Nope as its in view. But it will draw a while side of a planet you can fly to and land on, if you're close enough.

RDR2 is not a FPS and neither is Odyssey a FPS. It's like comparing apples and oranges.

How is RDR2 or the on-foot part of Odyssey not an fps? Not first person? Or not shooter?

While you are on foot in either game, how they are rendering the environment is totally comparable.

If anyone is interested in seeing just how bad performance can get; head on down to Sahaidachny Mineralogic Enterprise on Azaladshu A 3 a. It in the CG system so go solo to avoid annoyances. The settlement itself is a CZ but as long as you don't pick a side and aren't hostile you should be able to move around uncontested. It really is the worst I've seen in ED:O. Heck, it might be the worst I've seen in "AAA" gaming since the early Crysis days.

Well. Its really about the same for me. To get a solid 60 FPS on 4K TV I have to go to .65 SS. Otherwise I have to cap at 45 because motion is terrible if the FR hits the 50s.

Of course the new bugs introduced are impacting me more than the things they fixed.

As someone playing off a 4K TV as well, I feel your pain. I've had to bump down to a 2560x1440 resolution to have a more feasible experience and messing around with SS at x1.0 to x0.75. It isn't the best solution. Honestly it blows, but I hope that somewhat alleviates things for you.

There is something weird with the HDMI connection but running at anything other than 4K causes the loss of contrast and color. Like you are perpetually in fog.

The SS setting is basically rendering at your resolution its just upscaling to 4K for presentation. Its working okay and the upscale is decent too. Its just annoying that it’s working this hard to present an empty landscape and a few scattered static plants.

Wonder where unigine's servers are located.. 280MB taking more then a few seconds on my internet connection.. it's like the dark ages.

EDIT: 500k/sec .. what year is this?

EDO itself on ultra 55-60 on stations, nobody cares about space, and runs like crap on the ground, with dips down to 34 fps on high density planetary bases, and 21 in CZs.

Is ED space ship Shooter? Yes Odyssey has shooting, but it's not just a shooter..it's First person perspective play. A FPS, you have to shoot to progress. There is a big difference.

RDR2 I'm pretty sure is a 3rd person game (I have it). And again I wouldn't call it an out and out shooter. There is much more to it then shooting. Unlike game such as Doom, Quake, Marathon (for those that remember it), Half Lift 1 and 2, which are all FPSers as the predominant gameplay is shooting.

Sure you can play Odyssey as a FPS, but I can't imagine the experience being good if you completely ignore the rest of the game.

All of this is totally irrelevant if you compare how efficiently Odyssey and RDR2 are rendering the environment from first person (on foot) perspective.

I've only got a 1080p screen to test with, so that should really be the lowest common denominator.
I'd suggest doing the run on Fullscreen Ultra preset to get a worst case scenario.
Those with higher panels a run at 1080 and native (4k panels could run at 1440 too, if you're up for it) would give good indicators too.

I've actually started collating into a Excel sheet (I might have had too much time on my hands...) so happy to update with more accurate figures, and I think it would also be interesting to see the difference higher end cards are achieving at higher resolutions.

If you want to add me to the table:
i7 4790k (no OC but with 2400Mz ram set to high performance profile)
GTX 1080 (set to performance mode)
16GB RAM
Win 10
2560x1440 resolution
Unigine score: 2772 (ultra)
FPS > 38 in the tutorial with ultra settings, VSYNC off, CAS OFF (probably less in the concourse)

Out of curiosity I also lowered the CPU clock to 3000MHz and got a score 2682, but FPS 36+ instead of the previous 37+. Runs cooler if nothing else :)

1070ti, i7 7700k 4.2ghz, 16Gb ram. 1920X1080.
I did it in borderless because alt tabbing.

FPS was erratic, including gaining 5fps for a time by just alt tabbing (not moving).

On the way in : 40ish FPS
Hangar : funky. Sometimes without flashlight 80, sometimes 40. Eventually it was around 40-80 bouncing back and forth sometimes without even moving.
Rest of the base : 40ish
Inside the building with a fire : 25-30. Dropped to 23-25 while using the terminal.
