Like onfoot gameplay? They did it by adding more and more interesting and engaging game-play rather than concentrating on daft details that only a small vocal minority want.

So the OP points out obvious and data based issues with ED/O and the initial response from forumites is that the OP is dumb.
Nice.
How is that relevant?FDEV is investing their talent into amazing offerings like Lemnis Gate and Jurassic World Evolution 2 and F1 Manager 22 and Chaos Gate.
In 2024 Elite will be a 40 year old horse. Come back when NMS reaches that.ED is a 7 year old horse we are lucky it hasn't put out to pasture.
I could list all of the polite responses to the OP but "dumb" was the most gentle summary I could compile. I'm sure you could read the first 8 and see - not nice. There are flaws in the reasoning, yes. I don't see anyone calling OP dumb apart from you though.

I disagree that Odyssey was a smash and grab as you put it. There were, for sure, pressures that pushed them into releasing the expansion prematurely, I don't think there's any argument over that. Though I think in light of what FDev are doing for the console commanders to get them to the PC, I think they have shown that they are willing to go the extra step to make things right, given the situation. Whether one sees it cynically or not obviously is dependent on the FDev Bad-ometer that occupies one's perception, but for me, Frontier have done a lot to make up for it.I think that sense of betrayal is what is hurting the franchise the most at the moment. That is the real lesson that FDev needs to learn.
It's a doom troll thread, the response was only unsurprising to a few that seem to want to join OP in bashing Elite. Sure.I could list all of the polite responses to the OP but "dumb" was the most gentle summary I could compile. I'm sure you could read the first 8 and see - not nice.
That statement on its own is totally meaningless. So Windows 11 gets less or more dev time because MS is also pushing their Xbox? Make up more stuff. The other offerings are relevant because they are the projects FDEV is investing more resources into instead of ED.
Guess what, good for you but think what you will, it is of no consequence beyond that.I don't think ED original version is being played by vast numbers of people at the moment.
So basically I'm in a discussion with someone who just wants to downplay anything Elite, and you're feigning being upset at the response that gets on the game's main forum for Elite players and supporters? If you want to compare success based on that time scale, I guess you could compare ED to tetris and walk away realizing ED is a blip on the gamescape.
NMS likely lived through it's birth that made the Odyssey launch look like a smashing success through the support of Sony. It speaks pretty badly for someone such as yourself to come here to try to bash Elite for similar reasons. LIke I say, good for NMS, I hope it continues to be successful, but I guess for you that only comes at the cost of Elite being put out to pasture as you say? And we're not nice? This iteration of ED is 7 years old, NMS is 6 years old and NMS by player numbers in this genre is vastly more popular.
LOL, the crusty old I want to love Elite to death trope. FDev do what they can with the resources they get from sales among other areas, folks like you were too busy telling people to teach Frontier a lesson so now it's likely that those resources aren't what they hoped for, and you want to kick Frontier for that too? Why not just go ahead and try to whip up some meme investors to short the company? All for the love of the game, I'm sure. The OP wants more performance from FDEV relative to ED/O. That is not a hater's stance, it's someone that wants FDEV to support this amazing game.
How many play via Epic, as they gave it away for free?how many commanders play EDO on the launcher not steam?
you mean Yes Womans LandHi op , wait until they bring out "No Woman's Sky".......then you'll be moaning......
Play the game in VR without either getting nauseated or getting frustrated. I'm particularly sensitive to forced rotation, so I need to turn my actual body in order to turn my virtual body. Last time I tried playing NMS in VR, turning my actual body messed up the controls and HUD.I'm curious. What do you hope to do in roomscale VR for NMS?
I think you make a good point. At the end of my post, I wrote that the lesson FDev needed to learn was not to burn their loyal base. In retrospect, I think they have learnt that lesson. As you point out, Frontier didn't cut and run on Odyssey, and they have gone the extra mile to try to rescue as many console commanders as they can. They are definitely trying to make amends for their poor decision to release Odyssey in such a shabby condition. o7I disagree that Odyssey was a smash and grab as you put it. Because these days, everything has to be an all-or-nothing, us-vs-them binary choice. Don't ask me why.Though the irony of an NMS fan trying to doom Elite over a bad expansion launch comes across as just a tad in bad taste in light of NMS' original launch. I'm glad they worked through it and wish the best for the game for the future, I fail to see why some folks still seem to think that the best way to feel good about their game is to bash Elite. What's wrong with wanting the best future for Elite too, eh?

NMS is not a space sim, its just a planet walking simulator. Even in NMS wiki page says it's a Survival game. In no way are this two very different games are comparable.Constructive criticism is good. Makes some protective parents run around waving their memes and witty one-liners, but who cares about them. The fact that one can make comparable product with fraction of the resources is worthy of respect. Makes one hopeful that competition will speed up, making fans of the genre happier in the process.
