Update 11: let the complaints begin....

I'm not sure I'll be spending any more money on this game at this point. FDev just can't even put in basic expected features that almost certainly were thought of by the devs. Why it never made it into development is a matter for debate.

I must be def I'm talking about the crew who sit in the the flight deck just in front of the captains chair.
It seems when you're on the deck you can't hear them, but when you're off the command deck passing by you can occasionally hear them, I spent about 2 hours in my carrier in different parts listening to them, their lines are limited or their position of the vocals is off one of the two.
Not really an excuse, can you imagine if you were playing WOW and all fight times doubled/tripled cause Blizzard could not support their player base numbers.
Uh bro you've never heard of TIDI I'm assuming from EvE have you?

Bringing up EvE's example of Tidi, it's used so that it doesn't overwhelm the server, in EvE we have battles with thousands of players I was involved in one of the biggest battles in EvE with over 10,000 players we had to deal with our commands being slowed down because there were so many players on the server at once in the system at once that they had to MOVE THE JITA SERVER to support us and the Jita server is a major backbone for the largest trading system in the game. I used to run billions through Jita and GOONS would do burn Jita and we'd have TIDI or no entry due to the Goons doing goon things.

So your answer it already happens in other MMO's.
Sorry I should have been more clear I'm NOT talking about voice acting. I'm stating the fact. If you sit on a chair right next to the bartender you can not interact with them. It only works while standing.
Def something that could be brought up in the suggestions part of the forums.

Yes I use this all the time. While it's fantastic, It is a third party solution and not in-game route plotting rather a list of what to plot to. Since fleet carriers are not actually flown, I'm suggesting more of an automated jumping sequence.
I can see how you would want that, but I don't think that's going to change totally, as useful as it would be (And I can see the use) Fdev wants player input to direct them instead of automation from the way they've spoke about them in the past. I think that was asked on a stream a while ago.

Do you watch Sci-fi Star Trek?, Star Wars? Anything really?
They aren't in the Elite universe so drawing stuff from them is useless in this universe when it comes to the way physics are here vs there

I do understand that Elite tries to be scientifically accurate on some levels, though Faster Than Light Speed, is not one of them. Hell even in space balls at ludicrous speed Rick Monranis is standing and survived LOL.
That's not elite again
BTW if you want to be that logical, then siting or standing would still mean your demies. G-force is G-force regardless of where you plant your backside.
Again you can argue with Fdev on this man, but again you're bringing stuff from other universes into elite, which won't be applicable here.

The FC bartender is completely useless.

Why didn't they just make it work the same as station bartenders?
Transfer stock from your ship to your carrier in the Ody assets and you can set the bar tender up, the way they limited it to 100 overall is a bit small imo.

my issue is that they say they wont develop vr for on foot, but when the carrier jumps and your in vr it literally switches to proper vr head look during the jump sequence, and then switches back to the flat panel. come on frontier just copy pasta

I think the bar looks a bit boring to me considering of the price of 250 million. I expected a large bar with colored neon lights similar to the ones on the big space stations!

Wish list
1. Fix Tritium refuelling, so I don't need to get into a ship to refuel (can I sack my tritium depot crew they have never done a days job in their life)

As a new carrier owner, this has to be one of the biggest and most obvious short-comings. If we were allowed to set the size of the tritium depot, or have the crew refuel from storage, we could move a carrier across the galaxy (or more usefully, Sol to Colona) without needing to be on board it the whole time. The current arrangement (storage to ship to depot) seems absurd.

The bar does have a nice big window, which is probably the only reason I'd want it.

Neither serves drinks, but at least you can trade stuff at the station ones.

The use case for FC bartenders is.... well, practically nonexistent.

Serving drinks is not that useful anyway. Its like in GTA online, you might order a drink once, go hey, that's neat, then never do it again.
Maybe, but I'd fly all the way to Jaques to do it. The bum owes me a drink, and I intend to collect.

Not that credits are a big deal these days but costs and mass seem a bit out of line with the services provided. eg: The entire maintenance & repair infrastructure for servicing giant starships weighs 20 tons less than a Pioneer store. Said little store on the concourse also costs as much as a shipyard or outfitting infrastructure.
Or you can close down the bar with its one bartender but it hardly saves any of the expense, still costing 1.25M/wk.

Speaking of the bar, the arbitrary sale value of odyssey materials is so low that a 1000% range doesn't even begin to cut it for players. They should have either let players set uncapped prices, or run it on a barter system like the original bars do.

Both captain's chairs on the flight deck and in the ready room need to make use of those panels for carrier management while seated.

So, it wouldkind of validate that statement then.

  • I can not board my own ship when in a team on a FC. Reason: team options -> do not allow team members to board. So leaving the team or changing the setting allows me to board my own ship again...
  • if you install the EDO services on the FC, it can happen that all new services get the same crew member (same name, just different outfits)
  • the circle-wheel -> FC button brings me to the carrier menu of the FC I'm currently visiting, not to the carrier menu of my own FC... I would have expected to get access to my own FC, like right panel in my ship
  • you can't use emotes when seated (e.g. pointing = "engage")
  • we need a dance-emote for the bar...

  • The left bridge NPC has a mirrored keyboard (and all keyboards don't have enough rows)... ok, this is nitpicking, but I noticed it in the first hour on the FC...
