Update 13, Narrative and Access to 4.0

I replied to it twice already. Don't see what's unclear about it.
But, the resonse has nothing to do with the question asked... Let me refresh your memory:
Were they ever purported to be included in Odyssey?
Try reading it again, and resonding precisely to the actual question - the answer is "no", by the way. (in case you have difficulty in understanding what was asked)

ETA: I assume you have mixed up ED with Star Citizen..

Eh? Horizons was specifically air-less rocky and icy planets, go back and read the release notes
They only mentione Tenous Atmospheric planets - nothing about clouds/water or dense. It haven't even been confirmed that they will added them to the game at all.

For On-foot content we only have Odyssey. You don't think they will start from scratch and built an EVA Expansion or DLC? It's just doesn't feels like a lot of content for either.

Btw: Strafield already comes with Ship boarding.
It's hard to beleive we are still arguing about which version of the game will get it, after 10 years of waiting for it. I wonder if they still remember about them?

A lot of developers seem to be moving to saying nothing nowadays. Wonder why.
I think that is the Cyberpunk Syndrome, associated with talking up features in marketing that didn’t exist upon the games release.

It’s better not to say or show anything, as the consequences can de damaging to the industry, as we saw.

But, it has also led to a lot more gaming delays/cancellations.

Argue as much as you wish for what we will get...

We happen to be discussing what actually exists in the EDO update, and that which is accessible in Horizons with 4.0.
Really, cause i was discussing about the failure of Odyssey, and that Frontier is showing signs of finnaly admiting it, and attempting to move on.
Odyssey will be forever tainted by Steam Reviews, or until the moment they merge it with Horizon.

I blame those see-through floors for Odyssey's bad performance. I'd also hate to be the janitor who has to clean all the dust that falls through the grates onto the pipes below. Though if enough people drop their change down there, maybe the "tips" will make it worth the janitor's extra work.

Also, nothing like grating to show off a game's anti-aliasing (or lack thereof). There's a reason people are usually dissuaded from wearing stripped shirts when doing TV interviews.

Depends on if the point you're making is that the point of the game is to present a pretty screenshot.
OP made a general point and I gave a general answer to make a point in return. I think the fact that you are having to try to turn it into a specific debate about gameplay advancements vs audio/visual advancements and how they correlate/track to business decisions rather than actually answer my question says all it needs to say about the clarity of my point.

That would also be a separate debate and general in its own way that goes beyond Elite specifically, either way it certainly doesn't prove me wrong.

is it disingenuous?
Well let's look... Are you saying that these aspects of gameplay in Elite Dangerous haven't advanced from Elite & Frontier Elite Dangerous:

Flight/Combat Model
Outfitting/Modification of ships
Simulation of and interaction with dynamic governmental power structures
Interacting with Stations
Missions
Onfoot mobility
Land vehicle mobility
Multiplayer options
Thargoid interactions
Planetary interactions
FTL travel
Virtual Reality interactions

?

The greater or lesser degree of which of the above have advanced is not the point btw. OP was opining how everything was better back in the day when, apparently, it was all about craft and not profit. If OP was around for the 8bit computer scene, they must have forgotten about World Cup Carnival and the plethora of cash-in movie to generic crap games, and rushed facades of arcade ports too..

BTW; I wasn't having a pop at OP, I get it, I'm older too, just recently turned 50 in fact, and I wistfully look back on those days as well, they were great - and I still love those old games and follow the retro scene with awe, but not taking off the rose tinted glasses when assessing modern games is a mistake. And I made sure to mention too that, yes, advancements in the audio/visual element of gaming has outpaced 'gameplay' advancements, but that's because at the end of the day all games boil down to pushing a button or combination thereof to get a reward and our ears and eyes are the doors to the reward system in our brains. I think I'm going to put this disclaimer in my signature; that still isn't to say that Elite's gameplay mechanics can't be improved upon, or don't need improvement, but Elite is still being developed so it can't be said that this or that hasn't happened with any authority unless Frontier say x aspect of the game is complete and final.

how "realistic" ED is one easily can see with FD´s design of FC´s!
Supposedly your platform shall lower and slide backwards into parking position (thats what U experience eg. when going to the concourse).
By design of FD thats not possible as the platforms are directly adjacent, hence mechanically would overlap..... or like M-Pad 9 that parking position would be in space.....
On FCs, ships only need to descend to or ascend from the hangar. There is no rotation involved and therefore no need to have any extra space. Ships only occupy the space immediately below the pad and there is no overlap.

You will not get access to the things that Ody DLC entitles you to (on foot gameplay, tenuous atmosphere planets etc.). You will have the option to continue flying Hrz as it is now, but that universe will be separate from the Ody universe and you will not be able to instance with Ody players, or with Horizons players on the new codebase.
Shame they haven't clarified in what circumstances that Odyssey and Horizons will instance with each other, if any. Leaving us only to speculate. So I will...

As you say, I would guess that Horizons 3.8 will continue in its own little legacy universe for the foreseeable. Instancing will occur though on the 4.0 codebase. But only in space. Never anywhere where an Odyssey player could be on foot, including any planet surface. I just don't see any way they'd allow Horizons players to see other players or NPCs on foot. Runnable over with their SRVs. As soon as the glide starts, the party stops.

We shall see.
