Unpopular Opinion: JWE2 should be PC exclusive

Hear me out. The original JWE is VERY limited. And why is that? It's because of console compatibility. Planet Zoo has an amazing building system that we are so close to having for JWE2, but we might not get it because of universal's moneygrabbing.

That would be nice but it's never going to happen. There is just too much money involved in multi-platform games these days.

Too late to hope, whatever on Earth this 2021 game really is, will be on PC only.
Read paragraph eight of this London Stock Exchange news article and tell me what it says.
“Two major new releases from internal development teams are currently planned for financial year 2022 (the 12 months ending 31 May 2022), one of which will benefit from a major global IP licence, as announced in March 2019, and will be released on multiple platforms.”

It’s already decided for multiple platforms. So the speculation and hopes for this 2021 game being PC only is completely out of the picture now.

It says it will be available in 2020 and it will be on multiple platforms. I didn't see anything about a PC exclusive unless I missed it.

I did see this.

Frontier is also targeting a number of other very significant future opportunities. Two major new releases from internal development teams are currently planned for financial year 2022 (the 12 months ending 31 May 2022), one of which will benefit from a major global IP licence, as announced in March 2019, and will be released on multiple platforms.

I wonder if they are really working on some kind of JP/JW game that isn't a park builder/tycoon game?

Also it seems Frontier plans to just port Planet Coaster over to consoles. I wonder if they found a way to make all menus, sub menus and item placement tolerable on with a controller? That would be nice if they did cause maybe that would mean JWE 2 might be able to have the same level of customization that Planet Coaster has. Also Planet Zoo could be ported to consoles as well.

This doesn't necessarily mean JWE2 is in development. I'm betting my money that it is going to be a long awaited, Jurassic World/Park type of survival/horror game that will coincide with the new movie in 2021. It would make more sense to release an entirely different Jurassic game than to release a JWE2. In my opinion, there is no need for a JWE2. Frontier can keep updating and releasing DLCs for the current game.

If Frontier were going to do anything other than a sim type game (i.e. survival horror) then I hope they'd bring in another team to develop and remain as publishers. I don't think they have the ability to release a good SH game - and that's not me having a go, it's just not the games they specialise or have expertise in to go it alone

I'd say the same about Harmonix releasing an RPG, or Bethesda releasing an online only FPS live service type thing (wait... what?)

JWE2 should remain in the same vein as RCT2 - it should build on the foundations of the first and make major improvements and additions to the base game. I'd like to say that they don't need to release a second, but IMO so many things in this game can't be fixed through updates, only through a new base game - examples being the lack of deep terrain tools (no water depth, no cliffs etc), the horrible path tools that don't sit flat but conform to hills, the lack of guest interaction/management to name a few

Actually there is a need. JWE sold really well so a sequel has a pretty good chance of happening. The things people want just wouldn't be possible with the current engine the game uses and the current consoles. They can' only keep updating the game so much. A sequel with a newer more capable version of the Cobra engine will basically be needed.

It probably won't be a survival horror. Maybe survival or some type of third person adventure game. It most certainly wouldn't be a horror game.

All they said was it "will be released on multiple platforms". Though they didn't say which platforms it will be on, it should be answer enough to confirm it won't be for just one platform (PC).

If it means JWE 2 is a proper zoo builder sim like Planet Zoo and not some dumbed-down mess like JWE than yes please! Seriously... this isn't even the kind of game that should be on consoles anyways, there's just no way it can hope to reach its full potential if it's limited to console specs...
