IDK if anyone notice this, but in the wings trailer all the wingmans are Star Treck Characters, and they are going to Leonard Nimov Station... so anyone has droped the UA inside the station?... Maybe its too obvious, but for me the Star Trek Reference its clear.... Give the damn UA to Spock!!! XD

I have and that's a pretty exhaustive endeavor because having watched ALL of Star Trek available there are virtually 1000s of references and possibilities for "solutions".

I do keep that fact in the back of my mind when I theorize things, like my last one the UA being a space baby of some sort like the creature feeding off the Enterprise in TNG.

Yes. Been done.

BTW - Im not going near Reddit. I would have to be dragged kicking and screaming out of Mobius. Said it before, if we had a section on this forum (near Explorers), we might have a decent compromise. We could at least have a few threads without them getting swamped and lost as they would in General Discussion.

There are a lot more systems mentioned in the journals missing though. I've done some investigation and found that there are 133 different systems mentioned in the FFE journals. Of those, only 53 exist in ED. Missing systems include Veliaze which is mentioned in the very first "Thargoids - Truth and Fiction" article as first system Thargoids were seen in.

If anyone wants a list let me know and I'll clean it up and post it somewhere.

Methodology: I wrote a program that generates the 324,784 systems within 100 sectors of Sol in FFE. For each of those the program searched the 656 FFE journal stories from http://www.dream-ware.co.uk/first-encounters/journals/all/ to see if the system name was mentioned. For the 133 that were found, it then searched the EDSC data to see if they appeared in ED. For the 80 that weren't found in the EDSC data I did a manual search in the galaxy map just to be sure (none found except "Source" which is apparently an alias for Sagittarius A*).

Brilliant stuff.

I would love to see the list of the 133 systems.

Would also be nice to do a similar search on the books that are on dream-ware (FE2 and FFE books).

What hapened to dream ware, by the way. Was it banned?

Once again, "maximizing efficiency" does not mean making this into a dayjob, and you're being very narrow minded to think it is. I refer to doing exactly what we're doing now except made easier.

As for it being my opinion, that does not mean I am wrong, and that does not make you right. You can have the opinion that consoles run faster than a well built PC, but that doesn't change the fact that they don't. The same goes for this type of forum. It is clunky and outdated and people need to get their minds out of the past and move on to greener pastures. Saying that something like reddit isn't less time consuming and confusing seems to merely be a side effect of your refusal to accept change.

Regardless of the merits or otherwise of reddit, you're not going to convince everyone to move there. I'd suggest letting people choose the forum they prefer, but it would be good for both forums if one or more people did keep up with both and so could pass good ideas between the two forums. Are you up for it Murp?

And you repeatedly posting the same arguments over and over and over again, despite many folk here saying we don't want to go that route, and ignoring their reasoning, does not mean you are right either. Welcome to my ignore list.

Whether Clavian sees this or not, I'd just like to say to those who do that this is not how you are going to encourage people to join this cause. I really enjoyed working with you people, but if so many of you are going to be this closed minded, I'm probably not going to be coming back to this thread very often. Clavian seemed nice, but apparently as soon as you say something he disagrees with... well, yeah. I wasn't trying to force this on anyone, I made like two suggestions saying we should try something else and apparently this is the result.

And for the record, I wasn't the one "repeatedly posting the same arguments over and over and over again" and "ignoring their reasoning".

Another thing people misinterpreted, I never said we had to completely abandon this thread. I just wanted to encourage people to check out the subreddit and it turned into this.

Hello CMDR's.

I will again refer to the Micheals Brooks comment “Have you listened to them?”.

Since all tests with sound recording probably went with so much less no need sounds as possable it raised a qustion in me.
I have experianced in other games that sometimes an object or an event trigger an complete difrent music what normaly not played by standart music list while playing.

So my question is: " Did any of the testers tryed to aproch the UA while his misuc was not desabled in the settings? meaby it will trigger some kind of other music with embeded message or something?

I know its probably not the case.... but since alot of stuff have been tryed already we have to try this as well......you never know meaby it will trigger something.

Yes I had my audio settings all on but I found the music to just interferr with the UA sounds not assist it so I turned them off also I'm not making a Reddit account because of some toxicity that I've seen happen there and I'm perfectly fine with spending a few more hours going through one thread instead of trying to go through loads of others which................looking at right now by their titles have ideas which have already been done or discussed here and we already get enough of old ideas coming back here........also downvotes.....................just no......

EDIT: I am happy to answer questions they send my way as there's probably things that I've done but not put on the wiki or mentioned.......just pls no PM spam.....so you could have someone like collect up the questions and PM me them or make a Reddit thread for people to dump their questions and I'll.....maybe......maybe.....make an Reddit account for that......

