Two quick questions :

Some planets are "in the process of being terraformed". Do they count as terrafoming candidate ?

If a planet orbits two stars (AB 1 for ex.), does it count as a body for both stars ?

I think these should count as terraformable for now, when FD implement changes to systems will review it then as things could start to get complicated with record potentially changing catagories!

A planet orbiting two stars is considered to be in a barycentric orbit. I think they are not included in calculating planets orbiting a star. Would need confirmation from a more experienced explorer.
My own personal rule of thumb is a planet in the process of being terraformed counts as a terraformed planet.
planet orbiting two stars, count towards most planets orbiting star. I don't expect any to have a lasting record from any of these as single star's seem to have a lot more bodies, I could be wrong with this.
I don't remember this situation arising yet so this could change!
I have my own question. Do asteroid clusters count toward number of bodies in a system? The record for class M stars is 58 bodies, but I have a star with 57 bodies and 11 asteroid clusters from one belt.

Also, I would really like clarification on what defines nesting.

Actually, would it be possible to get an index of definitions and qualification requisites? I know it would be a lot of extra work for making the book, but I feel it would explain a lot of potentially confusing items.

unfortunately asteroid clusters don't count, nesting is a bit completed this was a category proposed by an other cmdr who hasn't been around for a while to explain it
heres his original post
Another possible new category (stellar) - deepest nesting of a stellar body: 245 G. Carinae A 5 A is a 3rd-tier stellar body

That is to say, it is a star orbiting a star that orbits another star, without any binary relationships.

Theoretically, a 4th-tier stellar orbit is also possible, given a sufficiently heavy primary star.
and here a pic I done

seems binary's don't count as several nestings, they share the same one I think?
Here's a quick pic I made:

will do my best to add category specific rules when I get a chance!
big update to do tonight!:D

Thank you very much for this reply. I am glad to know for a fact whether I need to prepare screenshots for the 57 body system or not.

Do we know what the deepest possible nesting the game allows is? Is there a hard limit?

I presume any errors we find with the manual ought to be posted here (everything from spelling to records conflicting).

There's thousands of icy planets with 0.00 surface pressure and 20K surface temperature.

I think the book should just say "many" (like the records for smallest black hole or lightest rocky planet) and be done with it.

I agree that it's a bit silly to set a specific body to hold a record which many bodies of the same type hold.

we are working on it, like you probally noticed this book is a lot of work and some of the record will either be removed or set as not special

lowest surface pressure is a new category recently added but as it is 0.00 it will be changed, but 20k could be beatable, it was recently believed that 12k was the coldest a gas giant would go until last night when a gas giant with 3k was found so that one stays

If I may ask, how many people are working on the book directly?

only 2
I done the content and records
and rukmerot helps with updates
+ all you guy contributing your records!:D

yes I currently count them as terraformable
and yes again as there are 400billion systems to explore I don't expect a single system to hold more then 1 record

Added latest records!
records are getting better some amazing finds cmdr's well done:D
@grazbaat those are some really high quality records, that black hole is amazing. and well done finding those previously unknown star types, will add a new page in a bit I'm also thinking of adding one for that c-type sub class

I think I have a candidate for biggest rings:

I crashed into these 3 times trying to measure them. Total 72 Ls Radius:

And even better, theres a planet orbitting between the first and 2nd rings.

sorry don't count those yet, also someone posted a bigger one a few pages back, that planet is a nice find haven't seen that yet

Added latest records and added new pages for C-J stars and SM stars!:D
@Grazbaat how many bodies around MS-star EOS SCRAA ZI-T D3-106 A?

Thanks Patau!

Actually I you add the C-J sub-class you might want to add the C-N's as well, most C's are C-N's. I haven't come across a single "pure" C star and doubt they would be in game since they're either C-N's, C-R's, C-H's or C-Hd's. So far I only came across C-N's (quite common in some regions) or C-J's (much sparser). No C-H or C-Hd in sight for now.
You could check again the records for the C category, they're probably C-N's.
About your question on EOS SCRAA ZI-T D3-106 A, I can't say, I don't have a full view screenshot so the one with the most bodies would be EOS SCRAA QL-Y D627 A with 7.

Btw: if you start separating the C-class into C-N and C-J's you might want to have a look a the white dwarves...but that would be a mess since there's a bunch of sub-types (D, DA, DC, DCO, DAO, DCVO, DABO,...) your call :p
