Valve Releases Asynchronous Reprojection support in SteamVR Beta Client! Post your feedback here!

MSI GTX 980Ti - Game SS .65, Steam VR SS 2.0 Most graphics options set to high with 4x AA.

Remarkable improvement on textures, although this could be attributable to the 2.2 patch. Smooth gameplay for the most part. Occasional judder on the landing pad, but less than before. Text clarity is still my largest issue, but the graphics of the game are much better and smoother. A decent improvement overall.

Hey guys, Vive newbie here. Just arrived yesterday. Was hoping to get some settings advice based on my system specs. I have done what this thread suggests. Got SteamVR beta w/ "Allow Asynchronous Reprojection" On, "Allow Interleaved Reprojection off". and under Developer I enabled always on for Reprojection.

In game settings is what I need advice on. Here are my PC specs.

HTC Vive (Latest version, arrived yesterday from digitalriver)
Windows 10 x64 Pro
Intel Core i7 6850K Hexa Core 15MB L3 Cache w/ 40 PCIe Lanes clocked @ 4.0Ghz on all cores.
Corsair H115i Extreme All-in-One CPU Water Cooler
64 GB (8x8GB Dimm Quad Channel) Corsair Dominator Platinum 3000Mhz DDR4
Asus Rampage V Edition 10 Motherboard
2x EVGA GTX 1080 FTW in SLI w/ EVGA 80mm High Bandwidth SLI Bridge [Factory Clocks, Overclocked by EVGA]
Samsung 950 Pro 512GB M.2 PCie SSD (OS only)
Samsung 850 Evo 1TB SSD w/ Rapid Enabled (DATA/Game Installs)
Corsair AX1200i PSU

When running the game on my Acer x34 Predator 21:9 34" Display @ 3440x1440 100hz I have absolutely everything maxed and I average about 200-250 fps. Those same settings w/ VR is impossible. No where near 90fps (ideal for HTC Vive).
Any advice on in game settings would be Greatly Apprecaited.

Thanks so much!

You have a beast of a system but Id maybe disable one of your 1080 cards for the time being just to eliminate it as a potential issue as SLI support in elite is patchy I think. (can always fire it back on again after)

Go for Vr High and turn off the Bloom and Blur. Try leaving the Supersampling at 1 and set the HMD quality to 2 and see how that goes :)

One of the biggest changes is switching to a different coloured HUD, blue works well.

Got this working with the OSVR HDK 2.0 last night absolute game changer for me.

I've got modest graphics settings owing to my setup (3570K and gtx 1060) but have put in game SS up to 1.0 most textures on high and it's staying completely smooth. I have got always on reprojection and when the frame rate gets locked down to 45 fps It's smoothing out really well.

I'm really pleased with it!

With these new changes do we effectively stop using the rendertargetmultiplier modification? Do we instead only use the graphics settings within Elite, in addition to enabling Async Reprojection in SteamVR (beta)? People's configs seem bit all over the place for a given hardware/gpu so there may be some personal aesthetics involved when it comes to what is deemed judder-free (?).

My current ED settings:
1.2x rendertargetmultiplier, 0.65x with VR Low and a few things tweaked up a little bit.
VR runs smoothly most of the time, but the graphical sacrifices have been a bit tough to swallow. Planet surfaces for example just aren't doing it for me with these settings.

Going to give this a shot tonight
1.0x rednertargetmultiplier, in-game SS 1.0, hmd quality 1.25, VR high, shadows low, bloom off, AA - smaa, ambient occlusion medium, depth of field off.
I'm hoping this can work better..

Hardware - i7-6700k, Strix 970. Both OC, cpu watercooling.

Yes.
SuperSampling and HMD quality settings inside Elite let you get that multiplier without having to set a global setting in say ChaperoneSwitcher.

So set ChaperoneSwitcher back to default and 1.0, and tailor your settings specifically inside Elite.

After just switching on Beta and returning stream VR config file back to before any changes.

Windows 7 x64 Ultimate (Yes my OS still works fine and no Windows 10 overheads)
Intel Core i7 4790 4.0Ghz on all cores.
16 GB
Nvida Geforce GTX 980TI

Model Draw Distance 90%
Texture Quality High
Shadow Quality Medium
Bloom off
Blur off
Anti-Aliasing SMAA
Super Sampling x1.00
Aambient Occlusion medium
Environment Quality High
Depth of field High
Reflection Quality Low
Meterial Quality Ultra
HMD Image 1.5
Galaxy Map Medium
Terrain Quality Ultra
Terrain Work 50%
Terrain Material Ultra
Terrain Sample High
Jet Cone High

Tested with surface, stations, nav beacon, Jet Cone on Exploring mission.. No skips, double images or jumps in frame rate.
I will say I can not find ANY graphic setting that reports 90 fps (As listed by ED), but all the above have 45fps and does not drop below 40fps and all VERY playable and looks great.

I have Acync Reprojection ticked in Steam VR but on the left it's listed as off, any idea how I can enable it?
I have a GTX 1080 and playing on Oculus Rift.
