Wait, wait, wait! So even when you`ve bought everything you still have to buy the Beta?

Based on what you can achieve in a weekend, I would humbly advise you to take a few months of your time to actually develop the next contender that will bury both Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen.

Give me $120 million and I'll trounce what we've been offered so far.

No, that's still entitlement on your part. With an added dash of self-importance.

Entitlement for a game I don't play - yes of course. Your confusing self importance with "giving a crap" but I'm not surprised you don't understand it. You don't get that way of thinking and I can't explain it to you so we should probably just give up now :)

Fair comment.

Course, it also has to be said that all the bugs which CURRENTLY exist also passed through the beta "testing" phase as well, as did questionable mechanics such as healing-lasers, so you've got to question the process that allowed that to happen.

The problem is, if we're honest, that people simply don't figure things out immediately.
It often takes months before somebody says to themselves "Hey! I wonder what would happen if...." and a new exploit is born.
Beta testing, by it's very nature, isn't going to help with a lot of this stuff.

I don't know if you have taken part in the previous betas but FDEV changed LOTS of stuff based on our feedback and discussions. Some times it was changing balancing, sometimes adding little QOL features, sometimes bug fixing. It's true that beta can't solve everything and that some bugs will make it into the live release, but without the betas the game would be literally unplayable for many people.

As you love giving away money I can expect a robust donation of £1000 to start off with?

No, because I personally wouldn't trust you to code your way out of a wet paper bag. But I'm sure if you can produce a good enough tech demo then lots and lots of other people will, and you can prove me wrong. I'm up for that.

Since you "don't give a crap" you could also just leave the forum instead of wasting your and our time?

Its doing their job and paying them to do it. It's ethnically bankrupt.

You've just paid a car dealer to get in the car you already bought and make sure the AC works.

More like buying a Harley-Davidson and getting it home to discover that HD sold you half a bike and to make it a whole and beautiful, performing machine several more hundreds or thousands of dollars will need to be spent customizing it with Stage 1 and Stage 2 kits, chrome, accessories, after-market mufflers, etc. Where you been? How many car dealers sell you the car and then want to sell you everything that used to come with a car: floor mats, an ashtray, a trunk-floor mat, etc, etc.?

It is at times like this I am glad I am not supposed to beta test other peoples work regardless of how much I am looking forward to getting my hands on the Holo-Me creator! As for charging to take part... If all you want it to get early access then pay for it, however if you would like to help Frontier make the best job they can of the update then the tiny sum of £5 is nothing.

I am not a beta tester first off. But thanks to those that are.
So you don't play, don't do anything, but just come here to complain eh?
For the "good of the game" for all right? Because if folks don't see it your way then there is something wrong with them right?
This forum is a sad, sad place. Wish there was someone else for game information.

Well I don't know if you noticed but these forums have changed massively since launch. Most of the original backers have either left or somehow changed their minds on how they wanted the game to be. Not really seeing the arguments from those people anymore but that might be a good thing.

Kicking out the original backers who funded your project to then change it to a more shallow, easily accesible game for the masses to make more money (FD seem to love their money) is a good business move.

Because in the world of gaming, gamers really go for shrewed, business deals of good gameplay it's what we like ;)

You're right - I never grew up with the mindset of expecting something for nothing, and I have a hard time understanding those that did (and do).

You buy a product, product is ready for testing before you receive it, then you have to pay to test the product you already paid for if you want to make sure it's right. That practice is all kinds of wrong. It's double dipping.

No, no no. It`s completely fine. What`s wrong with charging people for something they`ve already put lots of money into? What`s wrong with charging them for testing a Beta of what they`re going to get anyway?

oh wait... It`s completely wrong.

It`s like paying for a 3 course meal. After a little while the Chef comes along and says, "I have a dessert on the way, the most delicious ever."

"Ah, yes, " you say, "The Epic Ice cream Cake I have ordered?"

"You can have a taste of it now just to see if it suits your tastes!"

"Excellent! Bring it in!"

"That`ll be £5 extra please."

"But I`ve already paid for it."

"Yes, but this is a test tasting before you get the real thing so I`m charging for it!"

Lesson learned.

Who can't take back what?!
You make less sense with every post, go out and get some fresh air. ;)

Less sense to you I'm afraid since you can't work out the easy sentence i just wrote. They can't go to FD as an early backer and demand their money back, obviosuly! What was hard about that!?

It would be wrong if beta access were mandatory.
It would be wrong if beta access was required to gain the right to buy the full 2.3

Neither of these is true.

If you want early access to fun new stuff, you pay for it. If you don't then you wait patiently like the rest of us.

Pay or don't pay it's your choice, personally I still laugh a little when people pay for early access/BETA access, one of the greatest cons the gaming world has ever produced well not as bad as NMS but close. Personally I don't pay but come on dude no need to whine about it.

hell, a lot of people donated a ridiculous sum of money to a certain other space game based on nothing but tech demos and empty promises
