uninstalling Elite for good !

I can't believe that happened, went to a 3g world with my t-9, did not notice at first that tiny piece of information.

After the glide, as i was preparing my smooth landing as I noticed that my thrusters were not strong enough to allow me a safe approach... but i was already too close from surface.

I bounced the first time at a ridiculous speed, my shields dropped like an ice cube on a barbecue.

Then, came the rebound, i was left with 20% hull with the first bounce, needless to say that at this time, i knew i was doomed !

The t-9 made a big boom :D

Funny how, even after more than a thousand hours in game, you can still make silly mistake

I sat 10 min thinking of what i did... already re-installing Elite ! [haha]

Hah Hah! [haha]

Sorry! Don't mean to laugh at your misfortune, but I am just picturing what your epic crash on a 3G planet must have looked like to an outside observer! Probably pretty hilarious! :)

I have heard about hundreds of "Rage Quit" episodes... But I can't say I have ever heard of a "Rage Uninstall" before! :D

Glad you thought better of it once you cooled down a bit and came to your senses.

But on a serious note, specifically to the point and obviously a contributing factor to your crash...

I've always said since the first week of Horizons, that the ship needs to provide you with a "High Gravity Warning Message" upon entry into Glide Mode if such a state exists!

Waiting until you have already exited glide, either landed or blown up and dropped onto the surface in your SRV is NOT THE PLACE to be announcing HIGH GRAVITY WARNING for the first time!

Talk about classic case of "The DUH Heard Around the World"! [rolleyes] [wacky]

Once you're close enough for the detailed scan, the system map will tell you the gravity of the body before you even get close enough to drop out of super cruise. I would never blindly try to land without knowing for sure important info like this.

Don't worry, you can't laugh, i deserve it :D
I actually never (not even a nano second) though about uninstalling the game, the title is purposely sarcastic because of all these threads of rage quit, whereas, most of the time, the player is faulty.

Agreed for "High Gravity Warning Message" upon entry into Glide Mode

Considering all the other "In Your Face" pop ups we have in the cockpit for things far less important, there is still no replacement for an equally eye catching High Gravity Warning as you are entering an approach and landing.

Your setup is most definitely the exception and not the rule here.

Most pilots don't run with a DSS as standard equipment for a variety of reasons, so that alone is enough justification for such a feature. Besides that, who wants to have to pull up the system map in the middle of an approach anyway?

Even if we forget about the whole system map thing... I think you will find that very few pilots consider a DSS mandatory, so your proposed solution doesn't really solve the problem for most players anyway.

Not anywhere close to how an actual warning message would.

Did this more than a year ago with a Python fully loaded with palladium on a 2.8 G world--a fact I noted as I noticed I was not slowing down in the slightest after leaving the glide phase. Was disappointed to not have left a crater. :D

I admit that I uninstalled ED. I was just annoyed that I needed more C: disk space.

Reinstalled promptly on D:

True story.

You savage !
Such a outrage

The crater was in your balance credits :D

After playing for the first few weeks I managed to pancake my AspX in high gravity and lost about 2wks of exploration data. Promptly uninstalled and sulked for a week then reinstalled and went back to playing.
Now I'd just laugh at such a small loss.

Ah! I see. :)

Well... It can happen to any of us if we aren't paying attention. And the number of planets that fall into that category is so low, it isn't something most of us expect.

Atm I seriously wonder if there are ppl paid for spreading threads like this. If everyone leaving a game would ... ah forget it.
We need more newcomers posting the opposite stuff.

My previous CMDR ended his career pancaking into the dark side of a planet while I was on course to a Guardian ruin. I was so baffled by my stupidity that I cleared the CMDR save (over 900 hours) and started afresh.

With about 200 hours into my new CMDR and never facing a rebuy, I felt so proud. Until I just had to take a screenshot whilst undocking at Professor Palin's outpost and my corvette got blown to oblivion for loitering. I cursed and then immediately burst out laughing.

I swear the most dangerous thing in my game is just plain old me. :D

I never uninstall a game out of rage.

Because it will usually take me about 20 hours to download it again, which equals more rage. :D

I've also pancaked many a ship due to high gravity, which I completely ignored, or didn't notice. :D

It's kinda weird the srv has a low gravity warning (high too????) But your ship doesn't... Would be handy in glide that eh?

Wow, surely i would not have the courage do delete my save.
Props for laughing at your corvette, i would have cry a little.
