Update 14 and Beyond: Live and Legacy Modes

I was responding to your comment of course, which i quoted. Here it is again:

Thankfully, Reddit (and other communication platforms) exist to help inform console CMDRs (like with that Reddit post) :)
And...again.. for the last time.. 6 days is still not "enough time".

But we get it, we ALL get it here. It's been made abundantly clear by your attitude, and comments, your little tongue in cheek quips (you're so very clever), like so many others. Console players rarely do comment or express our concerns, because we're so tired of all the players like you, who are like, "lol, 2 bad, buy a pc, pleb, it's over move on." I left the elite subreddit a long time ago for those very reasons. The inability to express disappointment at literally anything without being met with complete derision by those players - people like you. Now that I see one of the mods there has the same attitude, I see how that has run amok.

The console players that are still here playing - are still here because of a love of the game. Otherwise they would have all left eons ago. Console players are some of the most dedicated because they've been screwed over time and again.. and are STILL HERE. Absolutely nothing but broken promises from FDev. And are STILL HERE. Still fighting to play the game. So the idea that you think.. I don't know.. it's some sort of enjoyable hobby of yours to giggle at the misfortune of those dedicated players? I mean.. good for you I guess? Shows what a great community you run I suppose? Very welcoming.

Meanwhile, I'll spend my energy to continue to advocate for players who love the game and simply want FDev to be beholden to its promises it already made to those players. I want all the players to have an equal opportunity to play the game that they already paid for, again - as promised. And, when a completely reasonable request for more than a 6 day notice so a portion of the player base isn't left out of the cold is met with an attitude like yours... well.. there's really no reason to continue to humor this "dialog". I'll be moving on.

Happy Holidays.

You've had well more than 6 days. In fact, you've had over SIXTY days notice. Two months.

September 2022

The portal will remain open indefinitely
, in order for as many Commanders to take advantage of the copy process as possible. Should the portal have a close date, we will of course inform players with enough time to react ahead of that happening.

Indefinitely = 2 months
Enough time = 6 days

Happy Holidays. Moving on.

But the portal isn't being shut down. It's not being "closed"...just put on hold until the first of 2023.

"...it will be reintroduced in Q1 next year.

The version of the process that we reintroduce will not be as comprehensive as before and will only copy the most essential profile data related to player progression."

And? You can still transfer your account. It is not "closed." I can only assume it has something to do with mothballing 3.8. If you want to take full advantage of the transfer, you've already had 2 months and you have six more days. I'm sorry you procrastinated. The deal has been altered...pray that they do not alter it further.

Start the transfer now, then once one either gets a PC or GeForce Now, one can continue playing using that transferred account, job done.

No comment I or anyone else makes will change Frontier's decision to release Update 14 next week (that's up to them). Any comments I make now won't magically create a more-than-six-days-in-advance message.

CMDRs who enjoy playing the game find a way to enjoy playing the game.

It's the middle of November so not a holiday in the UK (or vast majority of the world), but I'll have a happy day anyway, thanks & you too :)

Reddit is a hive of scum and villainy, people shouldn't go there.

so does this mean with update 14 horizons and odyssey players will be able to link up for horizon actives if im on odyssey and my friend is on horizon 4.0 or will it still be you have to be on one or the other to link up

Greetings Commanders,

We have an important announcement to share with regards to future game modes as of Update 14 which is due 29 November! Read all about it on our website and let us know what you think in the comments below:

Maybe it was answered, maybe it wasn't. What exactly will clone after Update 14? Because the console cloning process isn't exactly clear on one point, I thought I was good. Turns out I wasn't. Now, with less than 6 day until the Update, it's gonna take more than 7 days to decommission my FC (again). So, yeah, what exactly will clone after Update 14?

So, two different BGS.

So, this now means its no longer an argument against having PvP and PvE separate servers with their own BGS.
You miss the point, not only BGS is separated. Players' profiles are separated in full too.
I don't want this choice - play PVP cmdr or pve cmdr or farm them both.

So there are going to be 2 instances of cmdrs and carriers 1 live 1 legacy. What if you cant Access live your copied cmdr/carrier is going to be taking up space in a system thats most likely already full for years and no one can/will do anything about it as that Cmdr is a console player and Fdev wont touch it.

I keep seeing people concerned about decommissioning their fleet carriers 'Before' 6 days... But from what's been said so far, there is no reason to decommission before the split If you are active on 4.0.... You're saying 'again' so I'm guessing you already did the profile transfer / crossgrade. The issue with carriers is when the split happens, the people who decide to move forward with 4.0 will have to decide if they want to maintain the carrier in 2 different unconnected universes, or to decommission the old carrier so the upkeep doesn't bleed the cmdr dry. This is not a transfer issue like before. At the split I will decommission my old carrier to stop the upkeep and give my old cmdr the money in case I ever go back to 3.8.

Edit... you also said "I thought I was good. Turns out I wasn't. Now".... Are you saying that because you actually had a problem before today or because everyone keep saying not enough time to decommission carriers..... Only the people who haven't successfully done the profile transfer from 2 months ago should be concerned... Are you playing on 4.0 horizons or odyssey? if so you're good to go. You can do whatever with your old carrier whenever you decide to (after the split). People have been requesting that cmdrs move their old unused carriers to empty systems though to minimize clutter.

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean you want both to be tied together so not separate or that players have to make a choice regarding which profile they keep?