Well, I'm off to reddit so I can harvest their upvotes and share our knowledge :D

You think this thread is bad for people posting repeat test... geez :D its scary there

If I find anything cool I'll bring it back here o7 wish me luck

........also downvotes.....................just no......

Exactly. We really need active downvoting like a collective hole in the head.

I think the thing is that people will ultimately use the tool(s) that suit them the most. The people that are exclusively using reddit will continue to do so, and the people that exclusively use the forum will continue to do so. Some people use both. If anyone changes their minds, either off their own backs or because of a suggestion made by anyone else, then that's just human nature - and most likely because one is offering something that the other isn't. There are a few here that read reddit and cross-post interesting things and vice versa; that works for me.

From my own point of view, I found it extremely hard to get into the last thread and this one initially, but after a few days of monitoring, I wrote a post and got into the swing of it. Yes it's hard to catch up if you miss more than a day or two - but at least posts don't get selectively hidden because they don't get enough upvotes. I use stackoverflow.com a lot as a developer - and on there the up/down vote works exceptionally well. It's not a good mechanism for collaboration, though. A good idea could get lost because one person thinks it's rubbish, it gets selectively hidden and users have to actively choose to read content that others have deemed worthless; and who does that? I never expand the collapsed replies.

I understand Clavain's frustration myself; and I understand Murp's too. I just don't agree with Murp. If I did - I'd be on reddit already and would probably be commenting there on a statement from someone else about why we're not using the forum :)

I must say it's funny seeing Murp rage at people for not reading the wiki :D he's doing a good job, or at least he's doing his best

Oh? Well he's doing UA holders jobs.....huh I also wonder why he's not a mod on that subreddit yet as well since he seems to be the only one who (has revealed himself) goes on reddit and here sorta though reddit more. Also just to add on to what I said last time about my comment about reddit's toxicity, I recall a guy just posting a long theory after a lot of work and just had all of reddit or a lot of it, just going at him with all hate stuff and what he said there was reasonable compared to some things that have been theoried here (not recently....I think.....) although I think he was later dispproved but that guy within the day deleted the post and his account.......I'm not saying though that all of reddit is like that but still it's there somewhere.

Yeah... reddit is a link sharing site, not a forum. It's not designed to handle this kind of discussion. But I'll do my best to integrate the communities and get the reddit scyned with us.

was just showing my developer friend what this UA looked like and I randomly picked this yt video.. It's the fish one, so han Zen will be pleased.

https://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=fuolLD5lvq4

I noticed something I've not noticed before... On the bottom of the fish capsule there are 5 lights, in the same formation that 5 has on a dice. The lights flash in different formations then seem to flash one light continually. I wonder, I wonder... I'll try to find some time to look at other vids with canisters ejected to see if theres any pattern, but could someone else take a look and confirm that I'm seeing things and that this has already been analysed to death?

My developer friend didn't have any clues by the way. He works for a booking company and has never had to code an alien life form before.

Man alive - if this turns out to be something that will have been some serious serendipity...

lol reddit. I frequent reddit but this kind of thing does not work. 90% of the posts are "Have you tried shooting it??" and the answers are 90% "yes we actually have". Read the wiki!

After a couple of PMs regarding testing, it became clear that there may be some wider confusion about how many UAs I am looking after.

Just the one. Called Kitty. I don't like it. Kitty will go bye-bye. I may drink while it does.

Hello tinfoil brigade! *Waves hand*

Did you read the new Galnet article about the tragic end of two traffic officers, one being rumoured to be connected to the disappearance of SF1?
Now you think "this totally is just a cleaning house operation" removing everyone who knows a part of the real happenings from the scene,
by some involved political agitator benefitting of it.

If you reflect the stuff that happened while the shadow president was still alive,
like for instance the bloodbath on Kappa Fornacis, one might find similarites in the
evolving of named events.

- Kappa Fornacis was bombed because of "onionhead" plantations.
- the cerberus disease spread, a three "headed" beast.

Those two events might be linked, maybe onionhead is a "thargoid baby", or just
a basic vessel for the cerberus plague, since the smuggling and consumption of it never really stopped.
Do we have data about the infected systems in relation to onionhead consumption?
Do thargoids only appear after the consumption and dilation of the mind by onionhead?

Has the UA an "onionhead"?
Is it able to find infected people, acting as assasins on the great 3?

Tried scanning ships in SC or close to a station in the alliance's HQ system?
Maybe we get fuzzy sensor data?

Or might it be possible that "Walden" commonly known as the fugitive "Waldo" had a secret base on LaveII,
which the UA can identify?
