Hi all,
Not an expert, just an "unknown drip under pressure". The pressure being a hand, my left one >> Read here >>> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/320509-Input-Devices << that sometimes decides to not work very well.
Since the hand gets cramps at very inopportune times, especially if I am gripping something, I use a GENOVATION CP-48 programmable keypad and it does well for straight forward things like landing and take off (thrust controls) and panel/map selection. But it is woefully weak on handling long, complex macros. (Extreme 3D Pro stick in the right hand.)
When I first asked about input devices several people pointed me at Voice Attack. This has been much more challenging but after much trial and error I have my old Labtec AM-242 fitted with a collection cone and MS Voice Recognition fully trained and I am in business.
Many threads talk about trying to use VA to do actions in the Panels/maps but because of the way they work, if is very difficult to write a macro that does these things (like get docking permission) accurately and reliably.
I have now had two occasions when I was chased through the slot while under fire from an assassin. Getting docking permission had to work right the first time and I had to do it while still taking evasive actions. Really tricky to manipulate the hat on the stick while ducking and dodging.
Then it hit me that this could be where VA would shine since it will accurately and reliably execute long macros from a voice command. This means I can use the CP-48 and the top hat to get around in the panels and maps while VA does the driving.
So here is are demo videos of evasive actions and how I set them up.
Sorry, I simply cannot get Nvidia Shadowplay to work so the best I can do is post links to my GDrive.

The Evasion demo also shows why I am at present avoiding deliberately engaging in combat and I am fitting my ship out to sort'of automatically fight using turrets. My GTX 745 OEM even when I have things set to lower resolutions and such, still gets jerking when there is a lot of activity on the screen.
Enjoy and I hope you have good mileage.
