IMPORTANT: Update 1.3.6 – Cedar Point’s Steel Vengeance!

I love the little surprises like this. I just checked it out on my lunch and it looks awesome in game. Hoping for more Cedar Fair stuff. I'd buy dlc of that

Thank you! I do not have time to play now until after late autumn (sweatshop crunching time now) but I am always happy to note new updates!

Thank you, Frontier for this amazing update. Definitely some exciting news with joining a partnership with Cedar Properties and promoting Steel Vengeance for the 2018 opening. If you guys partner with other theme park entertainment companies try for Herschend Family Entertainment and release Lightning Rod with the hydraulic launch as a new feature in the future.

These updates, especially the Steel Vengeance just makes this game, IMO, the best creation and simulation game of it's time. And I hope to see Planet Coaster thrive for years to come.

Sincerely,
A Dollywood Employee

First licensed content from Universal, now a collaboration with Cedar Point ... you surprise us everytime new. I'm curious what you pull next out of your hat. [shocked]

Very nice update. Not enormous, but very special. Thx Frontier! Can't wait to use the brand new content. ;)

For the future, I hope there will be also collabrations with Disneyland, Sixflags, Merlin Entertainments (Alton Towers, Thorpe Park [UK], Heidepark [Germany], Legolands, The Dungeons, etc.) and Europa-Park (Germany).

Awesome!:rex::smile:
Thanks for the update and the new coaster Frontier! :)
I'm so excited to check out the new stuff later today.:rex::face:

Great Cedar Coaster and really awesome Signs

Thank you for the cedar coaster. The ride sign is an artwork I would like to have in a similar form for all coasters and rides of planet coaster. Is it possible to get similar (maybe wooden) signs for the planet coaster rides in a future update?[big grin] In patience I just still waiting for those signs and for me it is one of the things I'm missing since the game has been released. For me it's no problem to pay for that extra if you will give it as a DLC, because so many things you had given to us during the last months for no extra money.

Best regards
Michael

They decreased the friction slightly for the new version, as well as give it less track restrictions so it can make the 90 degree drop.

The in-game version is also a lot taller than the real life version.

It's a shame. Because even if it is taller, the onride does not match the onride provided by the park in terms of pacing.
After the mid-course brake the ingame version becomes very slow, and it does not resemble the intensity the park's published video is bringing over.

So they had to cheat their own arbitrary restrictions and problematic physics to make a realistic coaster to even function at all, and the result is still subpar. Surely this must have opened some eyes at Frontier? Players can hardly build realistic rides with the current simulation and this is the "official" proof, if there was even a need to prove it yet again. Also, I can't imagine that promotional partners are too happy if the in-game depiction is basically mocking the product they want to advertise.

Gotta give Frontier credit for exposing their game's shortcomings in such a loud manner, though. Or maybe they are confident that this issue will soon be a thing of the past. I can only hope.

The friction issue is probably about game balance, but there should be an option to enable more realistic friction in Sandbox mode.

Come on, the physics are ridiculous. It's the biggest issue with PC by far, a scar on an otherwise amazing game.

This recreation of Vengeance:
  • Has a drop 23 feet taller than the real thing will
  • Has the physics modified to lower friction
  • Omits the MCBR (since PC's MCBRs always slow you down)

And it STILL manages to crawl through the end. Great update, but this should be a wake-up call to fix the physics.

It is something for thought, right? Maybe they did not have time to do the time intense work with the adjustments. One can always hope. Or we can also hope for ability to modify the game that way, by user mods.

No it doesn't, and no they don't.
It has mid course trim brakes. I changed them to block brakes with no issue.
I also tweaked it to get 4 trains running with only a couple second wait at the end of the station block. [haha]
