Unpopular Opinions

i have a few
1. twilight pack is great and doesn't deserve the hate
2. flying birds isnt a priority, and most likely is a waste of development (if we get flying birds it's going to be a closer pack, and frankly i dont see them as necassary)
3. the black lava rock doesnt need to be flexicolour
4. i only want small new world monkeys and the golden snub nosed monkey (personal bias)
5. more butterflies for the WE
6. twilight has the best scenery of any pack
7. the malaysian tapir is perfectly fine
8.i dont want the walrus
the list goes on....
i would love to hear the responses for my hot takes

7. the malaysian tapir is perfectly fine
Oh that reminds me

I do think that Malayan Tapir was very lazily done, we've got clones before and after, but to just slap a skin on top of existing model is completely different story

H O W E V E R ...

Here comes the possible hot take

I do believe that if we got this exact same Malayan Tapir (you know humpless, short trunk, purple hue, Baird's facial marking...all of that), in the base game, before or instead of the Baird's Tapir - Not nearly as many people would complain even tho it would still be anatomically wrong

1.& 6. Dont know if i would call it the best, but its definetly up there.
2. Heavily disagree :D
3. Also heavily disagree, its just so much missed potential
4. Give me all the monkeys, in an ideal world i want another 15 species
5. Eh nah id prefer anything else
7. Doesnt bother me too much since i never use it and prefer the bairds anyway, but its just incredibly lazy
8. I dont NEED it either, wouldnt be mad if we get it either

I actually don't know if this is an unpopular opinion but since we don't seem to have one...

  • We need a free update features metalist

Frontier gets community feedback on wanted animals from the metalist, how are we giving a large voice to the features we want in game? (Consistent animal signs and statues come to mind).

YES I can’t believe this doesn’t exist.

Can someone start that? Please?

New thread is now made :)

Thanks! I'll probably add to this later, feels like a good sit down for an hour kind of post which I dont have the time for now.

@Colehunter35 I respectfully disagree with the Malayan tapir and walrus. While I agree on the fact the Malayan tapir is perfectly useable and I have used it numerous times I believe it does deserve better. And for the walrus although not essential by no means this might possibly be the coolest animal frontier could add at this point with the exception of a manatee. And I definitely disagree with the birds. The system is already in place and it would work perfect imo. Sure it would involve looped animations but so be it. Bats work same could be said about birds. I’m very optimistic we do indeed get at least one flying bird before development ends.

A pet peeve of mine is when people complain about lack of birds in the new pack when what they really mean is FLYING birds....please specify this because it makes it look like you don't know Penguins and Kiwis are birds. I know what they mean but still lol

Also I would be 100% fine if we didn't get any more bears or pigs. I would welcome them if they are added but would rather more unique critters.

How is that "disrespect"? It's an opinion on a concept, not an attack against a person. I'm saying this as someone who prefers the European versions of North American wildlife.

I don't think it's outrageous to consider the wildlife that appears in one's garden to be "boring" compared to big ticket zoo animals or more exotic species, and Americans and Europeans just so happen to share a lot of 'garden variety' species, so of course they'll think the other is boring. You can't force people to like the things you like or want the things you want.

Anyway, the only European species that really ought to be added have what most people consider substitutes already in the game - the brown bear and bison. Others - wolverine or muskox, for example - all occur in North America as well. The mouflon is brought up a lot, and while cool, it's more broadly an Asian species (Middle East). Then there's the wild boar, which is an invasive species in North America (and Oceania for that matter), so again you can't blame people for not being super enthused by it (like, I don't want the brush-tailed possum especially either, because I see it as a massive pest, but I'm sure our Australian friends wouldn't like to hear that, because it's a protected species over there).
The possum is also huge annoyance here as well but it is so cute I wouldn't mind it in the game. I find the whole I dont want anything from blank region idea to be a largely short sighted view as often it entirely relies on where your from things like the raccoon and skunk people didnt want because they are from largely urban areas and didnt feel exotic enough but for those outside the region they did. I do agree that a large majority of common zoo European animals are just reskins of Asian or north American animals but that doesn't mean a whole region is boring. also the whole its invasive I dont want it idea also is very short sighted because for me the dromedary camel, fallow deer and red fox are symbolic of invasive species but for many these species dont hold that identity and are symbols of there home or the zoos around them.

But that's kind of my whole point. You can't have just positive opinions in any discussion - it's either all opinions or none. If someone doesn't want or like what you want or like, it's not your place to say, "I feel disrespected." They're allowed to share their views just as you're allowed to share yours.

Again, it's important to understand where I'm coming from on this; as I mentioned before, I actually prefer European species to North American ones. I still think it's fine for Americans to say they find European species boring or too similar to their own animals, or that they don't want them for any other reason. Just as I frequently say I absolutely unequivocally do not want any more North American species because I find them kind of boring (even the exciting ones).

Everyone's opinions on what should/shouldn't be in the game depends entirely on their own criteria. As you say, "it relies on where you're from". As a New Zealander, North American species don't feature in our zoos really at all, beyond some super basic ones; the American bison and American alligator. So, naturally, when I think of the zoo I want to build, I don't consider North American species at all important. Conversely, most of our American members share the opposite view; one particular member often and loudly proclaims that they didn't want the kiwi. I could choose to be offended by that, but why would I be? It's no skin off my nose, and the animal is in the game now, so I'm happy.

(Disclaimer: I'm using 'you' in general terms, not directing this at you specifically).

Actually yes. In my mind, every animal adds something to the game. I may not have wanted the Arctic fox at first, but even when it was added, I don't think I actually hated it. I just had a preference. But now, I actually quite enjoy its inclusion for variety, even if I personally would never use it

I fully agree getting mad because some people like or want animals that you dont is dumb I only have a problem with the people who get so butt hurt at the possibility that certain animals might be wanted or added or those who lean extremely into region supremacy.
This is by no means directed at you in particular.
