Odd thought: Looking at the similarities between SAP 8 Core and SAG A* at the core. On my cheapo US keyboard, * is shift 8. possibly the SAP8 is what is needed at SAG A* ? With or w/o the UA?
Heh aye, who knows! Fancy carrying one out there? =p
Bit random, but is there anywhere that might give you a reflection of your ship? I mean a black hole with weird gravitational lensing or something like that? Something that could be a portal to another alternate universe?
The 'two snakes' riddle got me wondering if you could find somewhere where there were 'two snakes looking at each other, but both are the same' that might mean somewhere where your ship (named after a snake) can see another version of itself (alluding to another parallel universe perhaps) then that might be where to take a UA to, in order to 'open the door'.
Prolly a stupid idea but from a SciFi point of view it seemed kinda cool and semi-worth asking.
I currently seem to be attempting to get at the contents of a SAP8.
Dat foot-long crystal! =p
- Tried a mining laser
- Tried keeping one in a hold with toxic waste (I don't think cargo can degrade other cargo can it?)
- Tried maneuvering SAP8 and toxic waste together in space
Nothing to see here I think. =(

Just for anyone intrigued by the SAP8s like I currently seem to be..
FWIW The SAP8 containers look no different to other containers, well exactly the same as Painite and Hafnium at least. Even down to the same number on the canisters.
So nothing interesting about SAP8s visually. =(

Has anyone tried a highres printscreen of that canisters and try to scan the barcode with a barcode scanner?
Has anybody considered there may only be a finite amount of these and when the last ones Explode/expire it may trigger something? I've been searching on and off since the whole saga began and not found one.
Look at that video. The thing is designed to to exactly what it does in that video clip. YOu can even see the explosion starts at the bottom cylinders. Which are stored energy. Each little explosion triggers the next sending the energy up to the node. After that it looks like it opens a rip in space.
These things are sending the info through the rip it makes to whomever.
I think after they all have done what they are designed to do explode like that after scanning. Some more strange happenings will start. Or perhaps something will come through the rip. Or the rip will stay open? Who knows because you guys wont let the last 2 off these things do EXACTLY what they are designed to do.
Just let them go see what happens.
I am sure if i am wrong the devs wont let this die and not release a couple more for you to figure out what they do. BUt by simplest explanation the clip of them exploding it EXACTLY what they do.
And people thinking if you take them to sag A. How do you think something that lasts for only 6 min at most or less on its own would ever survive a trip to sag a. It was not designed to do that. It was designed to collect data - explode- send data through rip
Here is a drawing diagram of an EMP bomb. These UAs blow up like an EMP bomb. The explosion increases the energy stored in the device.

These devices are exploding the way they do to send the power up to the blub/node that opens the rip/door/wormhole and sends the info.
I think once the last of these UAs have sent the final message something will happen.
I should be able to do it with what we have if it's actually a real barcode. Gimme a moment.
JOB DONE! And... nothing. The barcode doesn't follow normal barcode format from what I can tell. My barcode scanner, cell phone barcode reader, and me manually trying to translate it was fruitless.
Invtered and cleaned raw barcode:
Barcode reconstruction:
I tried to translate it to raw numbers, but it doesn't follow the traditional barcode format for any numbering system I know.
I don't think this has anything to do with the artefact at all.
Thank you. Was worth a shot!GOod job!
*Also, does this post give any new hints? It's a galnet post. I couldn't find references to it in this thread.

Breakthrough in Artefact Research?
Breakthrough in Artefact Research?
After meticulous and sometimes tedious investigation, scientists working under Dr Arcanonn have uncovered that the recently discovered "Unknown Artefacts" may have some basis in human technology.
Audio studies of the objects show that they emit a distorted but audible signal matching the very long-established Earth signalling scheme morse code, through which the artefact broadcasts the identity of the nearest celestial body when released into free space.
Speculation is rife as to what purpose the artefacts have - scanners, navigational aids, or Thargoid homing-beacons. All of which is considered more concerning now that it is understood that the artefacts appear to have knowledge of morse code, and thus potentially other human technologies, embedded within them.
Dr Arcanonn's team have renewed their plea to the Federal Government to release any information they possess about the artefacts in order to assist with the continuing research.

It was player-submitted by someone in this thread (CMDR QQ IIRC?). Again, if I remember it right, FDev posted it without modifications. Perhaps someone else can confirm?

Yeah that's all I can think of too. The fact that FD have mentioned that riddle twice now made me think it was somehow significant, possibly to this hunt...

This UA can be solved entirely from ingame, no need to alt-tab for anything.
Just sayin...
The riddle only has one answer. john milius.
LOL I do jest. Yes maybe putting both near each other and letting them do what they are supposed to do and scan-explode-send info through rip
