After the update I noticed that a few gigs were put on my C drive. I have the game on my D drive. What files can I transfer safely to D drive from C without affecting game play? Since my C drive is slowly dwindling?

Symbolic links are really underutilized in Windows.

This way you can do for any program / game etc.
For example I symlink all sort of games logs to ram-drive, so they don't kill SSD.
(You can move whole "Program Files", "User" etc. too I guess).

Last time I was using OS Windows I moved all except c:\Windows to D:\
But I cannot recommend you to start so radical, because they could develop some protections, I haven't seen it for 15 years.
Just think / look around what you could move. If you move something big use "hard link to folder" so it will look like original 100%. Just for Elite "soft link" will work, that what I use on Linux.
