Vulture - What to use it for?

I wouldn't even take it in to combat until you have about 20mil to fully outfit it, then after that it shreds just about anything.

I've just upgraded my Cobra to a Vulture (still got the Cobra) and I wanted to do a bit of bounty hunting and maybe pick up some merits but the Vulture only has 2 gun points, where the Cobra has 4.

What does everyone use their Vulture for? And what hard points do you have?

In this case it is the size that matters. :)
If you fit some size 3 pulse lasers in those hardpoints you can potentially take down any ship you encounter in the ED universe.

The Vulture is an excellent combat ship, whether you use it for bounty hunting or for CZ. It will get the job done.

I love my vulture, I've tried most vessels at the 20m price range and lower (exceptions being Imperial Ships and the FAS <---I want) Finding a loadout that worked for me was fun and rewarding. This is my current loadout:

If your able to utilize its agility then the need for SB's go out the window. If you can't handle being without shields then I suggest sacrificing Life Support and the KWS for the power. Going up against any ship solo should not bring down your shields. A wing of 2 ships with Large/Huge hardpoints, you'll need to maneuver your target ship inbetween yourself and the wingmate to avoid taking large amounts of fire. If you run into a wing of 3 ships with mentioned hardpoints, then you should really consider your approach and how you will engage as the force multiplier is stacked against you at this point. A vulture's "power issues" can be countered. Try looking at each engagement broken into segments. 1st segment, All-out attack, draining your weapon capacitor to deal as much damage as possible to the shields; more then likely bringing them down entirely. 2nd segment: This is the chase. Put all pips to engine, 2 in weapons as you position yourself for your next assault while recharging your capacitors. All the while targeting a subsystem of choice. Power Plant is the most efficient way to kill but targeting others can be fun. Final segment: Put all power to weapons to finish off charging and fire away. Rinse repeat till dead if the first round didn't finish them off. If you are out maneuvered then you will have to manage pips between shields and engine. If your taking hits put 4 pips into shield immediately and keep them there until you can maneuver out of the kill zone. 3C beams can be used to great effect if you know your limitation and turn them into strengths. People rant and rave about pulse's but I ended up disliking build a lot. IMO the time to kill (TTK) and the module damage is just to slow for my taste.

I've been flying the vulture for 3 months straight now. I've had some long stretch's without claiming insurance, and other times Geico is calling me to raise my deductible cause of a bad week and a poor setup. IF you don't want to deal with weapon capacitors and are okay with the need to reload then give this loadout a try:

I had a lot of fun with a single 3C Beam and a Frag cannon. Had to reload once every hour...stretched longer if you keep the frag only for larger class ships. DBX, ASPX, Python, clipper, etc. All others were killed in satisfactory time with a single beam.

I'm only a month into the game and have spent my time bountyhunting in high res to upgrade my cobra so I haven't yet flown the vulture, but I am also interested in changing ships and curious about this thread. I mean no offence and I don't want to sound as if I'm bragging but everything you said I actually do very well in my Cobra apart from one thing, I make half the amount, probably because I spend half the time returning to the station to reload my cannons. All ships big or small Explode, especially with security help. so technically speaking, is the vulture a real improvement to the Cobra ?

I graduated from a Viper 4 so I don't know about the cobra to be honest however.
I think the vulture is a step up all round in combat it has got me out of many scraps my viper would have blown up in seconds.
For example I got opened up on by a wing of three asp explorers with 50% hull shields on and I killed all three on my own only taking 5% hull damage.
Some of you guys might laugh but for a noob it was a big deal, never would have dreamed fighting them in my viper would have run .
I havent had an issue with power since I upgraded my PP and Capacitor to A.
I am now happy with my ship and will grind my way to a python in no time in sure.

Hope I helped.

I used to fly one as a luxury smuggling craft. No gun's, smaller sized shield's, two size 2 fuel tank's, and surprisingly high cargo. ;)
