I don't think toys in software form have the same tolerance for mistakes as national defense...just saying.

i don't think when things go wrong in the aerospatial or defense industry, those affected can be brushed off by saying "you're salty" either ... just salting!

decisions have consequences. if you botch a plane's software you may end up in jail, and if you botch a game you sold to millions of users you're gonna get called out by some of them. that's the business.

Have you ever written software before?

yes. have you?

the first pages in this thread ... get a grip, dudes. yes, it's only a game. but yes, it was a big flop of a release, basic qa seems still non-existant and this 'toy' is currently at a peak low in both quality and response time, after a long running and steady decline. so you guys keep laughing at the salty joke, and keep telling me you care about the game. who do you think you're doing a favor to?

Oh yeah, sure.. you guys got yours. I understand, screw everyone else.

Hey, that's beyond our control.

Can you explain WHY should PC and Mac players wait for Xbox patch then, when it's only bug fixes? It's only making the game better for part of the community. I understand you are upset, but other than "If I ain't getting it, nobody is!", why should they delay PC and Mac patch, even though it's ready to be released?

Happy to discuss in a civilised manner and listen to reasonable arguments.

Thanks for the reply Brett. Damn... My fps went from 80-90 to 50-60 with my HMD (Vive) in space stations when 2.3 went live. If this patch doesn't fix it, I don't know what to do... Holding my breath...

Leave all possible tracking mechanisms running (is there anything available on client side besides the logfile?) and hope you find a way to reliably reproduce the error.

I have similar issues occasionally (also in HMD - Rift here), but am not yet pestered enough to try and find out what makes the frame rate drop only occasionally. If I want to try and reproduce occasional bugs, I go to work :-/

Criticism where criticism is due, no disagreement there.

However, most of what we see around here is hyperbolic to astronomical levels.

Since we're being civilized and all, maybe you can start by admitting that I didn't actually make that argument.

Just more disappointed that those of you getting this patch in preparation for the event this weekend aren't up in arms about everyone getting it at the same time. You seriously come off as not caring about anyone but yourselves.

That's being OVERLY fair to FD. And trust me, I believe in being fair to a dev.

But let's be honest, this patch is being pushed out to PC and Mac now because of the in game event.

You don’t know that for certain. Maybe they are just pushing the patch to PC because it’s ready, and they can? The Xbox patch is most likely just as ready, but it needs to go through Microsoft validation first, Frontier can’t simply push an Xbox patch to live whenever they feel like it, there is a process to it while on PC they have more freedom.

I mean sure, it’s possible that Frontier simply hate the Xbox platform and wanted to punish them for the fun of it, but the likelihood of that possibility is extremely tiny IMHO, like pigs growing wings tiny. It’s much more likely that Microsoft’s policies are just getting in the way like usual. Many devs encounter this unsynchronized patch date phenomenon between the PC and Xbox platforms, it’s pretty common.

launcher tells me the game is already updated. load the game, it tells me i need to update.

download and install new launcher, it tells me the game is already up to date.

how do i get the update to work?

hey! would you please stop being so salty!?

Actually I don't think you do understand at all...

There are contractual deadlines / milestones that drew probably has to reach by predefined dates...
His decision to hold the events this coming weekend which are across all platforms including XBOX, to determine how his book 'PREMONiTION' gets told is a fairly gusty move and quite a nice gesture from him IMHO...

The patches rushed out for PC where obviously in part for this event, and from what has been mentioned, there are some backend server fixes that will also be applied to the XBOX servers as well...

It is not (from my perspective) an I got mine so screw you type of thing at all...

Seriously listen to the whole interview Drew has with Obsidian Ant... I found it quite enlightening and entertaining while I was making my way back to the bubble...
it goes for a fair while though as there is a lot of stuff discussed...

Vice versa - nobody has ever said "screw you, XBOX players". You seriously came off as wanting PC and Mac players having to wait jus because Xbox patch is not ready/delayed/not released for whatever reason there is (we don't know).

Nobody is saying "screw XB players". We are just happy that we got the patch. So why all the hostile attitude towards us, as if it was our fault?

You're missing the point.

  • FD said patches for all platformed will be sync'd.
  • They said that a year ago.
  • Now, right before ED's being released to PS4 they're going back to patching Xbox last.
  • Delaying the Xbox patch means people miss out on the event this weekend.

You're so quick to poop on MS that you ignore all my points.
