FDEV do have control over how it is downloaded
So they can independently decide that one user will only be able to download at 0.5MBPs while others can download at 20MBPs, can they? At the exact same time? Because several comments in this forum have implied that the experience people have gotten is consistent with this disparity.
And doing though that launcher is Not a good way.
That depends on a number of factors. A blanket statement like the one I just quoted from you does not cover every scenario. Steam use their own download system for their games, and I have yet to encounter a fault with anything I've ever purchased from them.
They could put it up on more servers, faster servers. There are ways to improve this.
You're assuming that everyone is getting the same problem. As I already explained, I did not. My download was quick, and I'm also on a FTTC connection that averages 60-70MBPs downlink speeds. In fact, my download was done within a few minutes of my starting it, which was right in the middle of someone else who was experiencing download speeds that would have taken days to complete.
So once again... Blaming FDEV for the discrepancy is a bit simplistic in my book.
There is a ton of people getting 0.03Mbit speeds from the launcher on their 100Mbit connections. That is Not Good
And there's a number of other people who are not encountering any issues whatsoever downloading the client at all. If everyone was experiencing the issue, you might have a case, but it['s not everyone. It's not even the majority. It's far too inconsistent and unpredictable an issue to make those kinds of judgments.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered. I promise I did at least a vague search prior to asking. Are we (beta testers) supposed to delete the Public_Test_Server file folder from our ED install? I ask because I'm running the game on my SSD and want to keep it as free of unnecessary files as I can and this file is 3.5GB.
I just deleted mine. I assume it's safe since the beta for 1.1 is now over and the folder was not present prior to the beta beginning.
