Wanting to Learn Combat: Which Ship?

Contrary to what every one is telling you about joy sticks/HOTAS they are not required. If you get good with a mouse and keyboard it is going to end up being better than a HOTAS set up for combat. However a HOTAS is pretty close.

Good advice. I am looking more at the Diamondback Scout as I do not have the funds to buy the correctly fitted Vulture.

It's a good boat only let down (in PvE) due to SR not working properly v NPCs. If you have the Rank and Credits I'd suggest the Courier for learning in PvE; those shields make it a very forgiving boat to learn in.

Also, as Z said you could try CQC as a safe arena to get a feel for it.

Add some turrets (2) to your current ship they should help with targeting
