Wandering fleet idea

Note: This is an extremely rough idea, I don't even know how to effectively implement it. I would need a lot of help with this to pull it off. Please bear this in mind.

So, basic idea would be to have a fleet of FCs, with all services available, that would wander about the galaxy from place to place, never settling down for long. They would travel together for the most part, but would split up at times to do things like explore more ground, or do designated jobs (mining, exploring, rescue, etc). The Fleet wouldn't be barred from returning to civilized space, but it wouldn't be encouraged.

Obviously, I'd need FC captains willing to go along with the whole idea, and other commanders willing to support the FCs. It's possible the whole idea could be flexible, so ships (both piloted and FCs) come and go, although there would always need to be a core fleet that people could track.

So, who want's to help develop this idea?

In all seriousness, there are groups out there alreay planning or doing this, but with just one fleet carrier. Adding extra carriers adds little to the expedition's functionality, and creates a lot more work in keeping them all supplied and fuelled, synchronizing jumps, etc. The carriers can't ever join instances, so you getting cool photo ops of multiple carriers or an awesome video of multiple carriers all jumping at once, would be highly unlikely.

IMHO it >would< be a potentially interesting Option for a Group comprised of single Carrier CMDRs.
As it stands now, plenty are in Deep Space but all alone and creating their own bubbles of space with more or less densely explored patterns.

The main issue IMHO would be which area to pick and why.
In order to spark interest, it would have to offer at least a possibility to hit some Mission Objective.
Something that's viable enough to bring a group of people together to agree and accept one or more specific areas to densely scan/sample with a specific purpose.

I for example expected such Groups to already have formed concerning some Raxxla hunt or chasing down a supposedly missing thing in the Formidine Rift.

PS.
I'm currently in the Arcadian Stream seeing if I can find an NSP there (Codex currently has none) - or discover a new Green Gas Giant.

I agree with the above, I'd happily throw my hat in the ring but I think fleshing out some objective would help.

Also, when you say 'All services' I have UC, Repair and Refuel. I guess we wouldn't need the ability to cash in bounties activated (out in the black) and I'm really not interested in setting up my commodities market.

I'm not talking huge numbers, just enough so they split up at designated areas and do different tasks, or cover more ground at an interesting area.

I should have probably wrote it down, but I do plan to make sure there is stuff to do, just not in the normal sense. It wouldn't be just one mission, but multiple, and the FC commanders, or maybe the FC 'Admiral' would decide what to do next. One mission couldn't really last forever, and that's sort of the purpose, to just become another part of the galaxy that is always there, in the background, ready to be found by anyone looking for it.

It's to be prepared for anything. Like carrying an umbrella on a sunny day. I want to avoid having to go back to civilization whenever possible, to really embrace that nomadic lifestyle.

On the subject of the redemption office, there is at least limited utility in the ability to cash in codex vouchers. Just something to consider!
