As you mention, Indians are in some states 100 % vegan, and the Indian cuisine is well known for vegan food recipes.

And how far will you go? because there are vegans and then there are VEGANS!....

Indeed. I've been eating vegetarian for the last 15 years or so.
Here in Holland people selling food think that vegetarian food should either be tasteless or at the very least taste bad.
Indians on the other hand, they get it! Lots of choice in vegetarian dishes and each and every one of them tastes great.
The local Indian guy has become my favourite take-away!

I'm not really sure how big they are on vegan food, but you can check that for yourself I suppose.

We eat a vegan light diat in our house, mostly fish and chicken, very rare meat from pigs or oxe. Once in a while I go nuts and go to a BBQ restaurant and eat until I pop! My body feels very uncomfortable after that, almost like getting serious drunk, and deal with the hangovers.

So not vegan at all?

And my neighbours dog

I was about to say that's not vegan, but hoisin sauce would be good.

Enjoy.

Great for any meal, as a main or a side.

Omit any bacon or pork, use vegetable instead of chicken broth...

Keep plenty of apples on hand for snacking.

Raw vegetables and hummus is an excellent snack as well.

Easiest way to keep veggies fresh is to store them in tupperware and cover them with wet paper towels. I store celery, carrots, cucumbers and asparagus for 10-14 days this way, and they remain crisp and fresh.

Reminds me of a friend of mine a while back claiming to be vegetarian and five minutes later orders a chicken dish. :D

Haha, I may have seen similar a "few" times.
I was never full on vegan but was a vegetarian for a number of years.
(What would life without leather be like? C'mon folks...)

Those approaches can have a number of significant health benefits, but I strongly object to the fearmongering tactics employed all too often.
Any sort of pseudoscience used to coerce, scare or take money from people really chafes my hide.

Of course there are vegans and vegetarians that eat like crap too.
Lots of vegan and vegetarian junk food out there.

I'm certainly not a vegetarian, but I try to limit my meat and heavy dairy intake to the weekends.

Most of my food during the week is vegetables and fruit, light dairy, and reasonable amounts whole grains (mostly oats). With small portions of meat in the evening.

On the weekends I might as well eat garbage.

Agree with you on a lot of the fads and pseudo science.

BTW, Cantaloupe is a very healthy, low-calorie snack.

Cantaloupe and Apples are two of my mid-day staples.

It's really a sign of how prosperous that we've become, all of these choices we have available.

I'm pretty much food/recipe/show junky, but sometimes you just gotta keep it real.
