Kiang
Przewalski's wild horse
Grevy's or mountain zebra
Guanaco or vicuna (was quite miffed we got a domesticated llama instead of these tbh, much as I love them)
(and some cetaceans but I know we're never gonna get them)
I've read the arguments, many times. At the end of the day it's a game, and elephants and polar bears are equally controversial. Hell, zoos in general are controversial. Don't see why cetaceans are a special case tbh. But, I'd still rather get any of the ungulates on this thread before them, so it's not a massive issue for me; feel bad for the Marine Mania fans though, I don't think they're ever gonna get a modern version.I feel the same on cetaceans I really want them. Coming from the biggest one... yea I don’t know if we willI've read the arguments, many times. At the end of the day it's a game, and elephants and polar bears are equally controversial. Feels wrong to "like" that post, so I'm sorry. It's not a massive issue in the grand scheme of life, but I certainly know how disappointing game let downs are.Coming from the biggest one... yea I don’t know if we will
You’re good it comes off as more of an acknowledgement of my dissatisfaction and it’s just a game at the end of the dayFeels wrong to "like" that post, so I'm sorry. It's not a massive issue in the grand scheme of life, but I certainly know how disappointing game let downs are.
